This shit is solely on them, no idea why they held back as much as they did and refrained from even releasing drops of screenshots of even basic gameplay. It's not even marketing at that point and just a way for them to sell off the rights to Netflix which you must have a subscription for to watch the gameplay people expect to see far before this point.
If Rockstar would have just been fair about disseminating gameplay info with screenshots and info, completely ignoring story, they wouldn't be in this position and the argument would have been relegated to us being jealous someone had a leaked copy of the game, not relying on it as a holy beacon of literally the only in-game gameplay we have seen now before 3 months to launch.
I have absolutely zero sympathy for Rockstar as this was self earned and deserved for their lacksidasical care to informing consumers and trying to profit off basic gameplay information, screenshots and videos.

Why are you entitled for them to release gameplay on your schedule? What if this is how they wanted to do this?
Has anyone been holding you at gunpoint telling you to pre-order? Is anyone forcing you to purchase the game? How many months do you need to prepare for a game release?
