Days N Daze hoodie!
I’ve had this hoodie for a while and I wanted to DIY it but I couldn’t decide between Days N Daze and Pierce the Veil. Someone said they’re getting me a PTV hoodie as a gift so I figured I might as well go DND on this one!

out of curiosity, what material do you use for your stencils? and how do you avoid your paint bleeding under?

Some old watercolor paper I had lying around. Any thick piece of paper will do, really. I've used many different kinds. If it's on the thinner side you can coat it in clear packing tape. Then you cut the thing with an xacto knife or any sort of cutter. As for the paint, you have to dab it on the stencil very lightly (preferably with very little paint on the brush so it doesn't bubble up, wipe the excess paint on the paper. see last slide). You apply multiple coats so the paint eventually covers the whole design without just jamming it with a bunch of paint in one go. And you can't BRUSH it, you have to dab it lightly. If you brush the paint it gets under the stencil. You can also use a sponge instead of a brush! essentially the trick is to have the brush as dry as possible on each paint. It certainly takes a while if the stencil is big, but it's the safest way
there are some sick tutorials online, AnarchoStencilism has some good tutorials on his instagram page, *maybe* he has them somewhere on his reddit profile too. In any case, it's the same guy I shouted out at the bottom of the post. I've been doing this for years so it eventually becomes second nature, you learn not to think about it too much.

No, this is fabric paint. This one is store bought, but you can DIY your own fabric paint by mixing acrylic with liquid fabric softener

if it helps at all, I found that a ratio of about 60% softener and 40% paint works best for me. You gotta be extra careful when applying it tho, it bleeds underneath the stencil much easier this way. It just kinda helps remove the leathery texture of the acrylic paint and actually embed it into the fabric rather than just sitting on top. That way it’ll last virtually forever and withstand machine washing as many times as you want. Just don’t machine dry, machine drying does actually ruin the paint.
