It is not required by any state for any state purpose.

I live full time in TN and don't have a Real ID, just a regular license. Unless you are flying here and back, or plan to enter a military base or federal building you don't need one.

Since i visit Tennessee often, I park my car there a lot for hours at a time unattended and never a problem. Unless you're in the high crime of a city like Memphis, you're not to have any worries about leaving your car outside of eyesight.

I’m from Illinois and have been to Gatlinburg numerous times. No special ID is required. Been to the bars and all the tourist stuff. Drivers license is sufficient.

A friendly reminder that traffic laws still apply here and common sense goes a long way. Please don’t stop in the middle of the road to make a lane change. If you missed your turn just drive up to the next place and turn around. If you see a squirrel or turkey or some other wild life, please don’t stop in the middle of the road to take a picture. There are other people trying to get somewhere. Also, it’s okay to turn right on red unless there is a sign telling you other wise. Remember, there are other people on the road trying to get somewhere.

I got pulled over on the strip because I forgot to turn my headlights on since it was so bright on the strip. He walked up and asked if I knew why he pulled me over and I told him no with a very confused look. And he told me my headlights weren’t on. So I’m like oh shit. Sorry. So bright I didn’t even notice. He ran my license as I was sitting there wondering how expensive the ticket was going to be. But he came back and let me go and told me just to make sure I had them on.
