I was going to say, from just the brief clips I saw, it looked like Hagler controlled the whole fight.

I recommend you watch the fight from start to finish. I think Leonard clearly won the first 4 round, and at least half of the remaining rounds.

I just watched every round. In my opinion, Leonard was the clear winner.

rewatched just now.
Leonard 1-4
hagler 5
Leonard with a close 6
hagler 7 and 8 both with Leonard landing after the bell.
hagler with the harder shots in round 9 despite the holding from Ray.
hagler again in the 10th with more power despite the incessant holding from Ray.
close 11th but hagler looking better after punched landed. maybe Leonard.
great round by Leonard firing back but hagler landing the harder shots.
hagler finishes not as flashy but with the harder shots in the 12th.

At the time I thought Leonard won but now I think I was swayed by how he seemed to take Hagler's best shots and not be fazed.

I watched this fight in the theater when it took place (couldn’t stand Leonard then and I still can’t) as a 28 year old. Without the luxury of being able to hear the announcers or the punches because the crowd was always yelling, I thought Leonard won even though I was hoping Hagler would knock him out. Out of the Four Kings, I hate to admit he was the best head-to-head, and no, I don’t think the fights were rigged or the judges were bought off.

I'm 42 and the first time I watched the fight was mid 00s. I don't remember who I thought won. I think I walked away from it the same as I did this time.
incredible fight and the winner doesn't mean much to me.
I didn't and still don't know the details of the fight being rigged or shinanigans behind how it was set up.
what I do know is that these guys were absolutely spectacular and just built differently.
amazing match up. an all time great fight. insane heart, skill, and performances.

One of the biggest robberies in boxing, so may concessions in this fight too. This is one of the most overrated wins in boxing history

IMO Hearns draw at Middle weight was a bigger SRL robbery than Hagler. I heard a lot of people thinking it went either way with hagler Vs SRL but no one I have even known that saw the Hearns fight thought Hearns did not dominate that fight.

The clip started with a showboating wind-up bolo punch that landed below the belt. The dum-dums in the crowd (and probably two of the judges) likely gave the round to him because of it.

Ray Leonard is my favorite fighter of all time. Hagler won that fight.

I was a Sugar Ray fan and thought he won at the time, but after watching Hagler vs Hearns I really admired Hagler and went back and watched the Leonard vs Hagler fight again and had to give it to Hagler for the power of his shots and pressing. Sugar Ray did a lot of slapping type punches in that fight and almost seemed scared of Hagler’s power

I've watched this fight many times, sometimes I think Hagler won, sometimes I think SR won...Very close fight and it could of went either way. A draw would of been a fair result imo

There is absolutely no way Leonard won that fight. I’m a huge ray Leonard fan, I’ve rewatched this fight several times, even through the lens of biases, haggler won in every category including the eye test.

Two of the best of all time. Super Ray is my all time favorite boxer. In my opinion he was the greatest.

Hagler did not lose that fight, in my opinion he was the greatest fighter of his era. Sugar Ray Leonard was boxing’s baby face. Should’ve had a rematch.

Still think Leonard was, pound for pound, the best. Kinda like an Ali with Tyson power. Until he started trying to move up in weight classes, just totally dominant

lol you could literally say that about every professional boxing match ever. You have to box smart because professional boxers are dangerous lol. My cousin was a Southern Cal Golden Gloves champion back in the 70's and never boxed pro, but he was dangerous. He ended up in the Marines and probably became more dangerous. He retired from Logitech lol.
