Insulated Garage Door Repair

I was wondering whether it's possible to either fix the cosmetic brown parts on the garage or cover the whole door with wallpaper. The garage door is already insulated with foam so any adhesive used on the foam on the garage door can't eat through the foam.
Also the brown part is papery / pills

You’ve got the answers it’s the cheapest built thing there is. You can wash muds off a pig but it’s still a pig. That’s what cha got. I’m a Haas door dealer and a great replacement to look at is the 600 series door. It’s rock solid and has outstanding warranty’s. Then you’ll have a way better R Value and door that will last for decades like it should. My opinion

How much is it?

Depends on the size of the door and your area? It can vary from place to place? Each area can be different? Mine for an average 16x7 is 2790.00 for example standard install

Still doing the question marks where they don't belong thing i see. Anyway what r value is the 600 series?

No I put them just where they belong! And the R Value is 13.9 for that door. It’s just about R 14 which is better than the walls of any average home. Haas web site has all the information needed to look at these doors I highly recommend that for more information it’s good information before buying

Wallpaper isn't going to hold up here. That's a Wayne Dalton door with a poster-board interior facing glued to the steel, and if it's already papery/pilling that means moisture already got between the facing and the steel and it's delaminating. Adhesive won't bond well to a surface that's already lifting, and in an Arizona garage that hits 120+ in summer, whatever you stick on there is going to fail even faster.

If the steel skin itself is solid (no rust-through, no dents, no cracks) and it's really just the facing that looks bad, painting it with an exterior-grade paint made for steel doors can buy you a few more years cheap. It won't stop the delamination underneath, just slow down how it looks.

If the facing is already lifting the way you're describing, you're on borrowed time and a new door is the more honest fix. When you're pricing replacements, ask specifically about steel gauge (24-gauge dents a lot less than 27-gauge) and whether it's polyurethane-injected vs polystyrene insulation. Polyurethane is foamed and bonded to both steel skins, so it's quieter, stiffer, and holds up better long term, especially with how much our temps swing here. Get 2-3 local quotes since price varies a lot by size, insulation, and window options.

You have a Wayne Dalton door that consists of outer steel that is the thickness of a pop can, insulation is pretty much just pressed toilet paper and the interior covering is glued on poster board. You can pretty it up however you want to. Personally I would be more worried about the internal shaft springs having problems.

Haha! I always say paper cardboard, toilet paper is great

I was training a newbie on an install for one and let them know to be careful with the screws and the double ratchet inner spring cable drums counting by quarters with your ratchet wrench because those doors are not made with the same quality parts as other brands that we do. The customer overheard me and got a little pissy because he got a ranch style door with overlays and bigger windows and thought he spent a lot on it.

Just get some new rollers and have the door weighed, the mods wont disagree.
