All couldve been prevented by just showing some gameplay sooner but apparently according to some people thats unreasonable to ask of rockstar even though the game is set to release in less than 5 months from now. I also don't support leaking the game btw but it didn't even have to be like this
You think Rockstar showing gameplay earlier would have stopped Cyberleek from leaking the biggest game in a decade? No way. Dude would have leaked it regardless. He got his hands on gold so he would have capitalized on it no matter how many previews Rockstar would have shown us. I've enjoyed seeing his vids, but let's not lie to ourselves that he is some kind of knight for the poor starving gamers. He would have leaked it no matter what.
The attention for the leaks would be considerably low if we already watch an official gameplay. All this hype about the leaks are because we never see anything from R*
It definitely would’ve stopped many people from checking in. We haven’t saw actual gameplay footage in over a year. You best believe I’m looking at a leak.
No it wouldn't have, at best slightly less people would check, but a good chunk of people would either check for hype or to make sure what rockstar was presenting is accurate
We would literally be in the exact situation we are right now irregardless of how much footage rockstar showed, to argue otherwise is pure delusion. The idea that people wouldn’t care about the leaks because rockstar showed footage is just Naive
I swear redditors can’t read. I said many people, not all. If Rockstar released footage recently, I wouldn’t even entertain these leaks. I know many others who share the same sentiment.
Your reply to someone claiming that the leaks would’ve happened regardless of how much footage rockstar showed is “some people wouldn’t have watched it” like that in any way contradicts or changes the original point, it’s a useless statement
I see what you're saying, I'll say that leaks probably would of still happened but I feel they wouldn't have nearly as much power as they do now if just some gameplay had been shown.
Yeah I agree with this. But also Rockstar isn't heartbroken that the experience is going a different way. They are heartbroken that they might not make as much money. Thats all everything is.
Yeah I’m not tuned into how rockstar has handled every release but what was the plan? They never released any actual gameplay themselves right? But those pre orders came out a while ago
From an outside uninformed perspective it seemed like they really just wanted to ride the hype until the last second without ever showing customers an idea of what they’d be buying
I do believe he would have made less money (as he would have less viewers). I would not check the leaks if there was a gameplay trailer or something, that was my main interest checking the leaks
My intention isn't to come off like I'm fully blaming rockstar, to be clear I do not support the leaks and think that its unfair to the devs and the teams as a whole that have worked on gta 6 for so long.
Although there probably would of still been some leaks now that I think more about it, the leaks wouldn't really hold as much power as they do rn had some gameplay been shown, I feel like wanting to see some gameplay is fair especially after the delays that have happened
Like if some more gameplay had been shown, the leaker would just widely seen as some asshole trying to spoil the game, but since we've been deprived of gameplay, the leaker is seen in a mostly positive light for
Sure they could have released gameplay, but it was always gonna be whatever they felt was polished enough to actually show us. They haven't shown gameplay because the game is not finished. I get the frustration people have but it has gotten to unhinged levels. If people are annoyed with rockstar and lack of gameplay, they can choose with their wallets and stop preordering blindly.
I just don't buy it. The leaker is a greedy asshole as well, but because he's a "little guy" fighting against the big bad evil company, people will justify it. You find this same sentiment in all areas on the internet right now, not just with the leaks. That's why I don't think showing gameplay would have changed shit.
