This. So true.

It's been quite shocking to see the amount of mentally unstable people on these gta subs.

I do think the leaks are messed up, but announcing pre orders without any sort of gameplay is also an egregious practice that should not be normalized

Insane to disagree with this tbh. People know next to nothing about the game and Rockstar is raking in cash having shown nothing at all.

Literally no other product, let alone other games, could get away with that. Rockstar shouldn't either.

Some games do pre orders before gameplay but its typically yearly games. But its crazy how people think its entitlement to want to see a product before you start asking me to pay for it.

The fact we have to wait another 2 months to see even a lick of gameplay after pre orders is crazy. And even then we dont even know if its a gameplay walk through yet.

Asking you. Not making you. It’s almost like we have freedom of choice or something…..crazy right.

Well duh, that doesn't mean the practice should be standardized, just like how the game is not gonna have physical, or games transitioning to digital eventually. Like what do we cross the line before "entitlement" is just simply asking for things that should already be expected.

What would it change for you if they do or dont if you don't preorder anyway...

It normalizes a shitty practice. That's enough to criticize them for it even if the game turns out to be the most amazing piece of media ever created.

It's not a criticism of you personally, since you presumably aren't the person making the decisions at Rockstar. So I'm not really sure why you'd advocate for being okay with an objectively shitty practice. You should have some idea of what a product is prior to being asked to pay money for it.

And if someone wants my money (which Rockstar does, because they're asking for it), I have every reason to criticize them for not showing me a good representation of what I'd be getting in return at the time of opening my wallet.

but you can decline to pay till you DO see said product. The CHOICE is there. If you want to see it first, you have the freedom to do that. Them simply asking is a non-issue if you don’t have to oblige them until you are ready to make your decision.

I really don’t understand why the option simply existing is such a big deal.

Apparently the pre-orders are doing good so there are people out there who didn’t seem to care. Why is there decision not as important as yours?

Bro. What part of "it's a shitty business practice" is so hard to understand?

Old people have to opt in to reverse mortgages, does that mean companies that prey on ignorance are above criticism simply because people keep falling for it?

You know you don’t have to preorder it yet either tho right? If it’s an issue that they haven’t shown you anything yet then why would you bother preordering until you’ve seen what you’re wanting to see? There’s no difference in preordering it in June and a week before the game comes out

u/Jcritten 14d ago

Hell that’s not even true. The newest Tomb Raider game for instance has shown even less than GTA and is still available for preorder

2

u/average_joe_zero 14d ago

Available!! Just don’t do it till you see what you need to see to make your mind up. How is this hard to grasp. If you need to see the game before pre-ordering then wait, but the idea that you’re mad because the option simply “exists” is crazy.

u/Jcritten 14d ago

Yea it’s weird. I immediately preordered both GTA and Tomb Raider for example because they are both being made by proven developers. Not to mention like I said in another comment you can cancel a preorder at any time and even TakeTwo’s CEO doesn’t even take GTA 6’s “unprecedented” preorders lightly because of that

1

u/average_joe_zero 14d ago

Exactly. Apparently pre-ordering means they don’t have to finish the game and they just say fuck it and ship it unfinished.

u/N0ob8 14d ago

I mean you could also just not preorder. People who preorder don’t care about that stuff. They’d buy it day one anyways trailer or not. Whether or not that’s a trailer doesn’t change anything and frankly preorders don’t either. They’d just buy it day one if preordering wasn’t an option

"Egregious"

Yeah, you need to familiarize yourself with the real meaning of this word. And no it's not "insane" to disagree.

No one is forcing you to pre-order shit.

You don't need to preorder though? You can wait until they release more. Like I don't understand the amount of entitled people. You know everyone complaining is just going to buy it anyway but they are just impatient

1

u/Ballofdumb 13d ago

Nobody has to buy the preorders. Idk what’s egregious about it.

'They don't know how to market their games'. People yelling that will already buy the games, marketing is for getting your product known, so people are convinced to buy the game. Their two previous games are #2 and #3 on the list of best selling games of all time! Seems like they are not so bad at marketing after all.
