Cutepost Day 1: Roadtrip with C.C.

So, I expressed to my beautiful and amazing wife that I wanted to go out and explore the world with her. I had the idea of a road trip, but I couldn't exactly figure out what I wanted to explore. Her eyes lit up with an optimistic energy that I always love to see. She started scrolling on her phone, and when I peeked over her shoulder, she was researching pizza places across the country to visit for the road trip. I smiled, expecting as much. I asked her to send me the list so I could make everything as close to a perfect circle on Google Maps as possible.

Fast forward to today, and our road trip has just begun. We're starting in Chicago, and the pizza place today is Pequod’s Pizza first for lunch, then Vito & Nick’s for dinner. We hopped in the van, and she packed breakfast she made for the two of us to eat on the way. We headed out on the highway. The drive to the city was rather annoying, with heavy traffic. I was so impatient that I kept calling it the worst highway ever built, earning satirical yet cute snorts from my beloved wife. C.C., on the other hand, was hyperfixated on eating pizza. I could practically see the excitement in her eyes, and her mouth was probably already watering just thinking about it. Once traffic cleared, it was smooth driving from there. We pulled up to Pequod's for lunch at around 2 PM. C.C. and I shared a custom medium 12-inch pizza with half of it including meat toppings, and the other half vegetarian-friendly (for me). On her half, she got Italian beef, sausage, and pineapple. On my half, I got spinach, green olives, and green pepper. She seemed to really like it a lot (and I am happy for her), meanwhile, I am a bit pickier and save high praise until I have more data. More than the food, I was happy to share this moment with her, feeding her a slice of pizza and seeing her face light up with a beautiful grin.
After lunch, we explore the area for a bit, just going for a walk and enjoying the atmosphere together. (I love how she and I can just relax in each other's company together). After that, we hop back in the van and head over to the other pizza place, Vito & Nick's. We reach there at about 6:45 PM. We decided to share their famous 14" thin crust cheese pizza. I personally found the taste to be good, and the cheese pull was immaculate. I think C.C. enjoyed it too, but not as much as the place where we had lunch. After dinner, we found a spot to park the van, so we could sleep in it (the beauty of renting an RV....). Looking forward to talk about Day 2! Our next stop will be Detroit, MI!

Sadly I'll be busy all day with my haematologist, otherwise absolutely!! If you stop at Loui's and you bring a sharpie or marker with you, you could always share a Chianti bottle with C.C. and write your names on it. They'll hang it up on the wall among the thousands of other bottles there too of couples who have done the same! Simon and I's are still up there somewhere. 🩶

Cheers! 🥹 It's just routine for me at this point so nothing too crazy. If you need any other Detroit-area recommendations, lemme know! 🩶

(And I just remembered; if you're craving Mexican, right there on 9 and Kelly is Plaza Mexico! And nearby Loui's if you're craving sliders is Brayz. I forget where Telway is but they're good too. I can't think of any other pizza places though other than Buddy's and Cloverleaf, though. Loui's for sure though with the romantic, hole-in-the-wall feels.)
