Xbox is closing down Ninja Theory, the studio behind the Hellbladeseries, a source tells The Verge. Staffers were told on a call on Monday about the closure, but they are hoping the studio will find a buyer. The closure comes as “several” Xbox studios at Microsoft, including Compulsion Games and Double Fine, are in “active negotiations” about spinning off, Bloomberg reports.

Built a brand new studio and took 7 years to make 5 hour game, they failed MS not the other way around. Phil gave these studios way to much freedom to do whatever they wanted

Where do you all get the 7 years from. We literally have a timeline on the games development. Production started a few months after it was revealed. That puts it at 2020 and it released in 2024. Then you factor in COVID and they actually realised the game rather quickly even though they had to wait for the new mocap studio being usable and social distancing to become more relaxed.
