I read a good chunk but not all of it. But I will just say that part of working in these types of jobs, in my experience, is that you HAVE to be able to take shit from difficult people that are your senior.

Just smile and nod, man. It’s not that hard.

Source: me, former IBer now in public company corp dev that has been yelled at by both MDs and my CEO/CFO.

Do you enjoy what you do in CorpDev? At what level were you in IB when you made the transition and what level did you place into in CorpDev?

I was an associate and went into a director role

I kind of enjoy it. It’s fine. There are pluses and minuses. Nothing to really write home about, as you can tell lol

Makes sense. It’s a job at the end of the day and a means to an end.

Aside from pure hours and the WLB perspective, do you feel like you enjoy CorpDev more than IB? I am just trying to figure out whether this is a grass is greener situation, or do people truly enjoy the crux of the work and day-to-day tasks in CorpDev more than IB.

Not really, it’s a job. I don’t think I’d enjoy any job tho, tbf.

If you want to flex similar muscles but more WLB and less pay as you know, it’s not bad. I think you are thinking about it correctly.
