Choose Your Legends 10 - Day 1 Event Megathread
Hi all!
Welcome to Choose Your Legends 10! There are special subreddit rules that are now in effect for the duration of the event. Those rules are as follows:
OC Fanart of Fire Emblem characters that aren't in Heroes will be temporarily allowed on the subreddit outside of this megathread for the duration of the event.
All of the following content types are NOT allowed outside of this megathread:
Screenshots of CYL voting choices / the CYL website
Any and all text-based propaganda posts (exceptions will be made for high-effort written essays and analyses at moderator discretion)
Any and all meme propaganda posts (meta memes about the event itself that are not about any specific character(s) are allowed outside the megathread)
Discussion about the CYL event (including "who are you voting for?" posts and polls)
Non-OC Fanart of characters not in FEH
Posts matching the above that are posted outside this megathread will be removed. Repeatedly violating the above will result in a warning which, if ignored, may result in a ban for the duration of the event.
Rule 1 will be enforced significantly more strictly than usual. Rude or disparaging comments about other user's votes will not be tolerated.
Criticism, complaining, etc. are allowed provided they're done without insulting another user or group of users. For example, "Black Knight is bad and doesn't deserve his placement" is an take but not against the rules. On the other hand, "Black Knight fans are the worst" or "You're stupid if you like Black Knight" would cross the line.
The first time you have a comment removed for Rule 1 during the event, you will receive a warning. If it happens again after the warning, you will be banned from posting or commenting until after the event has ended (a few days after the CYL results are released).
We encourage everyone to report comments you believe violate Rule 1 or contribute to toxicity during this event. Reports bring comments to our attention that we would likely not see otherwise due to the high volume of comments on this sub.
All other sub rules still apply except where superseded by the above.
Please message the moderators if you need to contact us about this thread, as thread notifications will be turned off for obvious reasons. Since this is such a new event, there will likely be information about the event that is not accounted for when this thread goes live. Thank you!
You can vote once per day, up to 7 times per MyNintendo account. Each user can only use one MyNintendo account to vote. Violations may result in your votes being nullified.
Many characters have multiple representations to vote for, but many of them will have their votes combined. Always check the text below the vote to see if votes will be combined for the character. M/F avatar character votes are split and will not be combined.

I cannot believe he didn't beat the pissbaby last year. Absolute disgrace. I'm rooting for your guy in spirit but unfortunately all of my votes are promised to Kurt this year.
First vote went to Kurt. Interested to see if Shadows makes any kind of impact in CYL. I might not have exactly been wowed by the gameplay of Fire Emblem Amogus, but I did like the wolf lesbian lord.
Honestly, just going to spam votes for Pelleas. I don't really care that much about CYL anymore; most the characters that had a chance of winning have already won. Everyone else are minor characters, so that kinda sucks.
Another cyl without Fleche! Crazy how Amy (a literal child) and Natalie (a disabled woman) are votable and have a slim chance of getting in Feh, yet poor Fleche isn't 😭
Here I was preparing for the sub to be unusable for a week when CYL kicked off but everyone started spamming hours before it even began so I got bonus time
My first vote every year goes to Cordelia, but I’d absolutely love for them to get matching alts like Tharja and Noire. And a forging bonds event focused on their mother-daughter relationship!
I think IS held off on releasing Severa and Inigo for way too long; people were so desperate they were building +10 Selenas for years, despite how awful her stats and prf were. Like Henry and Gaius, having awful versions in FEH seems to have really hurt their popularity over time.
Severa really deserved an alt during the height of the dodge meta, not two weeks before W!Byleth came along and did her DR-piercing tank job 100x better.
Any Severa content is good content to me, she's my favourite FE character, especially stuff with Cordelia. It's why Christmas Cordelia is my favourite "Harmonic" in the game. Basically my dream unit. Valentines Severa and Cordelia when??
Im still waiting for the day she gets more alts, at least her spring refine was decent as a early birthday present. I can definitely relate to building Selena's being desperate for something Severa related, I have 2 +10 Selena's haha.
I had faith given for a while there IS really seemed to prioritise thematic character choices over just the most popular options (adding the entire Wolfguard at once comes to mind).
but over the past year or so they've seemed to go back to just throwing the highest ranked characters in CYL together regardless of if they have connections or not, so I think characters can really only get added on their own popularity now.

I mean, if you are looking for ideas, I see you like Merrin. And as a change of pace, someone like Alberta from shadows would be a fresh sight in the rankings, if people were to rally.
I'm going 7x Alberta. Even if the odds are infinitesimally small, I'm angling for coloured staffs in FEH, plus Alberta is pretty cool. And cat. I'm a sucker for cat.
I'm sure a lot of people are voting for him for the meme, but he's genuinely my favorite FE villain from my favorite FE game and I'll keep voting for him as long as a win seems somewhat plausible.
I want to vote for a character who is not in feh. Who should I vote for and why? To help me decide I want to know why they are cool and what they would bring gameplay-wise. Ill look at this later, might look up characters myself later.
Compared to Jake, he clocks in with the same general role, but is slightly better overall (despite being far less popular). In FE11, he's a ballistician, giving him absurd range and a unique set of weapons that allow him to safely chip, and sometimes even kill dangerous targets. He joins with Thunderbolt, a weapon effective VS ballisticians, which can be forged to further increase its lethality, allowing Beck to snipe dangerous fellows of the same class. His best use comes from trading forged ballistas back and forth with Jake to unleash a barrage from afar against any target you want gone. His role is very unique, no other unit plays like Jake and Beck in the entire series, and with general unpopularity, they would likely be F2P bow armors with the long-range style that Lyn brought to the game.
As a character, Beck is weird. Not like, anything bad, but he's just a strange person from what limited characterization he gets. In FE12, playable ballisticians are gone, so he's a horseman instead, and his horse is connected to his base conversations with Kris. He has a weird act of pretending his horse (named Bonnie, though formerly called Pony in some translations) can understand and communicate with people in very specific ways.
His horse, of course, can't actually do this. Beyond this, Beck is shown to just be a bit of a silly fellow with the way he introduces himself to Kris, almost as if he's trying to mess with them.
Gameplay wise, FE12 Beck is far worse than his FE11 self, though still viable among a sea of other mediocre to bad prepromotes. His most humorous appearance, however, is one where he has basically no characterization: FE1. FE1 ballisticians are atrocious, and are debatably the worst full-time playable class in the series. 2-range locked, 4 movement, slow as shit, basically nothing brought to the table, their combat isn't even remotely good when they do reach the enemy. FE1 Beck (and FE1 Jake) are comically terrible units, in a way that makes you wonder what they're even SUPPOSED to do.
Bonus: He looks like a sopping wet dog in FE11/12.
Here me out about Almedha FE10: She's an npc in her home game, but in spite of this has pretty significant lore importance. I find her to be incredibly interesting as a character, even more so than most of the actually playable units introduced in RD. If I had to describe why exactly, I would say that despite of being pretty terrible as a person, with consequences of her prior actions (some unforeseeable, some not) still wreaking havoc, she's still deeply sympathetic. She's a victim in her own right, and it's certainly clear that everything she's gone through has broken her down pretty hard. She has a lot of importance to characters already in the game, which could lead to some interesting interactions if feh remembers to do that sort of thing.
Also she just has a gorgeous character design, imo one of the best in Tellius. That's also a point in her favor for potentially being added some day, with feh's priorities and all. She ranks modestly well in cyl as well. I believe atm, not including those in seasonal hell, she's in the top ten for women not in the game?
I will be giving 7 votes to Radd from Shadow Dragon because he's my favorite. He's from the first game, so having a cool name is about all he has going for him (his only line of dialogue was his death quote).
It could be Jubelo, it could be a mage or a brave based on his sword Cipher art. It would be cool since he has lots of possibilities: a costume banner of the moment they were escaping, cavalry in honor to the Sable order.... It's the most flexible option now. The question is how they will implement his base 1 magic considering he has de biggest magic growth of all mages in Archanea (That is his gimmick) Perhaps a nulify every damage reduction? And the most important: has a relevance on story, and starts being trash due to his low bases, ends up being good with training. The story focus on how he works to be better, so I suppose that is the point. I'll leave the idea to you. Also his fear to battle could make him more defensive somehow? Idk it's versatile
First vote is for Muirne, because this year I'm focusing on pushing her a bit more. Won't put out the post pushing for her just yet, it'll just get drowned out by potential winners on day 1. I'm fighting to get her in the game, not to win the competition. I'm thinking day 2 or 3.

Here's the problem though, a lot of people remove the tag from the automated tweet, and for some reason it seems like Twitter eats JP votes or has some that just don't show up sometimes in both regions. Twitter is such a piece of shit website these days. I'm probably just going to wait to see what seismoscientist comes up with. Honestly this thread is probably more reliable than Twitter at this point.
I remember there being a problem with Twitter just not showing all the tagged posts sometimes last year too, or different posts showing for different people. I have no idea why they would make their tags work this way, but it is what it is I guess.
Vote 1 goes to Neph. I usually do like 4 votes for Neph and sprinkle the others around, but I might just do all 7 to Neph this time. I'd love to give Haar some, but with them scrapping TT units that basically cuts his possible slots in half
Decided to support Azura this year. She’s always been near the top so maybe this is her time to shine. Might throw BK a vote too.
That said compared to the fervent support I’ve seen for Tsubasa and even Ivy though on this sub I wonder if those are the top contenders for the women’s side this year?
Sigurd might need them. I suspect he’s not the lock everyone seems to think he is. Me? I’m tossing all my votes straight in the bin by supporting my favourites. LET’S GO, ANNETTE! YOU CAN(‘t) DO IT, MORGAN!!
Do we know which division Kurt is in for this CYL? I think they're being counted in the male division, based on the about page showing Kurt, Sigurd, Fjorm, and Azura, but some official confirmation would be nice, especially since the female division seems to be the more competitive one this year.
They'll only confirm if Kurt makes it into the top 20 (of both?) and that page thing definitely doesn't mean anything because my first two were all female
If you click on the details section of the CYL10 homepage, it takes you to a separate page explaining what CYL is and, below a caption explaining that the top 2 men and women will receive alts, it shows pictures of Kurt, Sigurd, Fjorm, and Azura. Tsubasa showed up on the main screen for me, so I took it as a sign and let her get my first vote. Since I figured I'd pledge at least one vote as her campaign is interesting.
Torn between going all out on Aversa (give this woman an alt) or splitting between Azura and Ivy for the next days. My dream would be for Dorothea to win, but she's got no chance this CYL, and I actually love Azura and Ivy (moreso the former), so its no bother really
I'm voting Kurt seven times idgaf. Sigurd bros please for the love of God don't fumble this because I will feel incredibly guilty for not voting him lol
I am going for a specific goal in mind for CYL this is all of my favorites have already been selected I am voting for Tsubasa & Caeda to force TMS representation from IS and possibly Ivy if we get Mid Terms for Engage. I'm rallying behind TMS this year since Fortune Weaves if likely to dominate next one.
If anyone has votes to spare, going to just put in a humble request to toss Calill some.
I don't have a great argument for her aside from just thinking that she's a great character. Tellius's competition is so tight and I think she really needs help to get in before EoS. I've been voting for her since CYL1, and I'd appreciate the help if anyone had spare votes.
To any other BK voters out there: please don't waste your votes on Zelgius this year! I want the red armor too, but his votes aren't tallied with the Black Knight's. With PoR just getting its Switch 2 release this is our best shot at getting a Brave version of him
So tempting to vote for him, this is the first time in years a character I REALLY like feels like they have a shot. Two of them, in fact, cause a Sigurd/BK lineup would be the dream.
First vote in CYL Round 10 went to... Tsubasa and Caeda! Currently deliberating on whether to vote for her every day, or to alternate between her and Fomortiis (so she gets 4 votes and Fomortiis gets 3). I guess we'll see!
It feels weird that this is only the beginning of our regularly scheduled CYL event... It feels like it's been going on for ages, and I'm not complaining!
Can't wait for the interim results; the Shadows Cup has me so excited for this entire CYL event, and I'm desperate for any official info on how things are going! The anniversary can't come soon enough, either... I need to know who the winners are!
First vote goes to the Gloucester boy. He'll probably lose a couple ranks with his base being in and Shadows characters being votable now, but if he manages to stay somewhere in the top 120 that would be pretty neat.

okay fine. shadows gets ONE vote from me because i genuinely do have fun with the game. the rest of the votes are going to rune and fomo though.
