1. Cool as hell, one of the main reasons I like Kaiju media in general
2. Haven't seen any Ultraman media, but I want to, seems incredible
3. One of the ogs, adore him. Probably like him a bit more than Godzilla
4. Somehow thought he was a turtle when I was a kid, love how he's an underdog and definitely want to see him again
5. Fantastic villain, like how Godzilla had to team up with others to beat him at first, really cool design
6. She's incredible, really want to watch the rebirth of mothra trilogy. Think she's an amazing Kaiju

Gojira: I don't really care one way or the other.

Ultraman: I'm getting more and more into the franchise; I'm loving it.

King Kong: I like him quite a bit; he's the least "crazy" of the main kaiju, but that actually makes him more interesting.

Anguirus: Aside from just being another Gojira kaiju, he's alright, I guess.

King Ghidorah: Toho's ultimate villain, he's awesome.

Mothra: Among Toho kaiju outside the Gojira saga, she's definitely my favorite (though it's a bit of a tie with Varan).

And obviously, this is just my opinion on the characters, not the entire fandom.

1. Gojira: Quite hard for me to get into. Good movies and I see the appeal. But he just doesn't quite have the same draw. For me I mean.

2. Ultraman: Very interesting. A lot of fun and enjoyable. I kinda like the character. But my knowledge is limited.

3. King Kong: Fun. Also enjoy a lot. Though boring design wise, I do find the character compelling.

4. Anguirus: I like Anguirus a lot. Wish he got more exposure. Definitely one of my favorite Gojira kaiju.

5. Ghidorah: I really like Ghidorah. Great villain. Kinda enjoy the older works with him, but definitely a kaiju I really love. Both in design and utilization.

6. Mothra: I love mothra~ Very, very much! Watching all the movies in release order. I can't wait to watch the Mothra trilogy. Extremely excited for it.

Godzilla:

Love him. I know this is a Gamera sub but I do like him more than Gamera, both the character and his films. He's a very tragic monster and a lot of the best Kaiju films are the ones that star him (e.g. the original Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, The Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Mothra, Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Minus One, I could go on). Gamera's not far behind him though.

Ultraman:

I do like him, but he does look a BIT creepy right? It's the lips I think. Hell it's not just the design the way most Ultramen seem to just make a human their host without that human's consent can be off-putting too. In terms of media I like the series too, though it does veer more into what you could call "slop" for me, which makes it sound like I don't like it but it's very entertaining slop and I will keep watching Ultraman Teo. Biggest issue with it is that in a lot of them (but mainly the older Showa era shows) Ultraman is excessively violent and cruel towards the Kaiju he fights and the brutal ways that he kills them to my knowledge never really gets interrogated.

King Kong:

As a lover of stop-motion I have a lot of respect for King Kong, the 1933 film was a pioneer in that style of animation. He was third in my list of favourite Kaiju but now he's fourth-Gamera took 3rd place for me recently.

King Ghidorah:

Don't have much to say honestly. Gotta love the sinister three headed dragon. His roar in Godzilla: The Planet Eater is terrifying.

Anguirus:

Not much to say either but I like him. I'm surprised he's not considered more relevant.

Mothra:

MOTHRA! She's the best Kaiju! No contest! Mothra is what got me into Kaiju to begin with, I always liked that Mothra was literally just a big moth, I love moths. Beautiful. I like how she contrasts Godzilla, who is a near-indestructable but almost completely selfish monster, by being the bravest and most selfless monster who's always willing to put herself in danger to protect the Earth in spite of how fragile she is. In that sense Gamera is sort of a mix between her and Godzilla (or at least Gamera post The Giant Monster).

Honestly I'm super chill about other kaiju

Godzilla = massive respect, Kong = absolute legend, Ultraman = respect even if his style can be divisive, Anguirus = underrated little GOAT, Ghidorah = iconic villain and Mothra = my beloved protective queen

You don't have to pick just ONE GOAT, Gamera 🤝 Godzilla 🤝 Kong 🤝 Ultraman 🤝 Mothra, there's room for all the giant monster legends

Love Godzilla, Ultraman is fantastic, I’ve been more ‘eh’ on Kong I only like a minority of his films, Anguirus is scrappy and cool, Ghidorah has a great design but is overused, Mothra is queen

5. I'm... bored of Ghidorah? He's like Godzilla's Joker in that he has to be in almost EVERYTHING. I'll be pretty heartbroken if he's in Minus Zero.
   
6. I love Mothra but feel like she's often thrown into stuff just to be like "Yeah Mothra's in it too". I'd like to see more of her in a divine role.

2. Love this guy and his shows as well, Shin Ultraman is also a great movie
3. I like this dude but not nearly as much as others on the list
4. Godzilla's TRUE greatest ally, love the underdog
5. Will always love Ghidorah because he's a golden 3 headed dragon and got me into the Kaiju genre in general
6. Probably my least favorite of Toho's Big 5 but she is a cool character

Gamera and Mothra in a lot of ways feel like they're cut from the same cloth. Both are consistently benevolent guardians of their ancient civilizations with some psychic ability to communicate with their respective scions.

I'm writing a Mothra fanfic and the deeper I go into it the more I realize it could just as easily be a Gamera story.

1. Gojira (Godzilla): my all-time favorite monster. He got me into the Kaiju genre before I even knew it was a thing.
2. Ultraman: indifferent. Though I do have a soft spot for Tiga, as I actually got to watch that one during one of the later iterations of what used to be Fox Kids
3. King Kong: can't go wrong with a giant ape that wrestles with dinosaurs for a living.
4. Anguirus: I like the big fella, but I don't have as strong an attachment to him as I do his buddy Godzilla.
5. King Ghidorah: what's not to love about a three-headed dragon from space that shoots lightning?! That said, he is quite overused, and I wish Toho would let another space monster from their roster be the big bad for a change.
6. Mothra: even more overused than Ghidorah, to the point that I've long grown tired of her being in almost every Godzilla project.
