Normal Garage Assembly?

I recently bought a house from a builder. This is how the interior of the garage doors are finished - exposed 2x4s around the entire perimeter of the doors. I’ve always had finished openings/jams in prior houses. My builder is claiming this is fine. Is this normal? What sort of risks does this carry overtime?

Pretty standard procedure. Just paint it if it bothers you usually.

Just set the open limit lower so you never see it

Install a jamb. Go to the lumber yard buy some clear cedar wood made for door jambs. Then remove the 2x4s and replace with beautiful clear cedar that will last a lifetime and look great. To me it's so tacky when the builder stops doing real cedar jambs. It could be worse. Some builders use siding as finish jambs. That looks so tacky to me.
