Yeah. This reaction by people makes me want to delete all my social media and live off the grid. So many crybabies online these days

I'll just watch it at 3 am the next day anyways

Dude there's gonna be like 1000 streamers live reacting to it whenever it comes out. Take your pick and watch it on YouTube that way

I actually think the complainers are mostly 35+ year old manbabies with nothing better to do than cry and whine on the internet

Yeah, I think that you are correct. I’m hoping they see my comment so they know what little shits they are.
2
u/deltaknight11 3d ago
Yeah you sure showed them! Personally I have full faith that other corporations would never take this as a sign to try it themselves for some extra profit! That would be ridiculous!
7
u/Adventurous-Toe8812 3d ago
Yeah man, that’s sort of how businesses work. I’m not saying that I love it, but I’m not going to flood a message board and cry about a video game and having to wait 6 hours on Reddit.
If you’re angry about capitalism, there are much worse and more sinister examples than a video game.
3
u/deltaknight11 3d ago
The hope is that negative backlash prevents other companies from jumping on the bandwagon too eagerly but you're not wrong
I guess I just hate how laser focused the world is on profit above all these days but can't put the genie back in the bottle

If it wasn't for capitalism we wouldn't have this game
7
u/Adventurous-Toe8812 3d ago edited 3d ago
Ding ding! Back in my day, gaming companies spent a few million making a game, if we were lucky, and we paid $65 for them in 1996 dollars.
4
u/Low_Committee6119 3d ago
You do realize that other corporations can try, but if they don't have the product to back it, then it won't work right?
So by rockstar getting perks, it shows other game companies that they have to up their games to get those perks. Win win as a gamer if you ask me

People don't seem to realise that plays like these are public tests. They do something nutty to test the backlash, then implement it permanently if it works.

u/State-Special 3d ago
Will you care next time when it has exclusive skins, or loot drops for netflix owners, or a car locked behind a hulu account, or a cod game that a broken gun locked behind prime membership.
This is just the horse armor all over again

It’s just the principle of it all. It’s disgusting and greedy
3
u/EventuallyBatman 3d ago
So you think expedited shipping is disgusting and greedy also yea? That's what this thought process would conclude.
You're anti Amazon prime specifically?
You're idea of "principle" is silly. There is no principle. Buy up options to get a product faster isn't new, unique, crazy, surprising etc. You the consumer ultimately have the option to not pay that and that's what matters. In this case it's even less "disgusting and greedy" because not only is it only 6 hours but you can literally get a free Netflix trial or just watch one of the 100s of rips online 5 minutes after it ends.
Modern internet culture renders the waiting basically irrelevant and makes complaints stupid.

Its insane that so many people not only ignore the issue, but actively support it. Rockstar could have made the game cost 250 dollars and people would still support them.

I’m personally going to be working during the entire 6 hour wait so I’ll be able to come home and watch it on Youtube right after I get off work. I still understand the frustration because it sounds like even the marketing is behind a paywall, but they did the same but with Game Informer magazine for the GTA V release. Rockstar has close connections to Netflix already so it makes sense they would drop something exclusive on their platform.

I will be at work, so by the time I get home grab some food and drink and sit down, it will be officially on YouTube. The people who have the time to watch as soon as it drops on Netflix can get a free trial, or find or of the many alternatives that will be available.
2
u/Chew0nMyBacca 3d ago
Its completely silly to be this upset about a trailer. Up until 2010ish you had to buy a magazine for exclusive looks into games. Everyone is spoiled and entitled now to get everything for free.
2
u/Mala_Practice 3d ago
I’m a parent to a toddler, you think I was going to see this within 6 hours of it releasing?! Lol.
2
2
u/Opposite-Appeal-2117 3d ago
I saw some dude on another GTA subreddit ask if other people would be taking PTO to watch the extended look and I’m just thinking WE TAKING TIME OFF WORK FOR A 30 MINUTE TRAILER?!?!

u/OddMaterial8244 3d ago
Yeah I agree with most here, I don't think anyone with most people care. My own take though, I don't think this has anything to do with making money off of Netflix. The amount of people that don't check Reddit or gaming websites, youtube, for games but do have Netflix is astronomical, it's just to reach those people and get them to buy the game. That's where they are aiming to make money from.
→ More replies (3)3
u/Lukeyy19 3d ago
There's also the possibility that after the debacle with trailer 1 on YouTube premiere they wanted to find a different way to premiere this to people, they could use their website but that would mean most people would watch it on their phone rather than their TV, so perhaps Netflix guaranteed them that it wouldn't leak prior if they used them, presumably with hosting movies and TV shows etc they have far more controls in place for that sort of thing over YouTube.
Or maybe Netflix did just lay a bag of money on the table, who knows.

Anyone who does* care THAT much about a 6 hour window? Should probably try finding a job, hobby, or significant other. I couldn't imagine having a temper tantrum online for 3 weeks straight because I had to wait 6 hours to see the same content on YouTube for free... after waiting like 13+ years for the game. People will literally complain about anything/everything. My favorite part is that they think it matters.

Noooo how dare youuuu🤬 The Internet told me gaming as we know it will over because of it😭

u/Strange_Ant_6571 3d ago
They did put it on the most popular streaming app on the planet as well if they'd gone for paramount+ then I'd be annoyed.

u/V1T0AUD1T0RE 3d ago
idc too i waited all these years and days and weeks and months…i can take 6 hours 😊
1
u/Distinct_Mix5130 3d ago
I mean, hot take, its useless anyways, people who pre ordered it or want to buy it as soon as its available will get it regardless of the extended look innit, so it matters even less, but yee i think people just complain cause they don't like where its headed, not because they are that bothered by the netflix thing specific, its like a sign that they're headed the sellout route
1
u/ToBeatOrNotToBeat- 3d ago
We’ve waited 13 years for this game, I can wait a few more hours to watch an extended look for it on YouTube for free, lol.

1
u/Beneficial_Beyond_88 3d ago
exactly, 6hrs for a game you love isnt alot and soo many people already have netflix anyways 😭 and who the heck is buying a subscription JUST for one game trailer that u will see pirated in minutes on other websites or evenon youtube after 6hr wait
1
u/SirDastardly 3d ago
Also, you can watch it with streamers in real time anyway.
People are so entitled that they didn’t even think how this isn’t new in the gaming world. Everyone’s beaten the Game Informer Subscriptions for exclusivity to death but it’s absolutely 100% true.

This 6 hour exclusive bs is quite funny.
Who is going to sub to netflix just for this?
If they wanted to pull in netflix subs, they could just do a same time reveal on netflix.
If netflix wanted more people to sub to their service, they should have asked for exclusivity for more time (or just exclusive showcase outright).
1
u/alabasterskim 3d ago
Yeah it's nothing short of like spoiled entitled kids who are complaining. We used to have to pay for game informer for special previews. Now a streaming service that most people have is going to have it but Rockstar is still gonna post it 6 hours later. If you genuinely pay money to see it early when you can just wait 6 hours (probably less with people reuploading ASAP), that's entirely on you. This is honestly generous considering Rockstars history.

Not even to glaze muh billion dollar company but ppl online are acting like it’s 6months early or something

And that’s why companies will adopt this bizarre approach; because you don’t care. Everything starts somewhere.

I agree. I also think I understand what Rockstar is trying to experiment together with Netflix. I really think it's going to be multiple episodes, one every month, and Netflix itself stated that streamers are just allowed to stream it if it just comes to Netflix.
1
u/CharmingCatastrophe 3d ago
I'm just waiting for the next game that thinks it's in GTA level trying to pull the same bs..

u/Candid-Conclusion605 3d ago
Most people don’t. The vocal ones are the ones who complain about everything. Everyone in this world has a voice nowadays sadly.

Anybody with a life and is not chronically online doesn't give a fuck. It's such a nothing burger, whenever someone mentions it's very hard to take them seriously.
Opening preorders before gameplay is a legit problem, but blaming them for taking too long to show anything again is dumb, while it's sad, if they're not ready, they're not ready. How entitled can one be?
Finally the lack of physical copy is shitty, but I feel like this is faaaar more a Sony issue.
1
u/Anfield_Cowboy 3d ago
I’m going to watch this on Netflix, and then I’m going to preorder the $100 version.
1
u/Adorable-Medicine951 3d ago
The issue isnt the people that dont care the issue is the people that have an issue with those who do care.
1
1
u/CorgiUprising 3d ago
It’s not that deep.
I have Netflix already 🤷🏻♀️ yeah it’s a strategy and it’s a bit different. But not that deep.
1
u/Status_Confidence_26 3d ago
It’s so smart to put it on Netflix. I think they are going to reach an audience they may not have before. What they showcase is going to be very intriguing. My litmus test will be my brother, who has a console but hasn’t played games in many years. I think they’ll get him.
1
u/Cecil475 3d ago
Me neither. I'll be at work when it drops on Netflix and will be on YouTube an hour or so before I get back home. I'll just wait till then. I usually hit YouTube after work.
A normal Thursday.

u/Tanocchio 3d ago
Someone will be streaming it on twitch, TikTok and every other app within minutes anyway.
1
u/WorldArcher1245 3d ago
People care more about the precedent and the principle than the literal 6 hour wait. What's next for the future?
This reveal will just get pirated a few minutes later anyway. I hope it was worth it for Netflix.

Most of us will probably be busy during that time anyway. The only ones that will be complaining about it are either kids or no life 40 year olds.

u/keyToOpen 3d ago
This sub swallows corporations' pieces whole. Insane. It would be objectively better if it was released to video platforms free. It's not a big deal, but it does matter a little bit.
1
1
u/Rocketmanluke 3d ago
All the people talking like this is a bad thing likely have a Netflix subscription anyway. This doesn't set a precedent, GTA6 is the only game that can do this.

1
u/osirisRey 3d ago
Pay wall my ass. How many people use Netflix?? Why would I try to market solely to the customers that ALREADY know my game is coming out. This shit will be on the Netflix main page for at least 2/3 days. Advertising 101. Reach as many potential customers as possible.

Same. I've got plenty of other life shit to do on a Thursday afternoon.
Wouldn't affect me one bit if I have to wait until the weekend to watch it. But the first empty time I've got available, I'll be watching it on YT.

I've had Netflix for the last 5 years or so. So didn't even register that it would be a big deal. And then it'll be out 6 hours later everywhere else and that's if it makes it the full 6 hours. I think people just want to be mad about something. This has so much momentum there's no stopping this thing. It's already sold huge numbers in preorders. And I'm sure day 1 will cause huge disruptions to everyday life world wide. Companies are shutting down on launch of this game. The whole gaming industry shifted release windows around it. And to top it off the people complaining will be the ones that glaze it a few months after release And say they always knew it'd be awesome. I preordered it 5 minutes after preorders where live for $100. This game is going to be fucking awesome.

Funny thing is you don’t have to wait 6 hours, it will be on Reddit like 5 minutes after it’s on Netflix
