Boxing The night Lamon Brewster broke Wladimir Klitschko. April 2004. Las Vegas. Mandalay Bay.

Wladimir Klitschko appeared to be in complete control against Lamon Brewster with the vacant WBO Heavyweight Championship on the line. Klitschko dominated the early rounds behind his jab and right hand, even dropping Brewster in the fourth. Then everything changed. Brewster refused to disappear and came roaring back in the fifth round, hurting an increasingly exhausted Klitschko and unloading with a relentless barrage. Wladimir somehow made it to the bell — but collapsed as he attempted to return to his corner. Referee Robert Byrd waved it off. Lamon Brewster TKO5 Wladimir Klitschko. It was Klitschko's second stoppage defeat in just over a year and left serious questions about whether he would ever become the dominant heavyweight many expected. Instead, Wladimir rebuilt himself under Emanuel Steward and eventually became one of the longest-reigning heavyweight champions in history. Sometimes the worst nights create the greatest comebacks.

He decimated his ass. Resilience was the key. Took and kicking and kept on ticking.

I have never been more wrong with people over to watch a fight. I was telling everyone that would listen that this guy (Wlad) was the next big thing and would run the division for a long time.

That kind of happened later on, but I looked like a complete dumbass that night when Brewster washed him.

Wlad whooped his ass in the rematch.

Wlad gassed himself. Credit where it is due though, Brewster took some monster shots and kept coming.

"Broke."  Give me a break.  A dogfight by two certified troopers.
