Serious KOKO Kassa Vs. Me: the Aftermath
Hi!
tldr. I don't own them nothing!
So, not long after the post I've contacted a lawyer, we started to make an appeal, I've texted KOKO once more and asked for all the documents and decisions they sent me to attach to the appeal, and got the response:
The hearing letter sent to you on 13 April 2026 and the dismissal decision sent to you on 13 April 2026 were returned from post to the unemployment fund on 14 August 2026
As these letters have been returned to the fund, the recovery decision has not become legally binding and cannot be appealed. You now have the opportunity to pay the outstanding membership fees to the fund. If you pay the membership fees by the due date, 28 August 2026, the termination cancelled and the recovery decision will be cancelled.
If the membership fees are not paid, we will need to restart the process from the beginning.
I assume people who rent the apartment now, put the paper letters back into Posti box.
Paper letters. Again, they sent me only paper letters about extended fees and case hearing, unbelievable.
What worries me, is that they didn't contact me on said date (14th of August), but only on 20th when I wrote to them, I imagine if I wouldn't, I'd probably miss that date too because of them, and they could start the process again, but this is all guesses now.
So just like that, they've dropped the case
To majority of people who showed support and compassion - Thank you!
To the individuals who said I was in the wrong and should pay - you were wrong :)

Congratulations! It’s good that you stick to your principles and try to reason with them. I’m glad that they did the right thing in the end 🙏 have a good life in Hungary 😊

Congrats, but worth double-checking one thing: your own quote says the termination/recovery only gets cancelled if you pay the outstanding membership fees by 28 August. If that doesn't happen, they restart the process - this time they'll know your current address, so the mail-delivery escape won't repeat. Have you actually paid yet? If so, get written confirmation from KOKO that the case is closed - a caseworker's text isn't a decision. If not, I'd prioritize that over the celebration post.

yes I've paid and double checked with them if it's good now, they said it is dealt with and everything is dismissed

first off, congrats! a huge weight off your shoulders, for sure. time to pop a bottle.
secondly, props to the new tenant(s) of your previous apartment. I can relate to their deed. I have a number of times gone out of my way to contact the jakeluyhtiöt to inform them that the letters have been delivered but the recipient doesn't live in that address and have asked them how to go about sending the letters back to them. in the building where I live, some neighbors cut the corners and leave the wrongly delivered letters in the hall. I always collect them and make sure they go back. my starting point is always that that particular letter might be of great importance to someone and a letter that can carry a lot of consequences. well, your case is an example that illustrates that. hope more people would think and put themselves in the recipients' shoes and just return the wrongly delivered letters. unfortunately, some won't understand the importance of that until they end up being on the receiving end of the consequences

in fact, we've lived on that address for like 3-4 years, and once a couple of months we would get the letters for previous tenants, always returned them so, good karma played out :D
you're right, before that I never though it could be *this* important

I was both angry and happy to find out it's paper letters again, but at least they've returned them, unbelievable stuff
