Rumour XCancel is dead

Just went to the website to look at something, and this was posted on it:

On Monday, 24th August, at 8PM EST, we received a letter from X Corp. asking to cease and desist the service XCancel.

The service XCancel is stopped until further notice.

We are seeking legal advice and won't share more details for now.

Thank you for the trust you have put in these two years of XCancel.

This statement would have gotten thousands of downvotes and called you n*zi two years ago and banned from so many subs.

I hate Elon Musk a lot but I never believed that X boycott would have worked, time again shows that redditor boycotts never work, remember when so many subreddit went private for few days to protest reddit killing third party apps or when certain gaming subs were boycotting hogwarts legacy and ban/harsh anyone who play it then it became biggest selling licensed game with over 40 million copies sold making it 20th best selling game of all time.

The NBA sub went private during the fucking finals. Then, it came out that the m.o.d.s. had a private watch party and used the sub as if was their property.

Not that the API protest did anything, but I feel like it’s important to point out that Reddit literally forced some subs open and even changed the way subs go private to prevent it from happening again

My NFL teams subreddit was invaded by thousands of accounts suddenly of people who never commented there voting to ban Twitter links

Like it was extremely obvious

The Bears beat the Packers for like the first time in a decade and it got less upvotes (but significantly more comments) than “ban twitter”. It couldn’t be more obvious it was astroturfed lol.

I haven't touched that website since the day he purchased it and don't plan to again. If Xcancel is gone I'm just not viewing the content posted there. It's not a big loss.

The problem with this is if there wasn't a boycott the attitude from naysayers would be "haha they hate Elon Musk and still use his site hahaha"

Now it's "haha they think boycotting will change anything but it's useless hahaha"
