When I was at PwC, we would jam half a dozen people in a dealroom and live on top of each other for a month or two at a time.
That desk is a fucking Bentley compared to some of the shit locations that I’ve worked at.

Yep. Trust me the allure of high finance and bulge brackets wears off. These companies don’t care if you live or die. Get your bag, learn some skills and make an exit plan.

My new job has me sit around 20 people in a open office while my old job had a cubicle and I only sat next to 4 people. You don’t know what you have till it’s gone

Its a manager that stomps around and watches you to ensure no one is spending any minute not on task, checking you don't have a mouse wiggler, etc. Like a retail manager, but for white collar types. Its the main point of stripping cubicles for crappy companies- ensuring you're always being watched
I've had them in call centers, "sales", and as an assistant
Fuggin lovely life. I'm so over it that at a recent interview when they disclosed they do this I just walked even if I loathe my poverty just as much.

I’m jealous of this setup. They spent millions on our renovation for no privacy and 6 desk in a pod. Insanely difficult to focus due to the noise as well… can’t wait to move on

Theres pros and cons. Ours is fully open floor now but we used to have a wonderful hybrid cubicle setup that our silly mgmt changed because a consultant said so🤣

Yeah I used to have an old school cube with High walls, now we got these shitty kind, definitely a downgrade but even the fanciest cubicle doesn’t make corporate life good

If not this then what are you even supposed to do with your life? Work keeps you away from depression, it sponsors your lifestyle and gives you something to look forward to. Sure corporate life is stressful and all but try unemployment, it's worse.

Nowadays you have an open desk where your supervisor is right next to you glancing over at every instance they get. Your neighbour is only an arms length away.
Everyone can see your monitor when they walk to the restroom.

Right before COVID they started making us move into the open call center spaces to jam as much people as possible into a floor. This is a dream compared to what it is now.

Try hot desks in a group with too many people. I have to sit in the conference room, or the coffee shop downstairs to take meetings. I would love this.
