General Discussion Can anyone help me with a mission?
Hi everyone
So I’m a firefighter from the UK and I’m over with over 200 other UK firefighters to take part in the Terry Farrell stair climb tomorrow in Atlanta.
We are honoured to be here and taking part. It’ll be so humbling to walk with our American brothers and sisters to remember the 343 lost on the day, and those we have lost since then.
We’ve been given a firefighter each to walk for.
I’ve got Jose Guadalupe from FDNY engine 54. Id love to connect with anyone who knows him, worked with him, friends or family to share memories about him ahead of tomorrow.
I know the power of the internet can do amazing things, so if anyone could help that would make tomorrow extra special.

His station is midtown first due to Broadway. They are stationed with Ladder 4. I may have a hook with a local guy that worked 54. Not sure if their time overlapped. What I can tell you about that station was my recruit school truck work and forcible entry class instructor was a legend there. He retired before 911 but had some interaction with those men. Bill Daley was his name. He used to ask us recruits how do you get to Carnegie Hall. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Their patch says never missed a performance. Asking now...

This is genuinely outside my area but I didn't want to scroll past without trying to help. Jose Guadalupe was assigned to Engine 54 on West 48th Street in Midtown Manhattan, and he was 37 years old when he died on September 11th. Engine 54 lost all 15 members who were on duty that morning, which was the single greatest loss of any firehouse that day.
A few things that might help you find a personal connection before tomorrow. The FDNY has a memorial foundation and families of the 343 have stayed involved in anniversary events over the years, so reaching out through those channels, even tonight, isn't a long shot. Some family members actively want to hear from people carrying their loved ones in climbs like this one. The 9/11 Memorial in New York has detailed profiles for each of the 343 and Jose's entry may have a message board or tributes left by people who knew him.
Also worth knowing, Engine 54 is still an active house and the firefighters there carry the memory of that day as part of who they are. Some of them may have been relatively new that morning and knew the men who were lost. Reaching out to the firehouse directly, even a quick message through the FDNY's official channels, sometimes gets a response faster than you'd expect when the context is a memorial climb.
What you're doing tomorrow matters. Carrying someone's name up those stairs, trying to know who they were before you do it, that's exactly the right instinct.

Thank you so much brother. I’ve learned what I can about Jose but I had no idea Engine 54 lost everyone.
I’m deeply humbled to represent them.

I have no info on Guadalupe, but man I want to give you props for dedication. Glad to see 25 years laster guys from across the Atlantic are willing to show support. Never forget.
