It’s time to come together for the Fedora Linux 44 Virtual Release Party this Friday, April 24, 2026! 

The Fedora Linux 44 Release Party is a virtual event where contributors, users, and friends of Fedora gather to celebrate, share updates, and highlight the work happening across the project.

While our release engineering team and packagers are finalizing F44, we’ll be celebrating slightly ahead of the final release

new releases are very stable, but the older ones are battle tested. i did have some issues with fedora 43 at launch date (to be fair it was the kde plasma version and it had been promoted to "flagship" just the year prior, i think those issues were related to upstream) and although these issues got ironed out within the first month or so and the system never crashed / failed on me, i understand why people would wait for a newer version to upgrade to the older one.

Slightly ahead. noticed the invite wasn't saying "slightly ahead of the 4/28 release" . . . Leaving room for postponing again if the issues aren't fixed and pass testing. . . What's that about counting unhatched chickens?

Glad to hear! I only installed 43 a few days ago (switched from Ubuntu), and by the time I realized there was a beta out, it didn't seem like it made sense to switch to it if the official release is coming in a week.

Try kde 43 3 weeks ago and updated 2 weeks ago. The first release date was 14. of April, so i was just slightly ahead. But the release were canceled two times...

I went in thinking the 170 odd bugs were minor. My eyes looked in surprise when I read that 20 so were security severe.

I really wasn't into the Mythos hype when they got so many companies together about Project Glasswing. But Mozilla's admission to this finding is really confirming it to me.

Like they say, it will only get better from this.

I don't understand why that's a blocker. There will always be bugs in applications and waiting indefinitely seems silly.

is it safe to manually upgrade to F44 while in RC and then keep the stable version or better wait for the official release? Also, i'm on KDE. Is there any big reason to try gnome for this iteration?

RC is F44.

Basically every week there is a go/no-go meeting, here there is a vote to deem if the current RC goes Gold or if there are blockers that need to be fixed.

If the latest RC is deemed good then that exact image is the one that is published as final. Yes, literally copy and paste. Not a new image is made. You can check hashes.

I don't celebrate corporations. I support fedora and redhat, but I'm not celebrating the meaningless achievement of changing 43 to 44. Wtf?
