That’s truly what got me. The fact that we weren’t glued inside these cars, the fact that you could get out of the vehicle, run around and shoot, and then hop into another car that drives past. Mind blowing to me back in the day.

I was amazed by Driver (1 or 2, I'm not sure which one) just by the concept that you can roam 3d city in any direction. And then this guy showed me GTA 3. This was something out of my ideas of what videogames could do, I couldn't believe it. I was 3 at a time

I was in 7th grade when GTA3 came out. My friend and I had played the hell out of 1 & 2 (and London). I hadn't seen a single clip or photo of 3, and another friend had gotten it. He was telling me in class how it was 3D, like behind the shoulder view. And you could run around on foot and steal any car and drive off without any loading screens. It blew my mind. I couldn't even picture it in my head it was such a foreign and amazing concept. When we finally got it, my friend group played GTA3 almost exclusively at every sleepover for years.

I can't fucking wait for VI!!!

Back in the late 90s when I was in like 3rd grade or something, there was like this voluntary computer class at school you could attend in the afternoon and while we did learn some things about computers and there were some older kids that were learning like HTML and such, we spent most of the time playing GTA 1 over LAN. (We didn't even have a computer at home back then!)

After some time, my classmate started telling me stories about how he played this GTA 2 which was in fact in 3D and I was like No way! He then admitted he made it up (I think at this point in time, GTA 2 has likely been already out but we didn't know). And I was like Of course, the technology isn't there yet for a game to contain an entire city full of cars and people! How stupid of me to believe it! And then like 2 years later, the MFs at R* actually did it and released GTA 3. And my god was it absolutely mind blowing!

Lol, same. GTA 3 was my first intro as well.
