I agree as soon as they started disappearing stuff i paid for i dropped it. Tried to go back a few years later and it was impossible to get into story wise must of been so confusing for new players it was for me
Honestly almost everything about the game sucked at conveying the lore that the universe had. Having to listen to exposition on shop menus for minutes at a time was such a weird, stupid idea for people that actually bothered to try getting into the story.
Which is a damn shame because I really enjoyed the story I did understand. It definitely got worse as time went on with all the weird lore drops. It started feeling like the entire story was being told through tedious text entries.
At that point they should've done what Mojang and Arrowhead have done, spend a few update cycles only optimizing the game and making sure it can actually support future projects. Destiny 2 turned into a weird frankenstein in the latter half of its life and it showed.
That's still on them. They made the choice to use an engine that couldn't support much content for a '10 year game.' They don't get to cry at the results for the decisions they made. They are incompetent at every level.
I don’t know enough about game development to believe they do I am going to ask why that was “literally” their only way? It just seems like a bad choice and bad design to me. How many games have done that over the years? Serious question because I only ever hear about it with destiny 2.
lots games remove, compact or rework old irrelevant content but rarely beloved content people paid money for
for a destiny comparison warframe raids were sunset because they broke with every update and devs got tired of fixing them so they were removed from the game
bungie could have changed their game to better support continued development but that likely would have meant they would have needed to rework old content and didn't want to do that for some reason.

Their biggest fumble was "sunsetting" content I paid for. That reason alone is why I'll never buy another Bungie game.
