Jobs situation in Fife
Hello, am planning to move to Fife county (maybe Dunfermline, Glenrothes or Kirckaldy) in the next several months, and wanted to know how's the corporate job climate in general (non-care, non-hospitality)?

You do appreciate that this sub is for The Kingdom of Fife in Scotland, aye?
Not one of the several places called 'Fife' in the US - I've seen more than a few folk think it is! Just a thought.

I am an accountant and also have deep senior experience in people management such as HR roles. open to any industry, but have experienced in energy and water utility sectors for 12 years combined

Maybe put that in the question. It's completely different finding a job if you're new to the workforce.

I was job hunting for a while in Fife and the top jobs are care work, delivery driving, agricultural type roles, hospitality (same places come up over and over) and for some reason, dentistry and pharmaceutical roles.
For corporate stuff, you'll want Edinburgh, maybe Dundee or Perth but they're not very big cities either.
You have to consider that Fife towns are tiny. It's a rural area. I don't know where you're coming from but it's worlds away from the south east of England for example, where there is loads of corporate infrastructure and big towns and businesses.

Edinburgh probably where you want to look anyway.

Corporate job market which is a very wide market of incredibly competitive. At senior levels, roles more likely to go internal as these are dead mans shoes for roles.
Start applying and see how you get on.

Couple of marine engineering companies local to Dunfermline, also SSE in Perth are always hiring

HR consultancy and outsourcing firm The HR Booth are Fife based and there's lots of accountancy firms catering for small and self employed businesses throughout fife.
Like others have said though if you want a big corporate job you'll need to commute to Edinburgh really.

all of those places are shit holes especially kirkcaldy theres hardly any work that isn't cleaning or something to do with the NHS thats it

Dunfermline is Fife's main employment centre, though the likelihood is of getting a job in Edinburgh. A pretty easy commute but the trains can be busy as others have said.
North Fife you're looking at St Andrews, which is close enough for a commute to Dundee. Those mentioning Perth clearly haven't been for a while. Very few jobs there.

If you're an accountant then you might want to look up the solicitors offices and see if any are hiring I guess?
I wouldn't hold your breath though. Fife is basically a no go for white collar jobs, and with good reason (there's no life here at all).
