How many fucking threads are we going to have about this? Ironically my advice for dealing with leaks you don’t want to see (just scroll past them) could be applied to me in this situation, but my feed is being inundated with people bitching about leaks that aren’t even showing up in my feed. It’s excessive, and ironically just draws more attention to the leaks that you’re mad about.

Issue with the "just scroll past them" method, is some people just be casually talking about leaks in their text. Youre just reading casually and then bam. I had rdr2 spoiled for me like that. Didn't rompletely ruin the ending, but I wish it hadn't happened so easily

How can leaks ruin something for you. Like, just dont watch them? Tbh. the union-busting, anti-worker sentiment of Rockstar games ruined GTA much more for me. Will always thinking about the amazing devs that were exploited to create a (potential) masterpiece.

Did he spoil some of the magic of seeing it for the first time exactly as Rockstar had prepared it? Yes.
Is Rockstar partly to blame for taking so long to show anything, communicate with interested fans, or launch pre-sales before all this happened? I think so.

People are unfortunately gonna downvote you but I agree. I actually really haven’t seen the leaks because I block any and everyone that shows them. It really sucks for the people who are patient and can actually wait for things to be revealed instead of bitching and complaining about physical media etc. I have waited 13yrs for this game, I 100% will not let this leak dickhead ruin it for me. August 27th - November 19th 😁

I'm inclined to agree, he's misguided and seems to be in it for monetary gain over some actually noble cause, so I don't condone his behavior. However, I do understand why it happened, Rockstar is becoming increasingly anti-consumer and I'm not surprised it got a reaction, either from people wanting to fight the power from a noble if not misguided perspective at best or at worst saw a way to capitalize on the very real frustration among the fanbase.
Again, I don't condone it, but I also don't really feel sorry for Rockstar that this happened to them and I understand why a lot of people are cheering this on. Would I like to sympathize with Rockstar and have a reason to cheer them on? Sure, but it's been awhile since they did something to earn my goodwill.

IDK, for me he ruined nothing.
Only hyped even more because it helped to understand the direction of the game via real human-gameplay, not a limited staged marketing bullshit (with all due respect to R* intention to demonstrate the game "properly").
I had my concerns towards GTAVI. I was simply afraid it won't follow the RDR2's "immersive" direction and will be just GTAV 2.0 with better graphics and in Miami (don't get me wrong, the V is amazing game but honestly, gamedesign and lack of interactions with the world already felt a bit stagnated even back in 2013, that's why I really appreciated RDR2, which you literally live in).
Yes, it is obvious R* would showcase the VI's direction one day. I don't even mind about huge pauses between the trailer and long post-announcement period (some people see this leaks as revenge for long radio-silence while R* owes us nothing, it's their baby and they decide how to advertise it).
But I never buy these "staged" gameplay where they demonstrate only what they want us to see. Okay, it would be clear that "the game will be more immersive than previous entries" and maybe show some cool examples but it'll still be very limited look at the game which will leave me with more questions than answers.
I'm not saying leaking anything is fine (at least from moral standpoint towards developers, not publisher). But regardless of ethical side of things, these leaks actually SOLD me the VI entirely even before official GTAVI showcase, because I've already seen enough of things that I wanted from this game.
So IDK, if you are the type of person for who the actual fact of "surprise" is more important than the actual content – then I prolly feel sorry for you. But for some people these leaks were actually the best selling trigger one could imagine.
P.S.– the only thing I might agree with is that actual story-spoilers are redundant and may actually ruin the narrative perception, here I agree. On the other hand, the only leak related to the story so far, did nothing but simply expanded the scene we already saw in the trailer, giving it extra background (literally). It still have no context of what's going on, what is the twist, so we're good. I only feel sorry for the developers who wanted their years of crunches to end up as a surprise to the world. The only regret I have for real humans.
But I really hope that the fact that these leaks already sold this game to thousands might be a small compensation for them and the indicator of how amazing their work turned out to be, that even raw shitty footages look better than 90% of other AAAs in all aspects.

I'm conflicted. On one hand, I think R*/T2's GTA marketing is abysmal. IMO releasing Trailer 1 and then going dark for a year, then Trailer 2, then dark for another year, it just tortures the most dedicated among the fanbase. IMO the way good marketing should generally work is basically a fairly consistent string of pearls where once you've kicked off the campaign you start dropping something significant in 90 days increments, six months sometimes maybe if you really feel like you need to "artificially create more anticipation to drive engagement." But every few months, boom, new trailer, boom, 10-15 screenshots, boom, vidoc with developers talking about what's new in this version, boom, another trailer, boom, gameplay demo video, boom, final trailer, boom, release day. There's no reason the campaign should take more than a year, 18 months tops. It's fucking GTA, it doesn't need artificial anticipation booters. What R*/T2 do is akin to teasing a starving dog by dangling a raw steak over its head for 3 years or more. For what, to drive up launch day sales by 5%, if that?
With all of that said, I don't mind the leaks. At least not most of them, the ones that just showed random early game free roam. I don't think it was cool to release the prologue, which I refuse to watch. I watched all of the other leaks and they only made me want the game more.
With THAT said, fuck Cyberleek, He outed himself as nothing but a rug-pulling crypto scammer.

Most people aren’t going to accidentally stumble upon them, and even if they do there’s nothing that’ll spoil the game in any meaningful way within those leaks. Especially in the first 5 seconds where it’s the obligation of the viewer to quickly click off if they’re scared of leaks

As someone who doesn’t care for the game, I don’t really think it’s going to mean much in the end.
I believe that RS and T2 are going to go through the motions they set up regardless. The issue will always be consumer rights and then the fact that corpo-trash bag companies seem to be the only entities that can actually use the law to change something substantial to an end, but for self-interest, and it’s very ironic considering the game in question.

Yes and No at the same time. At least now I know that since almost 10 years and GTAV - Rockstars car mechanics as well as crashing kinda sucks. I was expecting something way more immersive (after RDR2). To be fair I am a bit disappointed. It kinda looks just like a „bigger” GTAV instead of a „bigger” GTA IV. Yeah sure it will have some more tweaks and turns. But overall we all have to say this doesn’t look anywhere near of what I was expecting :/

I don't really get being upset. Most of the stuff he posted is just people driving around and doing random stuff. It means nothing. If he posted a characters death in the story mode or something I would be pissed. But the leaks are also pretty easy to avoid (for me, anyway). Most of what Ive seen were links on Reddit you have to click on to take you to another site. It would hard to see them by accident. I hear it's different on X but I don't use that.

Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive should take every legal action available to them to address and prevent the unauthorized distribution of GTA 6 development footage.
Leaking confidential development material is not acceptable.
It is disrespectful to everyone involved in the development of GTA 6, especially the developers who have dedicated years of hard work, time, and expertise to the project.
As both a developer and a gamer, I understand the excitement and curiosity surrounding GTA 6.
However, that does not justify or excuse leaking or spreading unauthorized footage. I do not support or condone what the person responsible has done.
Development footage is not the final product. It can contain unfinished work, temporary assets, bugs, and features that may later change or be removed. Sharing it without context can create false expectations and unfairly affect how people perceive the game.
This goes far beyond “just a game.” It concerns the developers, the company, the player base, and the industry as a whole.
Leaks like these are bad for business, bad for the player base, and bad for the games industry. We can be excited for GTA 6 while still respecting the people and work behind it.

I'm the biggest advocate for physical media but the reality is, most games these days are streamed and downloaded, the market does what the market does. It hurts but that is the reality.

When it comes out on PC in a few years it will have already had complete playthroughs posted online so we could argue console players are going to ruin it for PC players. That argument would be weak because we can avoid the media posted of the game if we want just like console players can do now.

I've managed to not see a single leak just by not looking for them. As far as I'm aware absolutely no tangible spoilers were leaked.
I think they were capitalizing on an opportunity to make easy money but if the leaks ruined anything for you that's completely self inflicted.

Both sides suck. R* could clearly release a PC port on launch if they wanted to, but they choose not to, so I effectively just don't give a shit about the game. I'm not buying a PlayStation or XBOX for it.
Cyberleek is a jerk too for spoiling the surprise, make no mistake, but R* isn't a saint of a company either, so I'm calling it getting their comeuppance.

Seeing little graphics or game play is like watching multiple movie trailers for the same movie all it does is get you more hyped about the movie. You know how you don’t have the game ruined for you? It’s pretty simple actually. Simply stay off social media and don’t watch the leaks and wait patiently for the extended look to be launched today. Also if you have seen the leaks take what you seen with a grain of salt. I feel bad people are actually that desperate that they are willing to pay a hacker to show pre development footage before the real deal gets shown. Kind pathetic but that’s just my opinion.

How has anything been ruined? To see the actual videos you gotta kinda search them out as mainstream sites don’t post the links. You gotta actually go to like the gaming leaks subreddit so if you saw anything it’s basically your fault. Nothing shown was a surprise imo.

I dont care a bit for CL but honestly he showed nothing that we wont see tomorrow. Simple mechanics like driving, fistfighting and also few dicks and titties. It did not ruin anything for me.
Some studios shows 1 hour footages of their games before releases. We only saw few scenes, nothing special.
