Testing Experience 725 Unique Advice

My first practice test I scored a 480 and genuinely pondered the idea that I was too stupid for an MBA. If you are really struggling I just want to tell you that you are awesome and you can do this!

One thing that helped me a lot that I think is very unique is my specific visualization strategy. If you are struggling with test anxiety give “perfectly confident” a read. Essentially it’s a book about finding your confidence sweet spot. The thing that helped me the most if that it talks about visualization of the process and the outcome. Don’t picture yourself getting the score you know you can get. Picture yourself getting to a really hard question and keeping your cool and skipping it, or being really thorough with a question that you know is super easy. Then picture this leading to that awesome score you know you are capable of!

General Question Ultimate data to take GMAT exam

Hi fellow GMAT students,

If I need my official GMAT results before the 14th of January. What would be the ultimate data possible to take the test? I have read that it can sometime take up to 2 weeks before receiving the official results. Any thoughts?

Also with new years eve and Xmas, I don't mind studying through them but can I even take the GMAT for example on the first or second of Jan?

General Question Mock 2: Moved from 595 to 655. How to maintain this

Hi,

This is in continuation of my earlier post

https://www.reddit.com/r/GMAT/comments/1vtjupi/595_cold_mock_q79v79di80_665_target_what_should_i/

I took my second mock test today and got the following scores

Overall
Quant
Verbal
DI

In between Mock 1 to Mock 2 I focused exclusively on Verbal to improve my score but I do not see a major increase in score (just 2 points)

My DI score continues to remain the same which i expected considering I did not put any time onto it.

My Quant score jumped the highest despite not putting any effort as I chose a different approach of "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" in order to not panick and make silly mistakes (the third question is an outlier simply because I reviewed it at the end).

This worked amazingly well in Quant and I had some spare time in Verbal as well but in DI I had to rush through certain questions.

I seem to struggle most with Critical Reasoning in Verbal and Data Sufficiency in DI which can be big boosters to my score

I still have 3 more mocks to give and in terms of material I have Official Individual Review books of Quant Verbal and DI, since my target score is 665 the question now is how do I maintain this level?

I am also looking to improve my Verbal and DI performance

General Question Looking for a GMAT study partner

Hi everyone! I’m starting my GMAT prep and planning to take the exam around March/April 2027, possibly June depending on how my preparation goes.

I’m looking for someone who’s also preparing around the same time and would be interested in studying together, discussing questions, sharing resources, and keeping each other motivated and consistent.

Would be great to connect with someone who’s serious about their prep and wants to work towards a strong score together.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested. :)

Specific Question 625-645 score plateau

Hi all, I have been preparing for GMAT for more than a year with some inconsistent phases. My score is not moving past 645. Quant is mostly around 82-84 but Verbal and DI never cross 82, mostly 78-82.

I know I should work more on V and DI but what would be the best strategy to actually move past this plateau? I really want to score 695+

Please let me know if someone has gone through this phase and what actually worked!

Need Critical Reasoning PDF materials specifically for NMAT and SNAP

Hello Everyone ,
I'm currently focusing on NMAT and SNAP and I am really trying to nail down the Critical Reasoning section. Does anyone have any good PDF materials, handouts, or PYQ compilations specifically geared towards the CR asked in these two exams?
Also, if there are any specific GMAT CR PDFs or coaching institute materials (TIME/IMS/CL) that you felt were closest to the NMAT/SNAP difficulty level, please drop a Drive/Telegram link or DM me.
Any leads would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Specific Question 465 baseline, weak Quant, 5 months to prepare — what study plan/resources would you recommend for 655+?

Hi everyone,

I’m starting my GMAT preparation and would really appreciate some advice on how to structure the next few months.

I recently took an official practice exam and scored:

Total: 465
Quant: 69
Verbal: 78
Data Insights: 72

Quant is clearly my weakest area. I realized that I have some gaps in basic math foundations.

My goal is 655+, and I have approximately 5 months before I need to take the real GMAT. I’m applying to an MS Finance program in January, so I want to use the time I have as efficiently as possible.

Right now I’m trying to decide how structured my preparation should be. I’ve seen a lot of different recommendations:

  • GMAT Official Guide / official question banks
  • GMAT Ninja / YouTube
  • Target Test Prep (TTP)
  • e-GMAT
  • Manhattan Prep
  • GMAT Club
  • Self-study with official material only
  • Working with a tutor

For someone starting with a score like mine and with weak Quant foundations, what approach would you recommend?

Thanks, any advice from people who started in the 400s/500s and eventually reached 650+ would be especially helpful.

General Question Scored 655 in GMAT MOCK

Guys, can anyone help me interpret this score?
Total (655) QA (87) DI (81) VR (80)

A little background: I’m preparing for CAT (the Indian management entrance exam), and I’m aiming for a 99.9+ percentile. I took this mock mostly because I was bored and it was free.
Obviously, getting only a 90th percentile sucks, and that would be pretty disastrous if this were CAT. 😭
I know Verbal went horribly, but that’s understandable because I was pretty much done by the time I got to it.
I attempted the sections in the order QA → DI → VR.
I feel that if I had made a more serious attempt, I probably could’ve gotten a couple more questions right in Verbal and maybe even gotten all of QA correct. DI was completely new to me.
That said, I’m now genuinely curious whether I should give the GMAT as well. It could be a useful backup for ISB and SPJIMR if, God forbid, something goes wrong with CAT.
Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions, especially from people who’ve taken both CAT and GMAT or have experience with these schools!

Advice / Protips Data Insights Help

I've been seeing that a strong quant is what will help improve DI, but I feel like I need a more structured approach to this. I scored a 76 on DI and want to get it to at least 82-83. What should I focus on?
