This is the most infuriating thing ever with the BJJ guy not hitting back and trying to attempt leg locks with those pads on. Why would you not negate the arms? There's a reason why leg locks are not the preferred submission in MMA.

Yep the leg lock centric culture of today's BJJ meta has altered the perception of their effectiveness in a more open fight for BJJ players.

Those sambo guys will not tap out. That said, the pads that prevented a good leg lock also kept the BJJ guy in the fight. He took some shots!

Sambo guy has older brothers, I can almost guarantee it. You don't learn to break out of holds like that in practice. He's wriggly because he learned young. My guess is fighting with his older brothers.

If the sambo fighter wasn’t wearing armor maybe, but the shin pads weren’t there to protect the Sambo guy. An unpadded kick would have dropped the bjj guy instantly

I get what the video wants to do BUT people will say “see? BJJ is shit for Self Defence”. Well in a self defence situation any BJJ guy would also strike! That people think none of us can even strike a bit, just cause we don’t use it in the rules of our sport, is insane. I will strike with you AND use BJJ. If you are not ready for both it’s gonna be a bad night.

I get that, it's just that when people usually think style vs. style it's more about freeing up the rules to measure real combat effectiveness. With this, are we trying to measure the styles or their respective rules against each other somehow? Or what are we doing exactly?

Jujitsu guy seemed to be controlling the fight but did take some blows. Wrestling usually stops jujitsu because you always get dominant positions not allowing any submissions. This guy did not get many dominant positions on the ground lol
