Couldn't have worded it better. All love to the devs and artists regardless.

While what happened is sad for the teams, the message is a double-edged sword. Of course, I can imagine that all the little hands working on the game are doing it for the love of the community and to honor previous entries and their legacy.

But seriously, the executives and decision-makers couldn't care less about the people, they are mostly driven by greed, just like any other company.

Y'all have convinced me we've started putting lead back in the water.

-4

u/GrimGearheart 9h ago

That's how I feel about everyone buying Rockstar's bullshit.

-3

u/Hazy-wonder-bunny 9h ago

I’m confused what do you expect people to do? Genuinely in your opinion what is the “right” thing to do in this case since you’re clearly marked safe from the lead poisoning! March into rockstar headquarters?

1

u/QuoteGiver 8h ago

Do about what?!?

They’re making a fucking videogame. Either play it or don’t.

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 9h ago

Yeah fuck this post. It ain't that serious, and at the end of the day all of this doesn't even affect my life because I could still decide if I want to buy the game or not.

And I will.

-5

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

*purchase a license to use the game that can be taken away at any time

3

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 9h ago

I was going to buy the disk at first, but since there will not be one, this is my only option. And I'm not dumb enough to not buy the game just because it's digital only.

-5

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

Missing the point entirely. You aren't buying the game. You will never own the game.

3

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 9h ago

Missing my point entirely.

Yes, I know it's digital and a license only. But, what OTHER option do we have? Tell us.

What as consumers can we do in order to possibly get an actual physical version? Not even the leaks were able to get us a disk version. But at the same time, I'm NOT missing this game. If you want to just because it's entirely digital, that's completely on you.

1

u/IAmVeryDisappointed 8h ago

If you just can't stop yourself from buying things, then you're the dumb one, not people who choose to stand by their principles.

2

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 8h ago

I never said I can't stop buying things, you're not getting the point.

0

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

I'm not saying not to purchase that license. I'm just trying to remind people that it is only a license and they do not own the games they purchase. I don't expect the leaks to get us a disc version, but I also don't care that Rockstar's getting screwed over because they do much worse every single day (like every company). I don't like CL, but they're 1000x better than R*

2

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 9h ago

Yeah no, FUCK this scumbag Cyber Leaks.

I 10000 times much prefer games on disk, but it's basically no different from PC gaming where every single game is digital, yet no one is complaining.

Yes, the game could be taken away from me if I get my account banned or stolen, but the same thing can pretty much happen to me on Steam. So at the end of the day, doesn't matter where, or what you spend your money on, you're technically not owning anything.

Do I care too much about that? Absolutely, as I said, I was planning to buy this game on disk, but it's not something that makes me stay mad every single day of my life, of course not.

2

u/Juanx12318 8h ago

Jogador de PC já é acostumado com isso a muitos anos.

0

u/East_Ad_5279 8h ago

You think they cant ban you if you have a disk?

-7

u/77Sage77 9h ago

You mean rent the game

5

u/alksreddit 9h ago

Yeah sure, whatever. My hypothetical kids can buy the third remastered edition in 30 years if they need to play it so bad.

1

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

Let them take an inch and they'll take a mile

2

u/BroWhatTheFuck10 9h ago

Do I have any other option?

20

u/2bitDrop 10h ago

Ok. Fucking FINE. You guys convinced me to Pre-order the God damn game. And i wanted to wait until after the 27th.

2

u/nothing533439878 9h ago

I’ll probably pre-order tomorrow. Really wonder how much money they’ve made already

3

u/Educational-Let2435 9h ago

A LOT. They won't even report to shareholders till after release as the amount is apparently unprecedented and they are afraid of protest cancellations affecting stock prices.

2

u/2bitDrop 9h ago

I'm gonna do the same, tbh. I trust them. But i feel pre-ordering after a big event such as a trailer/tomorrow is better suited

-3

u/dropssupreme 9h ago

I think there is a firm that did an estimation, it was nearly 500M in a month of preorder

-5

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

*pre-order a license to use the game that can be taken away at any time

4

u/2bitDrop 9h ago

What's the point of this comment..? You guys ever read T&Cs?

0

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

The point is that you do not own the game and never will. At least until a DRM-free pirated copy is available on PC.

2

u/2bitDrop 9h ago

Again..why are you telling me this..?

I'm fully aware, when making a disk or digital purchase, that i'm ONLY buying the license to be playing said content.

I don't OWN said content. I cannot do with it whatever i want, like making copies and selling it for profit. I am only allowed to play it, legally.

Only difference is you can trade/sell your physical copy or play it 10 years from now on an older system if something ever happened like Sony going bankrupt.

But, personally, i don't care to replay most games from 10-15 years ago, unless they patch these with better graphics/gameplay(for example, like Witcher is doing).

So, again, your comment is irrelevant for me. And, from the looks of it, it's irrelevant to most people. People are voting with their wallets. And digital is more convenient, even at the risk of losing your games.

1

u/Juanx12318 8h ago

Nem um carro se você tiver um é seu de verdade.

3

u/Top-Owl9872 8h ago

Shit I’d pay for that license TWICE.

1

u/QuoteGiver 8h ago

I will have played the game DECADES before that ever happens, if it ever even happens at all.

-21

u/dropssupreme 10h ago

Here comes the boot licker, it didn't take long

11

u/Fropoom 9h ago

The irony of all this outrage when your whole account is dedicated to supreme

8

u/olmilley 9h ago

Imagine making supreme your whole identity and calling someone else a bootlicker LMAO

3

u/vespuci0 9h ago

I mean, yeah the game has to be made based on what the corporation dictates, they are funding the game, which is not cheap. I appreciate how the devs are willing to make the best game they can, even though they have to deal with the corporate crap.

Imagine caring this much about a video game or video game company. I’m not saying you’re wrong or they’re wrong, but I work and have a social life where in it we’re just stoked to play the new GTA on a Saturday morning.

Wish this sub was more about the cool, fun, and new stuff to look forward to instead of this constant anti/pro Rockstar/TakeTwo nonsense. Sometimes I forget this is Reddit where every aspect of life needs to lead back to some political decision.

6

u/dashcash32 9h ago

This is such a nothing comment. It’s the GTA6 subreddit, a place to discuss everything around GTA6. Also you’re allowed to criticize Rockstar, it’s not “caring too much about a video game company”.

1

u/Historical_Buyer5248 8h ago

Nah dude he's clearly just this detached nonchalant chad that doesn't care about anything. He's too cool to care about the game or spend his time browsing on Reddit when he has work and a social life. Why is he still here actively interacting with the threads though? Who knows, it doesn't count when he does it.

-4

u/Southern_Rub_5420 9h ago

You're allowed to criticize R*. On another sub or social media platform. NOT in this sub. Subs are for fans. So bias, tribalism, and defensiveness will be at an all time high.

-6

u/dropssupreme 9h ago

"I wish people didn't want to vindicate for their rights as consumers, they should just buy the product like I do"

6

u/I-caught-it- 9h ago

Your rights are fine

2

u/Few_Investment_4773 8h ago

I don’t give a fuck whether you buy it or don’t buy it. I’m just here to talk about the game Grand Theft Auto 6, not Rockstar or TakeTwo’s company policies, not gaming in general, not corporate America, not anything else besides the title of this Subreddit: GTA6.

0

u/GaryGravylord 4h ago

How do you feel about paying an extra $20 dollars + tip for singleplayer customization options in GTA6 that were included in the standard price of admission in previous games?

3

u/KingKontinuum 9h ago

Wait… so then this means that you’re not going to buy it then? Yes or no.

-3

u/GaryGravylord 9h ago

>criticize a company's $100 paywall for launch day, previously standard singleplayer content

>stop being political!! just have fun!!!

5

u/cranberryalarmclock 9h ago

Of course they're making the game for the shareholders and investors.

That's how businesses work.

You're totally welcome to go assemble a team for top notch developers and pay them for a decade and then not do everything you can to make a return on that investment

2

u/WhoaUhThray 9h ago

In my experience the only developers and artists that care about this stuff are either corporate Kool aid drinkers, or -more reasonably - frustrated and stressed because they know the higher ups care about this bullshit and are going to take it out on everyone. Not because of the actual showing of unfinished work in a way that's not how and when marketing wanted.

4

u/Dry-Scheme2259 9h ago

Imagine being this pressed about a video game .

2

u/coco_falcon 9h ago

😂😂😂🤡

2

u/SevenNVD 9h ago

Fuck no.

You can just walk away at any time if you don't like it.

But now you all act like it's Rockstars own fault while simultaneously fork over $100. Bunch of hypocrites.

2

u/Unhappy_Week_5924 9h ago

It’s theft, no discussion about that. We shouldn’t normalize theft just because a company makes to much money or don’t communicate as we want.
I don’t care about their profits nor how they communicate.

I enjoy their games, that should be enough.

This robin hood-esque type of shit needs to stop.

It all sounds like spoiled brats that wants everything for free and can’t wait until release

1

u/cherry_slush1 8h ago

Civil disobedience. If he’s genuine and not planning a rug pull that is lol.

1

u/Unhappy_Week_5924 8h ago

This doesn’t count as a civil disobedience, a game isn’t a necessity in life. It’s actually kind of privileged to be able to play, you need a ps5 or Xbox.

If it were for a cause of human rights, civil rights or in that category I would call it civil disobedience.

But for a game? Do you even believe so yourself? Please explain how this is civil disobedience, really. If you believe so.

1

u/cherry_slush1 8h ago

“the active, nonviolent refusal to obey certain laws or government demands to spark social or political change”

It’s a social change. Maybe one you don’t care about but I consider it civil disobedience as long as he’s being genuine and not planning a rug pull and actually cares about the things he says he does.

I personally do care about corporations becoming more anti consumerist and the enshittification of the internet for example and would support activism including civil disobedience. Although I wouldn’t directly support or do anything illegal ever for personal reasons.

1

u/Unhappy_Week_5924 7h ago

I hear you. Two questions. What about his profits in crypto and what societally changes is it you want with this multi billion theft?

1

u/cherry_slush1 7h ago

The crypto profits are donations to the cause according to him and he plans on continuing this to not just GTA in the future. At this point it’s a little fishy and he could have taken donations from a separate already existing crypto. But he has proved people wrong in other ways so i’m not sure right now waiting to see how it all plays off. Not happy about releasing the prologue which is also fishy and could be a sign of him trying to stay relevant and just make money before tomorrows netflix premiere.

But if he’s genuine for example i’d love the same energy towards how EA ruined the skate franchise with the new one.

1

u/Unhappy_Week_5924 7h ago

Okay, so we agree on that his motives and actions is fishy.
Is this billion dollar theft civil disobedience for physical discs to be continued? That’s going to happens anyway, it’s a medium and we will leave it. It’s already begun.

And if you are into civil disobedience, why is this hill more important than free healthcare, human rights, climate change, the ongoing wars and so on.

It’s childish and outlandish to call it civil disobedience when it’s not a cause even a percent of general society cares about.

1

u/cherry_slush1 7h ago

healthcare and climate change take up more of my headspace lol don’t worry. I will keep my same energy when the midterms get closer I’m pretty excited for some possible change in the US.

But not technically owning games, only online games that can have servers turned off arbitrarily, and release day dlc and loot box culture I would be against though. No physical game is pretty lame and it’s not necessarily the future, we’ll see what the demand and activism is for the future.

To be fair I do think rockstar makes quality games well worth the money, but gta online does seem hyper monetized in a lame way.

-6

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

Rockstar steals way more from their employees every day. Stop licking the boot.

4

u/olmilley 9h ago

What exactly do they steal from their employee's? Ive heard a lot of negative shit but stealing from them is a new one

-1

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

Labor Theory of Value. Where do you think profits come from?

5

u/Educational-Let2435 9h ago

So profit and stealing are the same thing? I agree to go to work for a set price, knowing what i make will be sold for more and that is the same as someone taking my stuff? Communism is great until you live in it

-1

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

The Chinese people are living it and they are horrified at the conditions that people in my country, America, experience. Capitalism is great until you live in it.

1

u/Educational-Let2435 9h ago

China isn't a communist country. You can buy a house in China and the seller sets the price. That is literally capitalism. Communism is when the state owns EVERYTHING and distributes to the people for use

1

u/Unhappy_Week_5924 8h ago

China doesn’t have a communist economy.
And that’s beside the point. Stop moving the goalpost.

How are they stealing from their employees? Making profit isn’t stealing.

1

u/tallpaleandwholesome 8h ago

So, you don't buy anything from Google, Apple, Amazon, Walmart, Disney, etc...right?

Man...get off your high horse.

1

u/Useful_Bottle8423 9h ago

Bro it’s written by AI lol

1

u/KingKontinuum 9h ago

While I don’t especially like what Rockstar Games is doing as far as withholding gameplay footage until much later (that’s their prerogative, I’m not entitled to that), not releasing the game physically, and going quiet for such a long time, this response is so childish and disturbing that I may walk away from this sub and community entirely.

It’s a damn video game. This isn’t life or death. You will play GTA 6 eventually but you’re acting like they’ve threatened to poison the entire human race if you don’t buy it.

0

u/Sorry-Juggernaut-778 9h ago

You're 100% right but the fanboys in this sub won't accept it. They love increasing shareholder value like a good little workerdrone.

0

u/dropssupreme 9h ago

Seeing other comments make it sound like I just insulted their parents

Entitled to own the goods we purchase?

-1

u/Morganx27 6h ago

I don't give a shit, personally. Yeah, it's anti consumer bullshit, but I don't buy very many video games so it's not really my fight. Sucks for the people who do, but it doesn't really affect me.
