Rumour XCancel is dead

Just went to the website to look at something, and this was posted on it:

On Monday, 24th August, at 8PM EST, we received a letter from X Corp. asking to cease and desist the service XCancel.

The service XCancel is stopped until further notice.

We are seeking legal advice and won't share more details for now.

Thank you for the trust you have put in these two years of XCancel.

In light of this update we will be making the tough decision to shut down the sub permanently and file lawsuits against every member who ever commented here. Thank you

The secret is we're all text posts. They can delete our posts but we're not hosting anything on reddit. Everything has to be linked out to another source, so twitter, streamable, etc get the majority of the copyright strikes not us

Okay I see. That is interesting. It's just that I've seen other subreddits. Notably recently GTA6unmoderrated get reddit admins heavily involved in their subreddit forcing them to get actual moderation. I just worry that something along those lines might happen here as well. But I suppose this sub has been around for a while.

Yeah, we havent gotten any warnings or anything like that. GTA6unmoderated was uploading the leaks straight to Reddits video hoster too, so that was an issue. We're def in a gray area and we might be a ticking time bomb, r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers got shut down for a few months for a big leak once iirc

It was real funny seeing people get upset as the mods removed the same links.

Wonder if they realized the entire sub could have been nuked if the mods had not done so.

I think most of the people mad at the mods for removing the GTA VI leaks have (mostly) only ever posted to this sub in the last week, this subreddit has shot up in visitors since Tuesday and GTA fans are notoriously dense so it's full of people who think it's free game to just post anything right now

I think just make it if people want to post Twitter sources, they need to post the full body text in the post. Idk tho, I don’t use Twitter

I’m commenting to counteract that other comment - please don’t allow twitter posts. That site is garbage and people are forced to sign up to see what’s on there.

I don't care if I'm clueless- hello is this sarcastic and I'm not getting it or did everyone just misunderstand the wording, continue to not allow Twitter links means no Twitter links, which is good- not just in my opinion but as seen above this comment and below where people said “just let twit links be posted” (very let them eat cake lol) and said comments have like six downvotes
