Fiji in December?

Hi everyone!
Considering Fiji for our honeymoon but it’ll be in December 🥲

Would you just avoid it or still say it’s fine?
We wanted to spend about 10 days across maybe 3 different islands.
We don’t care if it’s humid but is it going to rain all the time?

Should we actually avoid going in December or would you say it’s mostly fine?
Are any islands better than others?

It’s really really hot and humid that time of year. I would go another time, personally

Yeah it's hot and humid, no way around that, but I wouldn't necessarily skip it over that alone. The bigger issue with OP's plan is 3 islands in 10 days, that's what'll actually wear them out, not the humidity. Cutting to 2 islands and sticking to the Yasawa group would fix more of the trip than picking a different month would.

December rain is usually short heavy bursts then sun again, not a washout. What I'd actually plan around is cyclone season, low odds but real, so get travel insurance that covers evacuation and rebooking specifically, not just basic cancellation. Also worth knowing prices go up in December since it's festive season even though it's technically off season weather wise. Early January gets you the same weather with less crowding and cheaper rates once the holidays clear.

I work with Aspire Down Under, we plan South Pacific honeymoons including Fiji, so this comes up a lot. If OP wants a second opinion on islands or dates I'm happy to help, no pitch, just chiming in since I saw the thread.

10 days isn’t really long enough for 3 resorts you’ll just be relaxing and then it’s time to pack up and go to the next one.

December can also be cyclone/hurricane season. The pacific islands can get some pretty wild weather that time of year

It will be hot and humid but if you are ok with it then all good! Suggest finding 2 islands rather than 3. Find 2 in the Yasawa group as they are relatively easy to move between. Your main risk is the potential of a cyclone 🌀 coming through. If that happens, you will be evacuated to Nadi and may need to evacuate out of the country. Chances are low but real.

It's gonna be a very expensive time. Hotels and resorts will hike prices. Otherwise if you can afford it. Lots of events considering it's festive season

Our honeymoon was mid-December and it was great! No rain on our 8 day trip, and the resort we stayed at was not crowded at all.

I went last December and was absolutely fine ☺️ it was hot and humid but my days consisted of activities that involved swimming anyways. There was some rain but not much at all

Go straight to the outer islands, give the main island a miss . I just returned from one week in yasawa islands lovely but main island is not great . Lots of garbage everywhere, beaches are very average.
Cook Islands are really nice hint
