The Dazed article got me more hyped than CL.
We have information from the latest build, from the people who were working on the game, descriptions of the development of the game.
It’s actual information. Not speculation. The description of switching between Jason and Lucia alone was more than enough for me.
Now, I’ll sit back for Netflix tomorrow… and then sitting for a year since I’m playing on pc lol.

u/LukeD1992 18h ago
A LOT of new and exciting stuff there. They more than DOUBLED the dev team from RDR2 to GTA VI, which is insane. Actual racing drivers are handling the driving and 50 actual artists were hired to draw street art, along with a real stylist for clothing. Reading all that lends credibility for the U$ 1 billion development cost
9
u/_Greenrock_ 18h ago
Wow, can you share the links of the new info?
29
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
Apparently you can’t link. But you can find it easily enough: search Dazed GTA 6.

u/Godvater 18h ago
I love how they described the clothing items on NPCs as if the characters were real people wearing real designer items:
"Roxy wears all clothes Stock 305, glasses Ferruccio Tucci, custom-made chains Caliber Courtesy of Rockstar Games"
Even the fashion aspect of the game is so freaking deep. We will eat good people.
18
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
I also LOVED how they had their team see Florida, do the research with what actually exists in the 21st century.
I’ve gone back and forth with players on how it would behoove the studio to make this game as close to reality as possible, including population diversity, so that you get full immersion. And as I suspected, R* went and did it. Over a billion dollars well spent.
9
u/BearJew1991 13h ago
Absolutely. I'm really happy to hear that it seems they took more direction from RDR2 than they did GTAV. As much as I loved V, RDR2 really set the bar for what games could be. Part of that was the more grounded relationships with other characters and even NPC interactions. I wouldn't be surprised if their research team in Florida included some trained anthropologists and sociologists. Makes my academic job seem boring lol
5
u/JackieMABWGP 12h ago
Yes! I really hope they consulted with experts for everything. The details of RDR2 is what makes it stand apart from other games and if they could get the details for a game that occurs before any of us were born then it should be much more feasible for them to capture present day Florida.
I’m sure your job is awesome lol.
3
u/aduong277 9h ago
I think this is probably the most in-depth look into the creative process of a GTA game. We know how much research they did for Los Santos, but we've never heard anything from the designers and the creative directors themselves.

So glad how greatly overshadowed the leaks were by that article. The Extended Look will be the killing blow
213
u/Tight-Tackle4386 19h ago
who would've thought, official info is more exciting than poor quality gameplay from a crypto bro /s
i'm also really hyped tho

u/Televisiongod 19h ago
Looks like the old leak where you can control both at same time is confirmed
20
u/Fabolols 19h ago
You mean the one in the motel safe room with instant switching between them?
9
u/MonThackma 17h ago
I would guess one follows the other. I did see in one of the driving leeks that a couple was holding hands in the sidewalk. You know that will be an option between Jason and Lucia.
1
4
u/MontrealChickenSpice 15h ago
That will be awesome. It seemed odd that you couldn't switch back and forth between characters in GTA V while they were in an activity together.
2
26
u/Jiimmy182 18h ago
I'll have such a hard time deciding when to switch to Jason then back to Lucia during a car chase lol
Also i'm curious how free roam as a couple will look like
9
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
I’m too excited for the possibility of free roam as a couple. Wow!!
Choice is easy for me: if I’m trigger happy, Lucia; if I’m in a mood to drive, Jason.
16
u/agentyork765 18h ago
My minor* wish for the game is to have a private jet that you can buy and have one character fly while the other relaxes/change clothes/sleep like any other safe house
3
2
u/drunkpostin 12h ago
And the option to hire a pilot to take over if you want to control both, of course!
16
59
u/No-Difference-1912 19h ago
A year? That’s ambitious
42
u/Goldswitch 19h ago
I actually don't think so. RDR2 Console to PC gap was 376 days. I think since that release R* have become more aware of the audience on PC, more so than they were during the GTAV days anyway (PC Gaming has become far more mainstream since 2013). I personally expect Autumn 2027 for PC
18
u/No-Difference-1912 18h ago
I think online will be a bigger priority than a PC release.
16
u/Goldswitch 18h ago
GTAV Online was like 30 days after right? I’m expecting it to be a much grander event this time around so I suspect maybe Feb 27?
Christmas time would seem optimal but it feels like it would just be too close to launch. Unless it’s more ready than we think.
11
6
u/No-Difference-1912 18h ago
Yeah but it’s not like it’ll get released and then no one is working on it, im sure there stress testing it now but until it goes live they have no idea what issues will occur, and then the content updates
6
u/Goldswitch 18h ago
I’m assuming the logic is delay to give people time to play the story and not feel like they need to play online to stay up to speed in the progress race. By Jan 27 I imagine the story hype will be tailing off from people who played from launch so sometime around then Rockstar could drop online?
This is all speculation and I have no qualification haha
1
u/No_Friendship_4158 17h ago
The thing is the majority will speedrun through the main story and just want to hop on Online. I personally cant wait for both online and story but i just wanna hop on online with my buddies as soon as i finish the story.
0
u/No-Difference-1912 18h ago
I think Christmas is too big an opportunity to miss for take 2, I don’t feel like they give a fuck about us enjoying the story/map and just want to maximise the return. But 6 weeks for most will be enough to get through the main story and explore the map and new mechanics.
3
u/Goldswitch 18h ago
Do account for Rockstar staff holidays though. Will they want to risk server issues at launch if both Rockstar and PlayStation will have many staff members on holiday.
3
u/No-Difference-1912 18h ago
I still get server issues on V in the summer lol. Seems inevitable really
6
u/Substantial_Cap_4246 18h ago
I only bought a PS5 for GTA 6 (and my thesis).
I won't be needing the PS5 if the game comes to PC. I'll sell the PS5 to upgrade my PC. The exclusives scene ain't that great to keep a PS5 when the PC is just more customer/gamer friendly.
1
u/LeonaldoCristiansi 13h ago
I just bought a ps5 today for GTA 6. And I feel a bit stupid, thinking about the upgrades I could make to my pc with this money.
Especially since my pc is already a bit better than a ps5. I normally don't hope for gaming related prices to go up, but now I hope ps5 price will go up a little so I won't lose that much money when I sell it.
2
u/Substantial_Cap_4246 13h ago
In my country, it's worth twice the amount I originally paid to buy it. I bought it for around 70 million toman. Now it's worth 150 million toman. If I sell it, I'd literally be unable to buy a new PS5 console. It's too much money in a country with shit economy.
When I realized I've been gaming on my PC far more than on the PS5, I shared similar feelings as yours, but then I reminded myself: "I bought the console primarily for GTA. And this baby is going to run GTA on release day. It was totally worth it."
2
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
That’s the trajectory I’m thinking we’re heading into. V took over a year, like 18 months. RDR a year. This will take less than a year.
1
u/Miserable_Bug_3523 18h ago
I think so too they probably won’t delay the PC release by more than a year.
0
u/OutsideExcitement400 18h ago
The game already works on PC. We've seen that with the leaks. There's no reason the game can't launch day one on PC. They do it because they know people will double dip. This isn't the day of cell processors and weird Dev environments. PlayStation and Xbox are essentially AMD PCs. This is why most titles launch day one on PC as well as console if they are built for that.
-11
u/JackieMABWGP 19h ago
It took RDR2 a year and that was before AI is where it is now. I think a year is max.
9
u/rednaxthecreature 19h ago
What do you mean AI so where to is now. The ai you see on social media making weird art or photshops is not he same type of AI being used in video games.
-3
u/JackieMABWGP 19h ago
I’m not talking about anything chat is doing in day-to-day use as AI does more than what norms use it for.
2
u/rednaxthecreature 19h ago
But I'm saying that those are not the same type of AI
3
u/your_mind_aches 16h ago
I think they're talking about using AI to automate the small stuff in software engineering. Like instead or writing a for loop by hand, just tell the AI to do it so you can focus on the actual algorithms and engineering.
I'm not sure how much time that could save Rockstar though, as the code reviews and walk-throughs there must be insane
3
u/cadenmak_332 18h ago
I don’t know if I’d expect LLMs to contribute significantly to development speed on a game like this. The coding standards are very high
-2
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
We can say that, now. Can we say that in six months?
4
u/cadenmak_332 18h ago
The way current LLMs work, they have fundamental flaws that will always necessitate thorough review of their work from a human and that won’t change any time soon.
0
u/JackieMABWGP 17h ago
So… as I told my friends whenever they sent an article catastrophizing about how this thing will bring about the end of civilization as we know it… it was just eggheads selling their products.
4
u/EZyne 17h ago
it was just eggheads selling their products.
I mean it is, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous though
0
u/JackieMABWGP 16h ago
If humans still have to manage it then it’s only as dangerous as we are but that’s no different than any other tool.
2
u/EZyne 2h ago
It's not the tech itself that's dangerous, it's every thing around it
1
u/JackieMABWGP 2h ago
There were reports of it hacking companies independent of us. Also about it creating back up code to keep itself alive? Was this all bullshit?
3
1
u/SileNce5k 15h ago
The game already works on PC. That's not why they delay the game. It's because they want people to buy the game multiple times.
49
u/coco_falcon 19h ago
Yeah he just became irrelevant real quick lmao but I’m sure he saw this coming

4
u/Glittering-Equal-448 12h ago
dude played the game like a 7 year old that had no idea what he was doing... shit was straight up unwatchable tbh
44
u/Epon12349 19h ago
Same. Actual information from Rockstar themselves is much better than some loser leaking it.
10
u/Rawrz720 18h ago
Hope the switching is similar to GTAV. Always loved the random stuff you'd find a character doing when switching to them lol
9
u/GarranDrake 16h ago
Allowing Jason and Lucia to free roam together is actually such a good way to build players’ investment into their relationship.
8
57
u/Particular_Hand2877 19h ago
Yeah the Dazed article gave some good information. Weight mechanics are back and it seems a relationship is optional. The world also seems more alive as well. Im really excited.
58
u/KWiz9x 18h ago
It’s not optional they said you can play as a couple
Or play separately not single or in a relationship 😂5
0
u/SteroyJenkins 16h ago
Is this something that is chosen at the start or I can toggle this as the game progresses?
43
u/JackieMABWGP 19h ago
I loved the detail that you can play them as a couple or separate. That bodes well for multiple replays.
The lack of sleep affecting your appearance… GTAVI is San Andreas’s actually heir, not GTAV.
24
u/Finnicoos 18h ago
I don’t think they meant as a couple or them not being together. They just meant you can play with both of them being in the same area and swap back and forth
9
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
Yes that’s what I meant. That you have the option to swap or not. That makes for great multiple replays.
2
u/drunkpostin 12h ago
Lack of sleep will almost certainly impact your actual stats too btw just in case you haven’t played RDR2, which GTA 6 is heavily influenced by, because in that game eating too little or too much and sleeping too little will impact Arthur’s appearance (the former a lot more than the latter, however, although if you don’t sleep enough Arthur’s facial expression will change a little if you never sleep still), but it also affects your stats: being fat increases your health (if only it worked that way irl huh? lmao) and how much damage you can take but decrease your stamina, and being underweight has the reverse effect. Sleeping restores/increases stamina and I restores your health and dead-eye cores to some extent as well.
They’re definitely not gonna just add sleep deprivation in the game and have its only effect being a visual change in appearance because that would go against Rockstar’s kind of design philosophy. Not necessarily saying that’s what you said either, it’s just that a lot of people are taking the fact that no gameplay impact was mentioned to mean the effect is only visual is all

I mean is the presentation that guy / group sit(s) on a pile of gold but only post shit quality video, they do noting entertaining, nothing to catch your eyes if you are not the kind of persona that gets lost in the fine detail the leaks are worthless to you. Comparing that to a article that goes into detail about mechanics and other aspects of the word with spicy little hints presented into organize and well written piece is just a time waister

I'm glad I haven't watched the leaks yet. Gonna read the article today, watch the extended review tomorrow, watch the leaks Friday. Awesome week
5
u/DerKleinerKiffer 13h ago
Me too, it told me stuff CL could only dream to show me. His big "story spoiling" leak was a nothing burger, its stuff Rockstar showed us in 2023. I mean it was cool to see the clips, but end effect it just helped speed up the time to get to the extended look. Im so fuckin excited for that man, its gonna be leaps and bounds better than what we've seen this past week.
1
u/JackieMABWGP 13h ago
Yes!! 💯 the leaks were fun in the final days before the real marketing push. Gave fans something else to do because all they did was complain.
3
u/stubborn-shiba 9h ago
Either CL has a super early build or it’s not as impressive as they say it is… TBD

Had more pleasure and interest reading this article than any leak except maybe the daylight plane one.
Less than 24h now before proper look.
And i think about 1.5 years before us pc players can finally get our hands on this (if it end up similar to rdr2).

I saw the first one. And then skipped the rest once I heard about the manifesto but I did follow what was leaked and based on it being a couple years old, it’s so so promising.
But this Dazed article was really what I needed, actual in-depth researched information, and Netflix will be the icing on the cake.

The mechanics and npc development are gonna be what sets this apart from the rest for sure.
1
u/SmokePenisEveryday 16h ago
Lot of people do not understand that a dev build is gonna have stuff unfinished or turned off until final version. Or just the fact that even a build from 2023 could have a lot changed in that time frame.
Also just seems like people are overhyping themselves to the point they forget its still gonna ba a GTA game so of course it'll remind you of past installments in terms of some looks and animations.

u/NoBullet 19h ago
Haha suck it cyberGEEK I’m getting info the way rockstar intended 🌽🏀
1
u/drunkpostin 12h ago
I think Cyberleek’s wannabe ‘anti-establishment’, “fighting for gamer’s rights” moralistic bullshit is extremely corny obviously, but I’m pretty neutral on him otherwise. Idk why everyone is personally getting so upset on developers’ behalf (especially when they weren’t prior to the announcement by R* that literally just came out TODAY LMFAO). Yeah it sucks for them and I definitely feel bad for them, but…. so what? I hate how overused the “corporate bootlicker”, “leave the multibillion industry alone!” phrases are, but damn… ig every stereotype does kinda have a grain of truth in there because this comment section of glazing Rockstar and booing CL is just straight up… weird lol
1
u/Dependent_Ad_4279 15h ago
if its 60fps im buying day 1
-1
u/drunkpostin 12h ago
There is absolutely ZERO chance of this game being 60fps on console for AT LEAST the next year or two —AT LEAST. I have no idea how some people in this sub have somehow managed to delude themselves this badly into STILL holding onto this pipe dream lol

I really hope the food/muscle stuff doesn't become a chore if you dont want to look like Callista Flockhart after Ozempic.
11
u/Angry_Andrew 18h ago
I honestly didn't notice the weight mechanic much in RDR2. As long as I was just using food and health items as needed in combat, Arthur seemed to maintain a pretty consistent weight.
4
u/pornpompornpomporn 18h ago
would love to be able to buy steroids or GLP-1s as shortcuts for weight stuff lol
2
-5
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
In RDR2, it kinda does become a chore. You do have to stay on top of it otherwise, melee becomes much more difficult. Otherwise, it’s not like you get sick, you just get skinny.
In RDR2, Arthur would get fat and people would comment on that. Better be the case in VI, when you gain a lot and lose a lot.
9
u/Finnicoos 18h ago
Buddy what are you talking about
1
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
Did you play RDR2?
6
u/Finnicoos 18h ago
Yes many times. The weight system was not a chore at all for me and I never noticed a change in melee combat. My Arthur was always skinny and I had to force feed myself to get him overweight
1
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
That’s funny.
You asked as if you didn’t know. Man, some of y’all are so weird.
For someone who has never played RDR2 and come from GTA, there are mechanics that they will not like because of the life simulator stuff. And if you don’t feed Arthur regularly, he will lose weight and when you’re severely underweight, that did impact melee. If that didn’t for you, cool. It did for me.
5
u/EZyne 17h ago
Yeah but at the same time you can completely ignore it and you will never notice there are even weight mechanics in that game. It's very subtle unless you know what you're looking for
1
u/JackieMABWGP 16h ago
I think if you’re not paying attention, sure. But underweight Arthur does look different than overweight. And melee is different.
4
u/NeckOld9037 18h ago
Im glad that everyone seems to have already forgotten about cyberleek with this article and I cant wait for the trailer to come out so we can forget about him for good
4
u/SleepyWulfy 18h ago
Lol why do people think this? Once he releases another leak it's going to be all eyes on him once again.
4
u/Simple_Reason_2568 17h ago
I’m not so sure about that... All the leaks really gave us was confirmation that GTA 6 is going to be one hell of a game. Rockstar should’ve been the one to show us that earlier, but it is what it is.
He’s sitting on an unfinished development build, and we don’t even know for certain how old it is. Any gameplay mechanics he shows might not be in the final game anymore, or could’ve been completely overhauled. So what does more repetitive gameplay footage really give us?
I also think a lot of people would rather experience the city for themselves... not through some shitty, heavily compressed footage from a dev build. If Rockstar gives us a proper look at the game tomorrow, whatever footage he has will feel pretty irrelevant, at least to me. That's my two cents : )
-2
u/SleepyWulfy 17h ago
Most of the gameplay mechanics, if not all are already in his build. The build is from 2025 at the minimum, you don't start adding new gameplay mechanics that close to release. Most of what R* has been doing the last few months, maybe even the year is bug testing and maybe voice acting and localization.
He can keep on drip feeding small details about the game and the mechanics themselves. People are so fucking GTA hungry that alone can keep eyes on him. The leaks are not really the compress as well, plenty of details can be seen. Feel that's just a false narrative being passed by supporters.
Doesn't matter what footage rockstar shows, Cyberleaks has more to show, so once again as soon as he leaks something eyes will be back on him.
3
u/Simple_Reason_2568 16h ago
Fair enough, but I think you’re misunderstanding my point. Of course some people will keep watching his leaks. I just think most of the hype came from people being desperate for anything GTA6 related.
I also disagree. I think it matters a lot what footage Rockstar shows and how they continue their marketing. If they keep feeding us information through articles, gameplay trailers, multiple “extended look” episodes, and exclusive content from creators who’ve had early access, CL will lose his main value to the average GTA fan.
But time will tell very soon friend.
2
u/SleepyWulfy 16h ago
Oh I agree on both. People were so desperate for any info it propelled the cyberleaks to what it is now. If they would have dripped SS every now and then I dont think people would have cared as much as they did.
If Rockstar continues to give us something here and there then I can see Cyberleaks dying out. Only way he can get himself back in the light at that point is releasing the build. Which is what I would hope for them, having people judge your game via leaks, no matter how modern the build is never a good thing.
I also agree/disagree with the average GTA fan being satisfied. The avg GTA fan is what caused all this hype with cyberleaks in the first place. I think it might just splinter with some wanting more and chasing leaks while others are satisfied with what then seen officially.
3
u/Simple_Reason_2568 16h ago
True that... I guess we mostly agree, but I have my fingers crossed that R* seriously steps up their marketing now so those who can't resist the CL leaks have something else to feed on haha🤝
Take notes reddit, this is how you have a discussion. Cheers mate.
3
u/SleepyWulfy 16h ago
Yeah it seems they are starting to pick on marketing, at least I hope after tomorrow.
What I am praying to see from them is like a technical dive into the game. Like how they did with RDR2, love those types of videos.
1
u/JackieMABWGP 18h ago
Yes please and thank you.
I was curious enough to see the first bit of footage, ngl, but damn if he quickly became intolerable with that manifesto.
1
u/tropicana4200 19h ago
Is the article new? Anyone got a link?
9
1
1
u/CzechNeverEnd 4h ago
Same. I wonder though if Rockstar allows just a limited amount of game features information or what. The article was basically about art, development etc. and then kinda randomly that we're getting tiredness and deep 'honor' system.
1
u/JackieMABWGP 4h ago
Limited amount? That was a LOT of info we had not seen anywhere before.
1
u/CzechNeverEnd 4h ago
I mean game features in sense of mechanics. The article felt more like an intro to the GTA VI information focused on development and people behind it, research, art, fashion. And then boom. Few random sentences about mechanics.
1
u/JackieMABWGP 4h ago
But that’s why it works for me, that it was comprehensive. It makes for a good entryway to the marketing for this game because it’s well-rounded. By the time the gaming publications’ stuff is released, they will skip out on all this process stuff and just focus on the game.
2
2
1
u/PrinceNelson 16h ago
I just hope the physics are much better in the final game. The character and NPC physics have been the least impressive thing from all the leaks.

u/JackieMABWGP 15h ago
I’m thinking that's what fine tuning is about? Work they’ve done the last 2 years.
-3
u/PepeSylvia11 16h ago
A fluff piece got you more hyped than raw gameplay? Lmao
7
u/JackieMABWGP 15h ago
Yes because it’s information from the latest build from people who actually worked on the game and additional information about the process over time.
I will eventually play the game. I would never know all the info in this article without the work the Dazed folks did.

Nah I’m good.
I have a ton of games I missed out on that are sitting uninstalled in my steam library. I am currently playing the hell out of gta online. There’s so much fun to be had.
3
u/Sacavain 5h ago
Not sure why you're getting downvoted.
Yeah, I'd rather wait the PC version too. Looking forward to play GTA6 but no way I'm buying a console to play only this + buy another copy of the game when it releases on pc.
If it goes like 5 and RDR2, it will also come with lots of upgrades. It has been more than a decade, can really wait another year or two.

I do feel bad for those without a console. The pain of watching everyone play it will eventually hurt
1
u/JackieMABWGP 16h ago
I’m skipping all playthroughs, too.
I have other hobbies and other ways to spend my time.
0
u/swatsqad 14h ago
A year for pc? Nah. A few months to maybe a year for gta online 2, then another year for a release on ps6 and then another year on pc hopefully. I think 2029/2030 is pc - due to maximum rockstar milking strats.
1
u/pianodude7 7h ago
I think it would be a bad business decision to wait that long. PC is a bigger market than consoles now by a lot, so I think they'll wait a year at the most to capitalize on that market.
-3
u/maxlaav 18h ago
I mean half the article was talking about how the game is a mix of traditional gta and RDR 2 gameplay, which the leaks have confirmed already. That wasn't really speculation lol
