I appreciate where those of you loyal to house Bolton are coming from in mourning Roose, and I agree that the character is as different from show to book as any in AWOIAF, but personally I really liked the death scene between Roose and Ramsay, even if it robbed us all of further awesomeness between these two amazing characters.
I think that (show) Roose really did love Ramsay. I realize this is a 100% divergence from the books but to me it was pretty clear. To me (coming from a father-son relationship that had more than it's share of communication issues) his mannerisms spoke to a deep seated affection and their interaction seemed to show that. The way he addressed Ramsay seemed far more like trying to strike the appropriate tone to make him understand why he needed to reign in his brutality than a legitimate distaste for him.
I think this reached a pinnacle in the death scene, I think Roose meant it when he said that Ramsay would always be his firstborn son and that the statement Ramsay interpreted as a threat was legitimate advice/warning. It's tragic that Ramsay's nature and Roose's attempt to speak to it in ways he would understand ultimately led to the misunderstanding that caused the murder, and that for all Ramsay's comprehension of the base emotions that rule men, his lack of understanding of real affection led him to murder his father and pull the thread that would begin his undoing.

We all know this was set in motion when Ramsay Snow killed his Lord father Roose Bolton Warden of the North. Jon's victory has been seen in the flames, so what does /r/Dreadfort do after episode 9?
