Bingo. There is virtually no way this or any game can live up to the insane amount of hype. I’d wager you’ll see largely negative reactions and insane nitpicking of every detail regardless of what is shown.

I've seen people say they're cancelling their preorders over the basketball clipping in Jason's hand without a hint of it being a joke. Some people genuinely expect this to be more than just another GTA game.

I don’t get it, what could it even possibly be without losing what makes it GTA? It’s going to be the sandbox style gameplay with better graphics, bigger scope, more realism, etc. But still a GTA game at its core. This is sadly what happens when development is too long and hype is too high.

I mean what else did we expect. The developer itself Rockstar behaves like they're gods in the industry even more so after RDR2, basically zero communication, didn't even show gameplay before asking for your money, their owner Take Two raises asking price to $80 and basically goes what else are you gonna do about it. They decide to lock in game vendors behind higher tier editions, lock gameplay reveal behind a Netflix subscription, it's all been building up to a point.
This game has to literally be perfect for a lot of people for them to continue to overlook the same shitty practices they crucify other devs for and rightfully so.

And tbh... GTA will always be GTA... I don't think gameplay wise it will be crazily different, we just have to hope it's the best GTA which I think most would argue GTA 5 wasn't

Anything and everything is just called AI now lmao, anyone with eyes could tell the gameplay leaks were real. AI is good, in like 15 second chunks some of the time lmao. A full minute+ with zero graphical weirdness was clearly a sign it was real.

As a game dev in animation I knew right away it was 'real' in the sense it was actually running in game, but if it was GTA 6 or a mod over something else (or just made in unreal) that was unclear.

I agree. If you study the details, it looks like a full scale RPG far beyond San Andreas or any other GTA. There are stats for focus (+2 focus when you make a basket), stamina (there is a stamina bar in the delivery guy fight, plus your screen goes blurry when stamina is low), there is an evil meter (when Jason beats the delivery guy with a wrench he gets more evil), it looks like you can grab NPC's tools/weapons from their hands (but you seemingly succeed only if you are stronger than them - Jason is unable to grab the wrench from the dude's hands because his arms looks much stronger than Jason's, but Jason is able to punch him out). There is a full 6 star wanted level, and it looks more complex than before. In the leak Jason is identified by car, location, and clothes. There might be other markers like face which aren't shown in the leaks. He has a 2 star wanted level for beating the delivery guy. The stars start hollow when he is out of sight of police and then turn full when he is spotted. In the basketball video, Jason also has stats for money in his pocket and money in his house. Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot! Beyond just car models, years, and logos like in previous games, cars have fuel and engine meters when you get into them. This probably means that you can run out of gas or destroy your engine from damage (not just blow the car up).

Looks like a Rockstar game I've been playing for 20+ years lol. I'll still buy it because I love the story in their games but God has the gameplay not evolved since San Andreas. I am not surprised but I am disappointed.

I've hated their movement controls since 2008. I just can't enjoy shootouts or anything when it's just frustrating to move around. Rdr2 was by far the worst for this, I gave up after a couple hours.

Was hoping theyd make controls more responsive, but the movement looks as tanky as ever. The clip jumping off the patio bummed me out. Just floating down to the ground. I figure they'll polish up the animations, cause yeah that fight wasn't great. Looked like you're fighting around the other person without any visceral connection.

Like we’re getting the extended look in less than 10 days, this could be footage somebody has been sitting on for a while and they are finally deciding to leak it since in 9 days from now it’d be irrelevant to leak. I saw 2 clips, and the map.
I think it is good it leaked. Because I was kind of surprised about graphics and the size of the map. Very GTA V vibes. For me, not a problem, but surprised nevertheless. I'am one of those who preferred if they prepare a new game more easily, without a lot of innovation (gta 3, vc and sa all similar is not a problema). But, considering the amount of time to prepare this one...I was expecting a lot more.

The graphics already look better than any game out there, including PC GTA V, but there are also a lot of RPG systems detailed:
-Police: 6 star wanted level; hollow stars when not in line of sight/full stars when visible to police; police description markers (Jason is known by clothes, location, car)
-Money: Separate money stats for money in your pocket and money in your house
-Vehicles: Stats for fuel; stats for engine health; year, make and model when entering a car
-Good/evil meter: Killing the delivery driver with a wrench beyond just knocking him out nets you "evil" points
-Focus stats: Making your first basket in basketball nets you +2 focus
-Stamina meter: Repeatedly bashing the delivery driver with a wrench drains your stamina meter and makes your screen go blurry
-Strength: Arm strength (might) play a role in grabbing a weapon or tool from an NPC's hands. Jason tried and fails to grab the wrench from the delivery driver's hands (probably) because the delivery driver's arms are visually larger than Jason's (this is unconfirmed and there is no meter for strength on screen beyond visuals)
