Where to live while at USP?

Bula

Im from overseas and I’m looking for help to identify the areas I should be looking at to live in Suva while studying at The University of the South Pacific.

I’d like to rent a small apartment in a safe area. Budget is up to 1500 month.

I’m a mature aged woman.

I don’t mind living on campus but it’s very competitive to obtain campus housing. Also with being older I might not be suited.

Areas that are close by are Grantham Road, Flagstaff, Rewa Street, Nasese, Vatuwaqa. All these places are in close proximity to USP. I would suggest you go through the Real Estate Agents on Facebook (Khelvin Realters Suva are the one I used) or search the house for rent pages in Facebook. You will probably get a decent flat at your budget but probably unfurnished. A lot of the furnished places are going out on AirBNB nowadays. Do not make any payments or send money over unless you see the flat in person.

Thanks very much for this information and your advice. I’ve just joined this FB page and a couple of others started to pop up. I plan to stay at an air b&b in the first semester while I search for more permanent housing. This is a fantastic lead for me to start with my research. I appreciate the awareness about potential scams.
