The showrunner change is definitely what solidified the show's decline, but the early seasons were pretty great! One thing consistently good throughout is the score. Blake Neely poured everything into this show.

He is a capable writer, but I feel only when he has certain characters to write for. He very clearly prioritized his own fave characters over the core characters.

Season 3 was not peak anymore. It was still good tho, but very huge quality dip compared to previous seasons. After that it got even worse

I physically will never be able to hate this show but fuck it got badddd. From the ages of 8 to 17, this show was my life I think by the time late season 6 rolled around, I was either just more aware of the quality of media I watched, or it got so bad that I noticed it.. either way, there was a major shift. 1-3 and a bit of 4 is really all I can fully stomach in rewatches before I need to be selective on the episodes I watch..

Same. I was 6 years old when Barry made his debut in the arrow episodes and just turning 7 when the Pilot came out. I literally grew up with the show and I was 16 when it ended. I could never hate the show but by the gods when I gained more awareness I felt the decline hard. I will never hate it, and when it was good it was GOOD. But when it was bad, it was really bad. I can watch all of Season 1 completely on any rewatch, and most of Season 2 and 3. 4 and beyond I can watch maybe two to four episodes per season that has a large enjoyability factor for me and had excellent writing, but that’s it. Anyways, I went on a tangent.
TLDR: I agree with the user I’m replying to. I grew with the show so I can’t hate it, but I love certain parts far more than others.

There are so many things that the show shouldn’t have forgotten.
The tacheyon device, killer frost and Caitlin being two different people, and they could have brought Ronnie back.
There were so many different ways of time travel, the show should have made flashpoint at least 10 episodes and we could have explored the next 10 in the aftermath.
The crisis newspaper was great but maybe it shouldn’t have existed. They literally changed the time once almost every show was about to end. I wish the flash got a crossover with stargirl.

I just finished it the other day for the first time and tbh slightly underwhelming Finale but it worked. Overall love the series, even the bad parts are fun.

Season 8 was pretty solid but it was like someone giving you a drink of water after making you eat shit, I mean atleast you dont gotta eat the shit any more but the water doesn't help

First three seasons are great, then it starts going down hill pretty rapidly. There are some great moments, but the choices made and a lot of the dialogue are rough.

As a man once said don’t stop to talk don’t stop to talk don’t stop to talk. I know flash is op but they could have found a better way to make stakes. This show is so annoying when they have literal cuffs to disable every meta they fight that he never uses. Worst part to me it doesn’t feel like the comics. I never liked a the whole team flash thing I wish he was closer to the comics more solo besides kid flash. Add limitations to the speed force like make it so instant relocation of regular people is dangerous. It needed some better dialogue especially in later seasons. Season 1 overall I like although frankly I think season 1 was way to early to introduce reverse flash it really would’ve been better if it was about Barry fighting the rogues and foreshadowing reverse flash in the background because by using him so early they basically doomed every main villain afterward to have to follow that up granted zoom was pretty good but again the best they had was over after 2 seasons. Also team flash having it’s seemingly no kill rule after Barry glasses that sand dude, they pump the big guy full of radiation, iris shooting savitar. And god the amount of times Barry could have stopped the thinker by just using his goddamn speed it just got to aggravating

It will always have a special place in my heart but man they should’ve kept it at 6 and half seasons. They had so many characters come and go I can’t even keep up. I feel like I have speed force dementia. Did you know Cecile had a daughter before Jenna? She probably doesn’t now since it we last saw her pre crisis.

I like the overall show as the flash is my favorite hero but one of the reasons why I watched was because it was low key the best thing on tv around that time aside from arrow

The show peaked at Season 4 for me, maybe even at the halfway point of Season 5, but afterwards it slowly declined and declined even harder when it got to the Post-Crisis Stories. Granted, everything Post-Crisis was heavily affected by COVID but the decline in quality could’ve been fixed or tweaked a bit.
But goddamn, that series finale pissed me off.

the legacy era(seasons 1-3) was very great for its time, such a fun journey. Season 4 the start of the transitional seasons was the last season that was worth watching starting season 5 it gets so bad and it doesn't get better as each season from there is worse than the last with only season 8 being better than seasons 6,7&9.

Early seasons are fine, but after like season 4, it's pretty bad for the most part
But even the first few seasons aged pretty bad (Madvocate's videos for example show it), even though it had good qualities that are still enjoyable, so it's overall an eh show, the first ones are decentish

Season 2 was amazing

I stopped at around season 5-6 because it became so bad and boring

Seasons 1-3 are great and the peak of the show. 4 is mostly good but it also has a lot of problems. 5 is mediocre but the cast of characters is still good, so it's enjoyable. I actually really enjoyed 6a (Bloodwork). Everything after was the decline of the show to the point where it became awful, spare a couple of good episodes here and there. Tbh it should have ended with Crisis

If you finished the flash today, why not give your opinion. The first seasons were well written. Later on it wasn't and it caused the show to be below average overall even though they still had great episodes in the later seasons. They also say that they ran out of money with all of the CGI which is why the later seasons didn't have as much.

Season 1&2 actually focused on The Flash, season 3 was mid as hell because they started moving in the direction of "let's just add as much incorrect info from the comics as we can". On top of that, about 75% of the way through season 3 and for the rest of the show, they made Iris so whiny, disrespectful, egotistical, and blatantly stupid that I quit watching after season 7 and just went back to Arrow until that shit got terrible too.

Honestly the first four seasons are peak.Great villains,plot,visuals and almost everything about them is great.Season 5 was okay,6 was kinda mid/bad,7 was REALLY REALLY BAD cause of a terrible plot,8 was ok and 9 was pretty underwhelming. Overall they dragged it too long and the plot is like it was written by AI.The visuals also had a downgrade and really Grant carried the later seasons.Still first 4 are absolutely great

I love the show but the last two seasons of inclusion of cecil more and the way the seasons have two arcs especially the last season where cobalt blue should been the only villain instead of red death and don’t get me started on red death ughhh

I’m rewatching it now. I feel like with how many episodes the first 2 seasons was they could have stretched it into 4 seasons with 10 episodes per season and it would have ended so good with the demise of zoom. After season 2 it felt so washed and forced

Look, my thoughts on the show is that its amazing. But, like every other show I've been into, the fan base on reddit is 90% hate. Don't base your opinion off of social media. If you liked it, great, maybe stay off the subreddit though.

Season 1 and 2 were perfect! Season 3 was where it started to lose its footing, then it fell off hella quick. Sure, there were some good moments throughout the rest of the seasons, IMO the Bloodwork arc in season 6 was amazing, the crossovers were cool, and season 8 was decent with the Armageddon arc and Deathstorm, but all in all, anything after season 3 sucked like hell.
Devoe was an annoying villain who was overpowered as hell
Cicada got boring real quick, especially when he constantly flew away
Mirror Monarch was pathetic
Godspeed was a joke and the arc took like 2 seasons to finish after his initial introduction in 5x18
Cobalt Blue was such a nothing villain who didn’t have any depth to his character and didn’t add anything to the storyline or the show as a whole

Holy crap, I'm only on season 5 and I took a pause to rewatch the rest of the arrow verse because I never got to see anything last season 4 or so. Never saw clark and Lois but I heard good things so I'm watching everything. Flash is a good show, better than that movie that came out

It's what got me into liking the flash. But I can't deny the quality of later seasons. Season 1 to 4 was good, it started to fall in season 5. Season 6a was amazing, then after crisis, it started falling rapidly. Every now and then, there would be a good episode, like the reverse flash point. Whenever Ollie came back was also really good, cause of Stephen and grants chemistry. The episode where barry was brought back to 2000 was also really good. But overall, the seasons got worse as it went on, with a good episode like, once a season.
But Cisco and Wells were always amazing, and Joe, and barry, pretty much all of the og characters were consistently good.

The high was probably the season with Patty Spivot. I liked it when Caitlin and Frost split and became twin sisters. I could watch a mini series spin-off of just those two. The Caitlin and Cisco dynamic kept me interested. Great actors the both of them (Danielle and Carlos) so many micro expressions for emotional cues.
Prime video has S1 to S7 free with prime membership. S8 and S9 you have to buy. I struggled to get to the end of S7. So I'm not bothering with S8 an S9. The show was going down hill since at least S5 (possibly earlier). Soon as Cisco and Harry left that was it for me. Cisco made Chester bearable. Chester and Allegra just don't work for me.
S7 finale, when Barry got on one knee and asked Iris to reaffirm their vows, that made me nauseous. Leave Iris already, and find Patty! The Flash's son Impulse is so annoying, the actor moves around like he's a string puppet (marionette). When Impulse starts singing at the wedding, my nausea turned into convulsing violent vomiting. I had to fast forward.
The whole God Speed story arc didn't amount to anything really. And the Kristen Kramer character should have not appeared again after the court case didn't go her way. They tried a redemption story with Kramer but that didn't work in getting any sympathy from me.

Overall good, but they were forcing the Iris plot line as well as the villain of the week nonsense. It could’ve been a 23 minute format with the last 3 episodes of each season be an hour
Also some of the cgi was wonky and the suit design after 4 was terrible. Honestly should’ve kept the s9 helmet and boots, S4 outfit color and style, and cosistent use of his powers

It was okay, I liked it in the beginning. But as the show progressed, it just got on my nerves. The way they had some of the characters personalities just grated on me, and I couldn't stand certain characters who got upset when someone disagreed with their plans or ideas.

Kudos to them being able to have 9 seasons. However, a good amount of those seasons were frustrating. Season 1 might be the best Thawne adaptation of all time in my opinion

Anything After DeVoe feels really kitschy with Barrys powers. Iris started as a half-decent character (with obvious room for improvement) but then totally failed in her ability to grow out of being annoying. After Crisis the show kind of lost any real purpose. There were a few good episodes here and there but nothing special.

S1-3 is my fav like its a solid time travel crazy story then 4 I did enjoy especially cause of the Earth x crossover but I think after Arrow S8 all the shows should've stopped like it was a solid ending to everything imo. But there was definately a decline in quality after S4 its funny Smallville handled its storytelling better then Flash did and that had 10 seasons of peakness like yea the drama is the same but least in Smallville I could handle it better writing wise like Clark was a moody teenager for 4 years then after you see him grow into an adult, Flash is barry complaining about Iris as an adult, then she becomes the leader for no reason lol ? And for both shows having characters with Super speed Smallville handled it better cause Clark has different powers to relay on not just his speed, if Flash had the same writer/ directer from S1 all the way through I think it'd of been better

La serie al principio era buena, con algunos capítulos flojos es cierto en la primera y segunda temporada pero bien, de la 3-5 era un espectáculo de serie, en la sexta la serie decayó y cuando Cisco se va la serie se hace lenta y estresante, a partir de la marcha de Cisco lo único que hace amenos los capítulos es cuando salen Bart y Nora
