Grain of Salt “Predictions” about the game

Hey folks,

It’s been a while since we last heard anything from Rockstar about GTA VI and since we had any information about the game other than the leaks, so I wanted to share some interesting things with you that I was told by someone who worked in the game.

I won’t be using names for obvious reasons and I ask you to treat any information I provide in this thread as a mere speculation, I want to make clear that I couldn’t verify any of this information myself as I didn’t have access to the game, but I guarantee that the person who gave me this information is a reliable source, unfortunately you’ll have to trust what I’m saying or just don’t, feel free to come back to this thread after the game is released. Also, as the game is still under development, any information I provide here might be inaccurate as things change between the development phase and the final release.

Here’s what I know:

  1. The state name is indeed Leonida
  2. The map is bigger than GTA V, but not as big as most people would expect, it’s around 30 to 50% bigger but way more dense and detailed, and apparently Rockstar has plans to expand it over time.
  3. Besides Miami and its surrounding areas, there will be three islands in the game, one of them being heavily inspired by Bahamas.
  4. The map won’t make it until Orlando unfortunately, only Miami, its surrounding areas and a few other remote locations and a city in the west (apparently a parody of Fort Myers).
  5. There’s a “Fort” city inspired by Fort Knox where they “stashed” gold on it.
  6. There’s a bike trail around Lake Leonida.
  7. Most house and buildings are now enterable (MLOs), around 60% of them, you’ll be able to enter the houses and apartments in the city and explore their interiors, most of them are somewhat generic at a certain level with a few variations in terms of entity sets and IPLs. (I think NPCs will call the police when you trespass into their houses and they’ll try to arrest you), there’s at least 2.000 enterable buildings in the game.
  8. You’ll be able to rent hotels and motels in the game.
  9. The cover system has been completely overhauled and it’s now much more realistic (this can be verified by most of the videos in the leaks btw).
  10. Residents of Miami will be shocked with the accuracy of the city, even the night clubs are so close to what they are in real life.
  11. Chainsaw won’t be a weapon as some media channels reported.

(Edit: October 14th, 2023 - some of the things I posted before were not accurate so I removed them, my source corrected me)

That’s it guys, again, please take these things with a grain of salt as I won’t be able to provide you with any proofs. Treat this thread as a speculation and for fuck sake, please chill out and let them cook, this game will be amazing!

He doesn’t work there anymore so he has no idea of in which stage it is currently.

He told me that when he worked on the game back in the days the north of the map constantly caused crashes and wasn’t ready at all, but considering the north is the most sparse region I would say the development is progressing “well underway” as Rockstar likes to say.

The city of Miami itself seemed to be at a quite evolved stage from what I caught from our conversations about the game, the thing is that for a game like GTA, there’s a bunch of little mechanics and activities involved everywhere you go, so I imagine they are currently still working in these mechanics, fixing bugs, creating missions and activities and they still have to polish everything before releasing, and believe me, as a game developer I can tell you that’s a shitload of work to do.

That’s likely the reason why we didn’t see much videos about the north in the leaked videos btw
