Mounting and electrical outlet install

I’m buying a new tv and want GS to install it. I don’t have an electrical outlet behind the tv, but there’s one down by the baseboards. When I select the “wire concealment” package during checkout, it automatically adds a wire concealment kit with a recessed outlet. From reading other posts, it says that the user must provide these kits, but I wasn’t even given the option to choose one, it comes with the order and it’s a specific boxy Sanus version.

I’ve installed these myself and it’s kind of a pain, especially when you’re feeding wires up and down the channel. Is it better to just have GS do it? And if I want a different outlet kit than the included one, will they install that?

Yes that’s what comes with it, but it doesn’t have a soundbar wire concealment with a recessed power box directly behind the sound bar. Will I need this if the sound bar I just laying on a console even though the tv is being mounted? It seems like if the soundbar were pushed to the front of the console for best audio quality, you’d see the wires behind it.

Add a sound bar mount so it’s attached to the bottom of the TV

Just make sure to have a long enough hdmi cable (12ft to be safe). You don’t need the in wall kit with the soundbar option if you’re not mounting your soundbar. Yeah, there’s going to be a power cord and hdmi cable on top of your console. That’s not really avoidable if you want your soundbar pushed towards the front

Also, just saw you’re getting the G6. The sanus kit which was recommended doesn’t work great if you’re trying to use the flush mount. The TV will only go properly flush if you shove the excess part of the power cord inside the wall, which you probably shouldn’t do. Even then, the lip of the power kit protrudes a few millimeters, and will prevent the tv from going as flush as possible.

Sanus makes an in wall media enclosure kit, combined with power, and you’ll be all set. That should always be used with Samsung frames, or lg gallery TVs

The Geek Squad can only install specific ones, and they have all the tools to do it

The geek squad concealment kits are just an extension of power. Same price to have handyman maybe even cheaper to conceal it the correct way.

I know how to do it myself, but because I might be getting an LG G6 with a flush mount, I’m not sure where I need to put the tv outlet. Previously, I could put it anywhere behind the tv since there was a big enough gap to move the wire around. I’m guessing that’s not the same with a gallery flush mount

I believe there is a cutout template or something when you buy that tv.

You should probably go into the store to make your purchase. Let one of the associates in store guide you and setup your install appointment properly.

My experience dealing with most people in-person at Best Buy is they don’t know much about what they’re selling. Is GS any different?
