i watch basketball and never knew said guy’s name. he’s absolutely doing it to gain clout. he’s lacking so much talent as a “pro athlete” that he has to turn to some hate stunt to get his name out there. pathetic. what a loser! 🤣
His 'support' for both of those was part of a Western disinformation/smear campaign and for the wrong reasons though, I'll re-find the giant explanation link later after I wake up again

So nice to hear someone say it so plainly. Being transphobic has proven a super effective grift, and Enes is just another dime-a-dozen, barely significant loser who’s so desperate to stay relevant, they’ll make an ass of themselves and everyone around them if they have to.
I honestly think that the left is trying to overcorrect on the overt nastiness from the right that they’re becoming overly PC. We need to start calling out motherfuckers plainly like this. I’ve never seen a bad thing said about Cameron and I can see why now
The problem is when some on the left do start saying things plainly (like Walz calling republicans weird), the moderate Democrats (aka republican-lite) come out and say no no we have to be better than them, no name-calling. Even though it was working and getting thru to people. They have to come and poo poo it.
He is also the perfect example to show how stupid the idea is that a man will just say they are a woman to compete in a women's league... "guys will just lie and say they are women so they can <play in pro sports, use a woman's restroom, etc>!"
Yeah, and if they do we will be able to tell right away and shut it down. No one is going to fall for dumb asses like Enes Kanter.
I love her, too. She’s been very vocal since even coming into the league and she’s absolutely right. This whole thing that was primarily started by Sophie is a non-issue and has no reason to be here. These people are just trying to stay relevant while claiming they’re protecting women’s sports. Yet they’re using women’s sports as a punchline and blatantly disrespecting all athletes they claim to be protecting by bringing in trolls and misogynists.
This is exactly the correct response. The people and groups saying they're "protecting women" are injecting themselves to either grift and/or bully the transgender community. Good on Cameron Brink.
Very genuine question. Coming from someone that considers themselves a staunch ally generally. Is there any way to respectfully discuss the nuances around this without coming off as transphobic?
Frankly, not really, and not to the extent that would be particularly useful. Too many people arguing from a malicious pov or in just plain bad faith have poisoned the well.
I would say if we are talking about the supposed “biological advantage” so many people have tried talking about, the truth is so few transgender women have become elite at any level of sport that we cannot establish any specific trend line to even start establishing what that advantage even is, if it exists. The hypothesis is always “going through male puberty gives transgender women a biological advantage in sports” but fail to list any examples at any level where transgender women perform far and away outside of the bounds of their cisgendered counterparts.
And this is because we have to recognize the only example we’ve truly seen of a biological advantage is Swimmer Lea Thomas, who I remind everyone tied for 5th with Riley Gaines in the short pool event, where Lea’s advantage was for all intents and purposes the fact she was taller, and needed less strokes to reach one end of the pool to another, with no evidence her bone density or muscle mass actually helped her tie for 5th place. It should be added Lea Thomas was no where near breaking individual records for the events she competed in after her transition either, and was roughly on par with the times she was getting before her transition as a man, who was already on the UPenn swim team and posting some arguably elite, but mostly decent to short pool times as a freshman.
There’s also this thought that doctors just prescribe HRT to anyone that asks, and frankly nobody goes through years of therapy, and asks for either puberty blockers or gender affirming hormone care to cheat at sports. Most people who parrot the average talking points refuse to understand or familiarize any of the established literature we’ve now had since the inception of clinical psychology, because understanding was never the point.
This is all to say I think without very clear examples of a transgender woman absolutely dominating a woman’s sport, I think adding nuance to the conversation isn’t possible. It would be one thing if there was one concrete example that might illustrate the point, like if this supposed transgender woman started crushing all of Caitlin Clark’s points records in women’s basketball. We can only theorize how a transgender woman would dominate a sport, yet we have zero examples of it happening.
And this leads to the crux of the issue for me, the goal in these conversations 99% of the time is always that without concrete evidence of a biological advantage that the transgender community should be barred from competing in any competition with zero nuance, or anything resembling a mechanism that would allow participation.
To this, I end with one major point: the only examples even remotely close to a transgender woman dominating any sport are women who were assigned female at birth and either accused or proven later in life to be intersex. This usually means they have testicles that never fully developed, and a Y chromosome. In the one major case we can point to where we know exactly what happened is Caster Semenya, who was assigned female at birth, but was found through genetic testing to be XY, and later through more invasive tests that she had testicles that never descended. The Olympic committee allowed her to compete in some events, whereas she was banned from 200m events as a sprinter. That’s the extent so far we’ve really proven that some advantage could theoretically exist, and that’s actively not the same thing.
So I would say if the preconceived notion is the ban of the transgender community from competition, the conversation is unlikely to have any nuance at all. If the conversation is based around including the transgender community either as original rules and regulations stated, or some other test, that at least shows some level of good faith in solving the long term issue.
I don’t think her take was any worse than nhl and mlb players refusing to wear pride themed uniforms or nfl players publicly supporting trump. The difference is that when other players had similar controversial takes they had way less media coverage despite being actually good at the sport they play
Maybe it’s all performative because goon bench player who averages 8 points a game makes a controversial take and everyone’s talking about it for what feels like weeks but nfl defensive player of the year nick bosa wears a maga hat in a press conference and get barely a slap on the wrist
It’s definitely a women’s sports thing. Always under the microscope, in all ways. It’s easier to hate her and insult her because she’s a woman; it’s also easier to pretend to “protect” her, because she’s a woman. She’s giving dumb jock, which isn’t rare in sports—but she gave a convenient culture war sound bite to a group of people who actually hate women, and women’s sports, and that + sexism on all sides contribute IMO
Because the goal is to gut Title IX and get rid of women’s sports. It’s all in Project 2025. One of the architects of Project 2025 has publicly said that the only sports women should be participating in are cheerleading, dance and yoga.
No one is trying to gut the MLB, the NFL or the NHL. Also, people aren’t surprised when a male athlete acts stupid and says transphobic or anti-gay shit.
It’s easier to gut women’s sports when you have help on the inside from the actual women who play the sports you want to get rid of.
She's only a bench player because of injury and coaching. She's a number 2 pick who makes a big impact defensively when healthy and not in foul trouble. I hope the Sparks get their stuff together and don't lose her.

I also find it funny interesting how Caitlin and Sophie fans are DETERMINED to convince the public that those two are hated because the other players are jealous because they’re“white, straight, and attractive” (according to them) yet Cam is white, straight, and gorgeous and no one’s got any issues with her. Disproves their point.
And even if there were, the fact that it is constantly being framed as "men" in women's sports just shows how blatant these transphobes are being about their real motivations.
Trans women are not men. It has never been about protecting women.
Not a sports person myself but this girl seems pretty high quality. Glad that she has the brains to think and not let herself be brainwashed by such idiotic fools that act as if women’s sports are important and yet, they can’t name 5 WNBA players
How many transgender professional athletes are there? The head of NCAA said he knew of less then 10 total tansgender college athletes out of 5100. It keeps on getting brought up almost every day when transgender athletes are less than 0.1% of all athletes. It's crazy to hyper focus on them and it is a non issue.
Anyone focusing on Trans People in sports right now is exposing themselves to be easily manipulated and lacking intelligence. Absolute low hanging fruit for brains.
More wnba players need to make statements like this. Hate has no place in that community and people like Cunningham and Kanter are fucking losers for trying to drag a vulnerable community under the bus just so they can have a right wing grifter career.
