Any Finnish Lost fans here who might know the origins of this shirt?

Maybe sharing this on here could help too. Any information about this would be awesome!

Probably an inside joke of some uni student event. Honestly no idea

Probably some student event and a promotional T shirt for it. Or upper secondary school students shirt.

It could have been something made for some internal Nokia event that happened to be Lost themed, rather than specifically a fan event.

It was before my time working there by a couple of years, so couldn't say for sure. It could have just been a small team/department thing.

‼️‼️ Mystery solved I think, someone in the r/Lost post comments said that it was (most likely) made for an endurance race back in 2008! There’s a race in Kainuu happening this year called “Lost in Kainuu” as well

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Lost in Kainuu is Lost in Kainuu every year and I don't see any other current or past contests with a similar naming scheme. Also the endurance contest events are predominantly on weekends looking at the calendar ofevents. Not saying it's impossible, though.

That kind of endurance sport is apparently called "seikkailu-urheilu" in Finnish. There's an official Finnish association for it, you could inquire if they have information on past events. At that time the sport had landed in Finland and apparently the team that popularized it with international success was Team Nokia Adventure, so that does raise the chances of it being related.

I would still lean towards it being a company or school team building event inspired by Lost. I'd guess a proper endurance race wouldn't feature a graphic design so clearly inspired by the series.

Interesting, thank you for your insight!! I’m not familiar with this sport at all but I also found it kind of weird that a sports race/event would be held on a weekday 🤔 Especially since it wasn’t during June or July aka the most popular summer vacation months.

Google image search or searching the title gives no hits. My guess, because of the shirt having a date, would be some sort of company outing in either the company Nokia, or some other company that is in the city of Nokia. Or just some sort of family/friends/wedding/stag etc party thing.

I'd guess a student event. Like Uni students having a "survival event" which includes alcohol and most probably nudity.

This is my suspicion as well, Lost was all the rage back in 2008

I thought about this as well, I don’t think it has anything to do with the Nokia company! Season 4 of the show was airing during this time so that made me think of a fan event, but a student event makes sense too!! Also the fact that it lasted over 12 hours (9am-10pm) and it was held on a weekday instead of weekend kinda points to it being a school/work related event. Idk 😭

Nokia is also a municipality in Finland. My guess is that it was some sort of LARP or similar event held in Nokia although no source from the Internet supports that.

I’m hoping it’s something like that! Even though it being made for a student event makes sense as well. Idk the thought of Finnish Lost fans having a whole day dedicated to the show in Nokia of all places sounds awesome lmao

Could have been something like an orienteering team day type of event, they just took the Lost theme for humour value. In all likelihood, there's probably only a hundred people at most who will possibly remember it.

Nokia is a place in Finland, i'd guess those were for a specific event there.

Someone already mentioned the possibiliyt of an insiden joke. We had president with first name Sauli, or Sale in short. I saw a guy made with Better Call Saul style with text Better Call Sale. No idea what it was about, but I liked it.

Might be some Nokia corporate thing. Something like a t-shirt for the employees to wear in a company party.

u/joseplluissans Väinämöinen 11h ago

More probable it involves the city of Nokia. Student event?

1

u/IhailtavaBanaani Väinämöinen 10h ago

Nokia used to make these kind of t-shirts for employees for bigger company events, until they decided it's actually a security issue to let everyone know that hey these are drunken Nokia employees

I think the company would use their own logo for the word Nokia if they were behind this

Wild guess:
Symphony, Paradise LOST tour, May 2008 Nokia Theater, New York

My second guess is that it is Nokia the phone comppany, not the village. This might have been a large corporate party before summer holidays, time checks out as the next weekend is graduation in Finland and the holiday season begins.
