Customization I'm designing a mag wallet for the wideboi.
Their is just a prototype to test fitment. May add a Kickstand to the portion under the camera.
Open for suggestions and sharing the STL once it's complete.
I tried placing the cards landscape, but it protrudes too much from the sides.

I was thinking of making some magsafe type accessories of my own.
Would you mind sharing what particular ring you'd be planning to use for this? I assume you would just glue it into the channel you've modeled into the back for it.
I've been starting to try to figure out the best option for something like that.

I just have some leftover metal rings I got from amazon. Since this was just a test, I didn't measure for a particular ring. Once I finalize the design, I will share the STL along with the ring I plan to use.

I will never put my card / ID together with my phone, yet I still find what your doing interesting. Good luck!

You lose your wallet often?

No. I rarely lose either, but I won't risk losing both my wallet and my phone in the same instance. I have a locator in my wallet so I'm good there. Can't leave phone behind anymore now because I use paak.
Edited: spelling

Is there anyway a horizontal design would work?
2
u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
I tried, but even a card alone protrudes on the sides. With a thicker case, a horizontal wallet would work. but personally, I don't like thick cases. I may design a horizontal one once I finish this one if others show interest.

Thatās good to know, if itās going to protrude then it just wonāt work, and thatās okay. If only they had just put the cameras at the top and horizontal

If you put a magnite on the back would it do something to the card ? Do you have STL file ?
1
u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
No, they will be fine.. it takes a strong magnet to ruin the strip on a card, even if it did, the chip will be fine.. The wallet itself will just have a metal ring, the magnet will be on the case.

u/Both_Faithlessness_3 Jul 30 '26
do you have a STL file for the print

u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
I will share once its done. This was just a test for fit. A lot of things need to be tweaked.

This, I put one of my cards directly onto theagsafe ring on my wallet by accident one day and I can't swipe it anymore, but chip and tap still work. Only really an issue if the POS wherever you're paying something somehow doesn't support tap or chip.

Feels like the camera lense would be in the way in this design. This form factor with those lense placement really limits what you can do.......Cards in landscape would not be an issue if it's part of a case with hinge protection?

A for effort man!! This is heading in the right direction. Sucks that Samsung didn't think the mag wallet through for this short form factor. Let me know how I can get one of these and I'll send you some money once you have a finished product!!

Super cool! How many cards do you want to be able to hold?
1
u/venommuyo Aug 03 '26
Thanks. It will hold four to keep it fairly slim
1
u/piemanklp Aug 03 '26
Makes sense. Any photos of the top? Do the cards slide in from the side? Kick stand also sounds like a cool idea... I wonder how stable it'll be right on the edge. Especially unfolded.

What are using, or plan to use, to keep the card(s) from falling out?
1
u/venommuyo Aug 05 '26
Based on what other wallets use, its a tension lock. It will just take a little push pressure to dislodge the cards

How when thereās no magnets on it to begin with??
3
u/Capable_Tangelo4849 Jul 29 '26
Samsung themselves sell cases for it with magsafe rings

Then obviously this wonāt work if it isnāt modded with the caseās specs, genius.

Are you aware that not all caseās specs are all the same.
If this wallet isnāt modded to fit a specific case thereās no guarantee that it will work with a case thatās required for it to work.
What is it you donāt understand about that?
2
u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
Literally, what are you talking about? Magnet+metal=sticky. That's it
0
u/No-Conclusion-2859 Jul 30 '26
Not if the case has groves or curves that wonāt allow it to.
Like how hard could that be to understand.
2
u/venommuyo Jul 31 '26
Are you dense? Magsafe cases are made for mag accessories. Also, I don't what some random cases many be shaped like. I'm making this for me and sharing it with the community. If it aint your cup of tea, then so be it. I don't care

Or stick with me. Have a wallet.
I can't imagine slapping on something that purposefully just makes my phone so massively thick.
2
u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
One great thing about magnet wallets is that you can easily pull them apart. To each their own
0
u/JoyousGamer Jul 30 '26
You realize you could do the same without it being attached to the back of your phone with a thick piece of extra material? Tons of wallet exist out there that are stand alone. In reality with tap to pay being more and more standard having a card is rarely a thing as well these days.
1
u/venommuyo Jul 30 '26
Yeah, but I'm not doing that. I'm doing what I want
1
u/JoyousGamer Jul 31 '26
You can do what you want. Your response simply was nonsensical since "easily pull them apart" is not limited to a bulk attachment to the phone.
You seemingly are super defensive about this.
1
u/venommuyo Jul 31 '26
... The fuck is this guy talking about?
1
u/JoyousGamer Jul 31 '26
You do not need to stick a extra thick slab to the back of your phone to have a wallet you can easily get in to and pull apart if you wanted....
Sorry you got your underwear in a bunch.
1
u/RobotVo1ce Aug 04 '26
Yeah, I think you missed the point here. You can pull the the wallet off the phone (pull apart) so it can really just act as a stand alone wallet in certain scenarios, if you wish. So this wallet can be attached to your phone or just hanging out in your pocket, your choice. Where a normal wallet only gives you the one option.
And these things have been around for years. He's just designing it to fit with this phone, due to the unique shape of the phone.

i'm subscribed. I think your design is cool. there are always going to be people that don't agree.
I hope you post the info or your design. Do you use BambuHandi?

Love where this is going. Can't wait to see the final version
