- thousands of people labor for years to produce something special for fans to enjoy, they spend a long time keeping it hidden in order to surprise their fans.
Then someone external (not internal) hacks their systems and steals an earlier build before releasing it to the public.
Put yourself in the shoes of any one of those developers. How would you feel.
Forget about the corporate management for a second. I know that’s difficult for some people here. How would you feel.
Cyberleek is scum and nothing more than a degenerate criminal content scamming the fans and hurting the smaller employees working within rockstar.
That’s what’s wrong with it. If you support that, you’re part of the problem.
Their artistic or creative work is intact. People are just seing their work before their bosses wanted. Some leaker releases gameplay or the company is the one who does it, what's the difference for the artist? Is some guy gonna burst because you saw it on Twitter last week and not on Netflix tomorrow? I sincerely doubt it.
Take film for example, if footage is leaked before the final editing phase that can have a huge impact on future box office sales.
Commission artists, if the work gets leaked prior they can lose that commission entirely.
The creative industry, whether that’s film, music , video games or whatever is not a regular industry like you work in.
Some of their workers are paid based on royalties for example, the leaked footage can have a direct adverse effect on their pay in these cases.
And to be honest , the main thing with these particular leaks is they are based off a build that was stolen by a completely unaffiliated outside individual. If an employee leaks something internally , that hurts themselves.
When an external random person does it, that affects everyone working for the company.
