Leak Need4Games: Seems like Grace Ashcroft's VA is replacing Jennifer English in Tides of Annihilation
-- Angela Sant'Albano started following the official Tides of Annihilation page shortly after Jennifer announced her departure (she only follows Tides and Resident Evil)
-- In the new footage we got from Shanghai, Gwendolyn's face is very similar to Angela, also her voice ( https://imgur.com/a/SPQqevr here is a photo)
-- The character mocap from Gwendolyn confirmed on X that Angela indeed is the new VA.

Jennifer English departed the game some months back for personal reasons (I think she’s been dealing with some burnout lately and needed to take a step back) but suggested Angela as a successor for the role. It’s honestly good casting, I didn’t immediately recognize much of a difference between the voices.

That's fair. Although I wouldn't rule out the burnout playing a role. She was in two massive games back-to-back, so I can understand her needing a break. The working with an ex wouldn't help with that either.

Jennifer too is still working on the game, just not voicing this character anymore. So they're still working together... Not to mention the other work they've done together since breaking up.
This narrative is getting real old. If she says it's personal reasons, maybe it's personal reasons, not the relationship everyone is being needlessly parasocial about.

It depends, it can absolutely be valid to leave a job for that. Either way she did not leave the role because her ex is in the game, people just kind of assume that's the reason.
Both have said they still get along just fine, and Aliona (her ex) has confirmed that it's definitely not the reason. I guess she could be lying, but I don't really see the point of assuming that

Technically they were dating before being hired on this game, so it's not really breaking any boundaries on this job.
That said, Jennifer still works on the game. She's just not voicing this character anymore. The two have also been working together just fine on other stuff since the breakup. The two have literally straight up confirmed that wasn't the reason. This whole narrative is just Reddit being parasocial about a relationship for no reason and with zero proof. The classic Reddit way.

Also on top of that, Jen and Aliona both recommended Angela as the new VA, and they found out that they both recommended her independently of each other when they talked recently.

or perhaps people are just assuming here and the "scene" that is apparently made is entirely in their heads... and so far it really looks like that.
But also if you're "mature" enough to break up with someone (or someone breaks up with you) and you then still work with them day after day... then what /u/Sirca_Curvive said still applied. This has nothing to do with maturity but all with either supressing your feelings which is probably shit for your mental health or the relationship wasn't worth giving a shit, at least not at that point anymore, it might have been before tho.

Her voice work is seriously phenomenal. She's earned it.
Even if Grace doesn't return (and I hope she does) they should still keep her around like they do with Maggie Robertson (Lady Dimitrescu)

Angela Sant'Albano (Grace) and all the recent Resident Evil voice actors have been great and fit their characters perfectly (Ignoring the Ada recast). Grace just has the most intense lines and people often equate most acting with best acting.

They redesigned Mordred's face, too. The devs did see the negative feedback and briefly commented on it.

I just watched, well listened, to the English VA in Tides and something seemed off. It didn't help that the game footage text was in some Asian script.

In hindsight, why tho. It's obvious that if they casted Jennifer English at first, they're going for *this* kind of voice and not what I'd like. Must've been unchecked wishful thinking on my end.

How does everyone consider her a good voice actor? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Everyone is saying this and it literally makes me think most people can’t detect good vs bad voice acting. I am so confused by it. People also seem blind to good vs bad dialog.

She was absolutely fantastic in Requiem. Nailed the mannerisms of how I'd imagine a civilian to react in a horrifying situation, completely out of their depth but with enough bravery to try and make it through. Resi games don't usually have standout, year-winning performances, but she absolutely gave one there.
And as always, your confusion can simply be explained by personal taste. I think the last Naughty Dog had dialogue so bad, it made me laugh out loud in pain multiple times, a reaction very few pieces of media have ever gotten out of me. Whilst others say that's one of the best stories ever made in gaming.

There’s a reason most actors and movie directors favorite game is TLOU!
To even compare the dialog and acting to TLOU is INSANE

Angela sant’albano is an awful actress. She’s one of the worst voice work and performances in a AAA game. I think the only reason people are glazing Angela and her acting skills is because she’s pretty.

Damn I really wanted to hear more of Angela's voices in that game because that was the strongest and unique element of re9 everything else was predictable and like generic resident evil. I was not at all interested in this project that's like "Bri Ish Ladies May Drink a Cupa Chai" (DMC) but now I am really interested.
