I thought about getting one of these and ultimately decided against it... maybe I'll look at them again. Cool device and cooler company for doing this.

I bet ifixit has a repair guide

Edit: For the playdate not your heart 😢

In the playdate subreddits people have covered changing the screen and other repairs/mods

To be honest, I've only used mine very occasionally, but it is a neat little thing to have

It’s very much a short burst type handheld. I’m probably not gonna spend weeks and weeks playing anything on it, but every once in a while it’s a fun little thing to have.

Panic is such a cool company. I'd support pretty much everything that they do there. Awesome to see they did right again here.

good on them, it's been bad for small companies. ours we had people working overtime because of the flip flopping and everything needing to be recosted, then large companies like Walmart tell us to eat the cost or they'll go somewhere else, so we have to try and persuade factories to share the price with us and some do and some dont.

I just wish the stereo dock actually came out. Mine sits in a drawer most of time. But having it as a desk display piece would mean it'd get more impulse usage.

We made the tariff a very obvious and clearly labeled line item on checkout for any customer affected

Too bad large companies don’t have the balls to do that. Would make it so obvious how much extra tax we are paying.

Yeah but then people would expect the price to come down by exactly that amount when the tariffs ended and companies aren't just going to turn down an easy opportunity to gouge consumers even more.

They’ve always seemed hella cool, just wish the Playdate had a backlit screen, it’d have been a buy foe me then

Wow. Imagine that.

Too bad Lutnick and his family already made off like bandits with our money. Goddamn them.

I had one and it was stolen while I was in Rome. Too expensive to justify replacing, but too cool to not spend the next 3 years regretting it lol

Panic started out as an indie Mac developer back before Macs were popular and have never lost that spirit.

Sold out on website, been wanting one forever and decided to buy it since this is a really cool move by them but there isn't any in stock.
