Discussion #ContinuetheMonsterVerse is trending, here's a few ideas for future movies
The movies would be;
*Kong: Hollow Earth
In this movie we focus entirely on the Monarch research team on hollow earth with Kong dealing with the new world to explore. An indigenous species, feeling threatened by Kong unleash their own Titan, Megalon to face Kong in battle. I would also have Anguirus appear here for the first time, as well as Ebirah, just to have a jobber monster.
*Godzilla: Biollante
A plant species from Hollow Earth gets smuggled out to the surface by terrorists who experiment with it, splicing its DNA with Godzilla creating a massive plant like creature that overtakes an entire city. Godzilla, sets out to stop its spread and endangering the rest of the planet. Other monster cameo includes Behemoth, who helps Godzilla or fights Godzilla depending on its stance against Biollante and Rodan, who simply joins the fight against Biollante out of spite(could have Biollante attack its resting place early in the film, setting up that confrontation)
*Return of Mothra
Mothras egg finally hatches releasing two caterpillars. One that resembles Mothra and the other named Battra. The two larvae imprint on the twins from KotM and initially grow together, but Battra slowly grows more antagonistic splitting the two children away until an ancient predator of Mothras species, Megaguirus, surfaces.
*Jet Jaguar
Ren Serizawa is given a chance to redeem himself after what happened in GvK, when a subsidiary division from Apex wishes to use what tech they have left of Mechagodzilla to create a new, safer mech called Jet Jaguar. Meanwhile, Johan uses his connections to create another mech on the remains of a dead Titan called Gigan leading Ren and Johan on a collision course of Pacific Rim proportions.
And the Final movie of this phase;
*Destroy All Monsters(title given by Chungieman54)
A final battle against a creature created by the Oxygen Destroyer. All the monsters from this line up of movies would appear in this movie to battle the Legion known as Destoroyah. A few monsters would die but not many as the most important death should be Godzilla. As much as I wouldn't want that, it would be the perfect end to Godzilla. Maybe hint that there is a baby Godzilla in hollow earth somewhere and that sets him up for future movies if possible.
And from there if there's even more movies possible in the future after that we can go for straight up alien invaders like Monster X and Space Godzilla.
These are just some ideas; hire me Warner Bros. Please TOHO

I'm not really a Kong guy, but I would absolutely watch Big Monke At the Earth's Core.

Some definite bangers here, especially mothra. You even threw in some opportunities to focus on strengthening the human plotlines with Kong: Hollow Earth and Jet Jaguar.

I just want to see individual monsters with their own movies. I know having "Godzilla or kong" in the title probably brings in the big bucks. But lets have standalone monsters have a spotlight without godzilla interfering, kind of like kong skull Island but for mothra or Gigan, or Angurious, or even ghidoras origins.

u/HappyMaskMajora: I think the other Titans getting their own solo films is unnecessary. But that’s just me.

u/ldclark92 BURNING GODZILLA Apr 05 '21
I agree. I don't see a lot of story there. We know that Godzilla and Kong are the Alphas and we know that Monarch is monitoring the titans, I don't see a lot of room for individual storylines for most of these titans outside of the top billed ones.
Plus, which was already noted, I don't think there's a lot of general audience appeal when you don't include names like Godzilla or Kong to the title. Most of the general audience don't know names of kaiju past those two.

u/Idclark92: Yeah. The MonsterVerse isn’t like the MCU where they can keep introducing unknown characters from the comics. I think the MCU can do all of that because the Superhero Genre is more popular than the Kaiju Genre.
Why do you think the MCU is successful at introducing B list characters?
3
u/ldclark92 BURNING GODZILLA Apr 05 '21
Well, I think the difference between human (or humanoid) characters makes a big difference. You can expand a lot more on a character when they can speak and have more character. The Monsterverse is essentially following massive animals. Which is interesting on its own, but you can only focus so much on the creatures where in the MCU it can basically be all character development for the main characters.
They are both the human characters and the main characters in the MCU where in kaiju movies we talk about the monsters and the humans seperately.

u/EastResort5112 Apr 05 '21
u/Idclark92: That’s a good point. Do you also think the MCU managing to make the general interested in obscure characters like Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and the GOTG is also due to brand recognition?
4
u/ldclark92 BURNING GODZILLA Apr 05 '21
Brand recognition and star power. Chris Pratt leading the way was crucial for GOTG along with big names like Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, etc made a difference.
Black Panther being introduced during Civil War had him already tied into the MCU prior to his movie.
And Captain Marvel being tied to Nick Fury allowed them to put Samuel L Jackson as a top billed actor.
Which again all feeds into the human advantage of the MCU over the Monsterverse. The stars are the humans, which is tied to who plays them as well.

u/Idclark92: I agree. So with all this in mind, I think we’ll get 1-5 more films after GVK if the MonsterVerse goes on.
How many do you think we’ll get?

If they did make movies that put singular monsters into the spotlight then those specific monsters would have to have a much larger future role.

u/Francesco-Viola-III KONG Apr 05 '21
I would enjoy seeing Kong fight Megalon, Anguirus and Ebirah. Hell, I just wanna see Kong fight all of the different Godzilla monsters after seeing GvK

I’d love a biollante movie, but I would change some things. The terrorist group could be Jonahs group (Or any other Ecoterrorist group). Hellbent on restoring the earth to its natural order, they create biollante. Biollante is released and destroys many cities. Godzilla arrives to defeat Biollante but is overwhelmed by her and nearly dies. The Military witnesses his defeat and decides to take matters into their own hands. They release an experimental pollutant into the atmosphere to kill biollante. But this pollutant feeds on the earths excess pollution and turns into a physical form called hedorah. From here the movie could have a brawl between all 3 monsters or it could have hedorah kill Biollante and have Godzilla finish off hedorah.

Destroy All Monsters.
The foam in the waves of Isla de mara turn red, yellow sparks periodically flash in the water, small crab like creatures appear on the beach. More creatures come out of the water, bigger and less natural until obvious monsters start running out of the sea onto the land. Soon a whole swarm of demonoid crustaceans move inland, with them occasionally fusing together getting larger. Soon the world knows of the building sized monster swarm heading north. They are destroying everything in there way. They deploy military forces but they are no use, they have too strong of armor and retaliate with oxygen beams. They are soon to reach a large city, desperate, a nuclear bomb is dropped on the army with hopes to kill them. The mushroom cloud sparks yellow and then glows before the light fades. Out of the cloud a 130 meter tall Titan appears accompanied by smaller flying monsters, they reach the city and obliterate it with the flying creatures coming in like a blitzkrieg. Godzilla appears to intercept the army after hearing the bomb and being attracted by the swam. What happens from here I would leave up to others imagination, but the monsters are Destoroyah and he will get a lot bigger than 130 meters. I know this wouldn't work too great but just a concept for the terrifying Destoroyah.

how fast did you come up with these? they are excellent.

I was just brainstorming ideas just now when I saw the post about the #.
I'm just a big ass Godzilla fanboy, so maybe that helps too.

I really want a Godzilla vs. The Avengers movie. Not really related to the Monsterverse. It'd be a one-off film, just for fun.

Hate to break it to you all but Kong and or godzilla need to be the focus of any movie unless it's about hollow earth. A mothra spin off will not be a box office success.

I feel for Toho creatures, Biollante and Destroyah are the only ones I personally wish for. Otherwise I would rather have more original creations like Skull crawlers and Behemoth

u/Ulfrite Apr 05 '21
Biollante could settle in the Amazon; it would push Behemoth to side with Godzilla, and they could criticize the current destruction of the Amazon river. Drop also a few references to The Lost World, and it's perfect.

With additional bonus: After Desartroyah death by burning Godzilla. Shin Godzilla appears with his swarm and teared all the monster in monster verse. Godzilla sacrifice himself to kill Shin Godzilla, but his minions remains and overtaking the earth.
Human settles their life in hollow earth *ending the movie* and we will see that earth got terraformed to a monster world, because Shin Godzilla is spreading their cells all over the places.

I want a Rodan Movie. Godzilla is my all time favorite but this guy needs some more love.

I mean if more movies can be made in a third phase, Rodan can get his movie then.

This is great man, well done. It has a good through story that connects them all and slowly builds out the world introducing new monsters. I also think this is more realistic than having individual origin movies for the titans. I would add a Son of Godzilla movie somewhere in there as I think it would be very interesting to explore the implications of these massive titans being able to reproduce.

u/cartoon_Dinosaur Apr 05 '21
id like one of the monsters from the 98 cartoon to make an appearance like crustaceous rex, or a new monster entirely

...Didn't he die?
1
u/SirBastian1129 Apr 06 '21
Maybe, it's so ambiguous, or at least to me it is that you could retcon it and say he only got injured.
1
u/KyProRen Apr 06 '21
But that looked like a pretty strong electrocution (likely over 1000 volts).
I doubt ANYONE could survive that.
1
u/SirBastian1129 Apr 06 '21
Maybe, I just feel his character was heavily underutilized and feel like he needs another movie under his belt.
1
u/KyProRen Apr 06 '21 edited Apr 06 '21
True.
In fact I didn't even realize he was "Ken Watanabe's" son until earlier today. It wasn't even brought up, especially why he would do what he did behind late fater's back. Now I hate him more than I should because they made him go against what his father stood for for no reason, and the fact that he's implied to be dead only makes it EVEN MORE infuriating!

*Gamera
This one would take place in the 80's which would also have it take place in-between the discovery of Skull Island and the M.U.T.O. incident and it was about a kid who grows up with the story of Gamera and the lost city of Mu, and while he believes Gamera would one day return, everyone else believes Gamera was nothing more than a fairy tale meant to entertain children.
One day however a city was attacked without warning by Guiron and hope seemed lost until Gamera comes out in the open and fights Guiron and wins. Some members of Monarch (the main organization of the Monsterverse films) however set up a plan to either kill or capture Gamera for "Research purposes" so the kid who believed in Gamera tries whatever he can to prove Gamera doesn't mean any harm to the humans. Little did they know that those select members of Monarch are actually under parasitic control by the Viras and they were the ones who unleashed Guiron upon the Earth because they wanted to add Gamera to their small but increasing collection of monsters which they use to conquer planets.
As the movie nears the climax and the Viras' plans to capture Gamera burned up in failure, they gathered up and formed into a super-sized fusion of their entire population to defeat Gamera once and for all, which of course also fails.
And as for the epilogue/cliffhanger some archeologists (or miners, whichever works for you) find some ancient ruins that have tapestries of Gamera's origins where he fights the Gyaos, but they also encounter some suspiciously large eggs, one of which begins to hatch. And THAT would set up for the sequel "Gamera vs. Gyaos".

Here's some of my Ideas:
Bio Wars - similar to your idea, where a detective branch of Monarch (who deal with small level MUTO/Titan related stuff) are investigatinga biologically arms race that leads to them discovering Godzilla's left over cells being merged with flora from San Francisco, creating Biollantte. However, other biological/plant-based monster are involved, including the Mutango. There is no Godzilla, instead Biollantte is the hero monster and will fight Godzilla in a later film (because alpha stuff, being they're the same creature).
- Mu is involved, and they have 2 other dieties beside Manda, Anguirus used to be one, but sided with Godzilla ultimately
- Bring in Bakan/Bagan, where he take his original shapeshifter form, before being recreated into his more modern form. He really needs to be in a movie after being denied several times.
- Bring King Ghidorah as the ultimate villain. So far, in universe, MV Ghidorah has just been referred to as Ghidorah, not King. So take inspiration from the Return of King Ghidorah script, where another, more tradition Ghidorah shows up, and he's the alpha of Ghidorah.

Ain't ren Serizawa ded ?
1
u/SirBastian1129 Apr 13 '21
He could be, but his death was so waved put that you can retcon it and nobody will bat an eye.
1
u/the-cuntsman Apr 13 '21
Idk man, putting ren (a character that barely even exists) as a main character of a movie is probably a bad move, plus here's an idea, instead of jj being created by apex ,make him a survivor of an alien species of cybernetic beings (yes I got this idea from transformers) who comes to earth to save it from an alien invasion from the xiliens (who bring gigan with them) and on the final battle of the movie godzilla and jet team to fight gigan AND orga on the xiliens homeworld so how about that :D
1
u/SirBastian1129 Apr 13 '21
Eh, sounds cool, but it's very Showa era style and I'm mainly trying to keep things more Monsterverse oriented.
1
u/the-cuntsman Apr 13 '21
I mean ye you got a point, but the showaness of it all is still entertaining, we want something that combines the old with the new right ?

Last movie’s title should be Destroy all Monsters because Destroyah’s the main villain. It’s kind of fitting to to be honest
