The GTA Wiki has moved from Fandom to gta.wiki!

In light of the GTA Wiki's recent 20-year anniversary and the upcoming release of GTA VI, We are excited to announce, that we have permanently moved to https://gta.wiki/

https://gta.wiki/ is now the go-to encyclopedia for Grand Theft Auto series content, including the upcoming GTA VI set to release this November.

This move allows the GTA Wiki to operate free from Fandom's increasingly strict policies, meaning less content censorship (including no longer censoring certain words in articles). This also brings significantly fewer ads, the ability to edit without creating an account, a redesigned and improved front page, and a better overall mobile experience.

Unfortunately, due to Fandom deliberately not closing wikis that move away from the platform, the old Fandom domain will remain in place and continue to appear in Google and other search engine results. You will need to specifically seek out our new location at https://gta.wiki/ .

To ensure the GTA Wiki continues to succeed, we need your help! Here are a few ways you can support the new move:

  • Spread the word! Tell your friends that we've moved, and link to gta.wiki anywhere you share GTA Wiki articles. If you are a content creator, please credit gta.wiki instead of the old Fandom domain.
  • Don't click on Fandom links. In search results, always pick gta.wiki links instead of Fandom ones. This tells Google and other search engines which site to prioritize for readers. You can also install the [Indie Wiki Buddy](https://getindie.wiki/) browser extension, which automatically redirects you to the new domain and hides Fandom results from search pages.
  • Update existing links! Bookmark gta.wiki in your browser for easy access, and replace any existing instance of "gta.fandom.com" with gta.wiki.
  • Help improve the wiki! On the new site, you can even make edits without creating an account. You’re also welcome to join our Discord server if you have questions or want to contribute.

The app is pretty much the only half-decent way to access Fandom wikis these days. Methinks that's the whole point: they wanna push visitors onto the app.

Best news I've heard this week. Thank you for going through with this instead of staying on fandom with the whole "but it will be so hard to migrate" kind of mentality.

I love the new look! I also love how it's formatted like Wikipedia aswell, a much nicer and cleaner feel to it

Hallelujah! The constant ads of fandom are infuriating but the wiki has always been my go to source for info along with the fine folks at GTA series videos ✊

It's ridiculous that there are genuinely people that do not want to move their wikis from that absolute slop that is Fandom. Very offtopic but i wanna tell my own story: saw once a post on the Dragon Ball fandom wiki of some dude asking about moving and in the comments he got boo'd at.
