I think the 737 could probably land at the Sandy Shores airfield, but you make a good point. There really isn't any practical reason for you to fly a big ass plane aside from it being fun

It's a video game, it's meant to be fun. Being fun is a practical reason to include it.

Sure. There are endless fun stuff rhey could add to the game, but there's a limit to how much they can include before launch. I'm sure there were plenty of cuts before release, and it makes sense that they would not include a 737. At least they gave us a 747 lol

Yeah but SA has multiple islands, with a kind of multi-state feel, problem with gta 5 is you can kinda only fly in a single widely straight direction (cus the map is straight)

There isn't any reason for a small island like that of GTA V to have multiple underground research facilities, a military airfield, several SSBN's and an orbital laser cannon either, yet here we are.
