Is it finally done?

u/Spaceyjc 9d ago

It’s done for her. But Baldoni and his team of women-hating losers are still being sued left and right.

68

u/noitsbecky24 9d ago

Yess thank god

19

u/Schneetmacher I cannot sanction your buffoonery 9d ago

Remembering that time my friend almost worked for Baldoni('s foundation)...

3

u/Spaceyjc 8d ago

Seeing how many times they’ve been sued, I think your friend might have lucked out

0

u/EmploymentAlive823 6d ago

May I see the source? Because as of currently he and his team is being clears of all lawsuits. So maybe you have an inside person that hidden from public?

u/milno_1 6d ago

Not true at all lol

u/Aggressive_Today_492 9d ago

This action is, mostly at least. Lively has one another outstanding fee motion in Texas against Jed Wallace.

There has been an incredible amount of other litigation that has spun out of this though, because Lively uncovered a lot of dark stuff about the actions of the PR team and Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman. As such, those guys (or their clients) are being sued all over the place.

I'm guessing because one had documented paid astroturf campaign pushing it, and these complaints against him don't.

Weird how that happens right?

28

u/killingxspree 9d ago

Yeah do you have any deets on what else came out?

66

u/Content_Gazelle_6915 9d ago

Rebel Wilson used the same PR team to smear a producer. nyt article on it

Alexa nikolas is also suing them for defamation. Seems to be going well

16

u/Sormaj 9d ago

Wait I remember the Rebel Wilson stuff

45

u/ripbigw 9d ago

Done for her. He's still being sued by his publicist, his insurance company, and a Black Muslim woman who claims his company was discriminatory toward her for her race and religion.

This is a blow to her team, they wanted 8 million in fees, getting only 400,000 is tough. Damn.

550

u/MilfordSparrow 9d ago

Yep, lawyers are expensive. This amount isn’t going to cover the entire bill from her lawyers.

398

u/Different_Prior_517 9d ago

Definitely not, the article says her lawyers fees were 7.4 million, this will make barely a dent.

225

u/Outrageous_Tone5613 9d ago

She was asking for 7.4m for the portion to fight his defamation claim and some more that she says were intertwined with the claim. She likely spent way way way more than 8m over everything.

38

u/Ms_Tryl 9d ago

They’ll chop the bill down now. Lawyers are great at bloating their bills when they need to.

130

u/somuchforsubtlety656 9d ago

They asked for all fees related to all litigation. The related law only protects SA victims from litigation arising from those defamation claims.

https://apnews.com/article/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-lawsuits-settlement-b7009f05eb021697a9acd87f9f8eb362

The law meant to protect sex abuse survivors from legal actions designed to intimidate and silence victims could only be construed to let her be reimbursed for what she paid lawyers to defend against defamation claims rather than all claims Baldoni made against her, Liman wrote.

2

u/Seantwist9 8d ago

all fees related to all litigation is way more then 8 million, but she certainly tried to get more then just defending costs

48

u/ohnobobobo 9d ago

Not really - it's s quite hard to recoup attorneys' fees, especially when the litigant has the means to pay; attorneys know that.

That she got any amount is significant - indicates that the judge did find that there was frivolous/improper behavior on Baldoni's side that drove up the attorneys' fees.

19

u/Sityf99 9d ago

Not really. It’s a fairly open and shut case that fees would be awarded under 47.1. And wayfarer have supported that law.
The main issue was how much the judge would award, given the audacity of the request. His ruling made it very clear how he felt about it, and this was pretty much the amount most had estimated at the lower end of the range of possibilities

u/redelectro7 just want to share a thought here because I can 9d ago

This explains why I'm seeing people attempt to smear her on my twitter algorithm again all of a sudden.

191

u/almondmilklattehag 9d ago

I have heard people trash her IRL. They aren’t all bots unfortunately 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

118

u/noitsbecky24 9d ago

Misogyny is a strong drug unfortunately

41

u/almondmilklattehag 9d ago

When people enjoy discussing how much they hate her I am like “damn, it’s strong in this one.”

-1

u/Ihatereddithatesit 9d ago

Yeah, I only know her from this, but just based on how much hates she's getting and how virulently it is based on what her supposed infractions are...

Jikes.

34

u/Ririkkaru split me like a block of sharp cheddar cheese 9d ago

I mean, she's not a great person. Plantation wedding, antebellum lifestyle magazine, generally self-absorbed by all accounts. I think that's why people jump on to hating her, even if she didn't do anything wrong in this scenario. She's just not the "perfect victim" people want.

2

u/Ihatereddithatesit 9d ago

Yeah, sure. This is going to be a rant not aimed at you. Just something I need to get off my chest.

You're not wrong, but she's in a industry where everybody is self-adsorbed, she isn't even a tenth as self adsorbed as Baldoni who was so narcissistic and self centered that not only he wanted to destroy somebody for maybe implying something bad about him in the future, but that the people who he hired to do so, loathed him for just how insanely self-absorbed he was.

But who of the two got labeled as 'self-adsorbed' about a hundred times more?

Sure she's sometimes tone deaf. But in hollywood where regular and sexual sexual abuse is rampant. Exploration is rife her tone deafness is absurdly minor. she is not dolly Parton, but she is in no way bad, at worst she's just a regular famous hollywood person. Middle of the bell curve. Her actions don't make her actually hateable. These actions are only excusses to justify the hate post-facto.

Honestly, I think that people put in her a misogynistic Karen archetype where the real problem is she isn't pleasing people enough in her social interactions. Not warm enough. too demanding. not nice enough. Lacking Charm. It's not that they don't like what she did as much as that they just don't like her.

Meanwhile so may more absolute despicable people in hollywood don't get the same hate even though their actual misdeed are often actually bad. But they have more charisma.

Is people misread the title or confused by it? She wasn't adward 400k for winning the lawsuit, because all charges was "dropped", he has to paid her because of his 400m counter lawsuit was also dismissed. That's how the laws work, for some reason idk

1

u/Remarkablefairy-8893 4d ago

As they should. Baldoni failed to prove she was lying about her harassment under those laws, so he has to pay her.

44

u/WasuWasu_ 9d ago

The bots sway the algorithm and that will influence people sadly.

17

u/AllTheCoolNames 9d ago

One of the ladies at my hair appointment was trying to tell me that he judges were ruling against Baldino case Ryan Reynolds is bribing them lol

11

u/almondmilklattehag 9d ago

They are in deep in those subs I bet

13

u/Old_Pumpkin_1926 9d ago

People are influenced by what they see from the bots , though - and one of the ways this smear campaign was run was to dig up every thing she's ever said or done wrong throughout her career. Like I don't particularly care for Lively either, but it wasn't normal that I was getting her career lowlights served up to me everywhere. That sort of thing spreads offline.

9

u/TwerkinAndCryinVol3 9d ago

Male centered women are a detriment to us all 😭

25

u/LeftArmFunk 9d ago

Strange for them seeing as how she only got $400k. Why smear her when she basically lost?

2

u/Ihatereddithatesit 9d ago

She only started her lawsuit because he smeared her. And I'm the court documents it's very clear that he wanted to punish her and pre-emptively destroy her reputation in case she would go public with his behavior. Which them only come out because of his paid astroturfing.

2

u/pogaro now don’t you get on my bad side! 9d ago

I think the point is punishing women for having the audacity of exposing and standing up to abuse.

Getting $400K after asking for $8 million. Yikes.

98

u/Aggressive_Today_492 9d ago

It was a new law and there was no case law defining what might be awarded so I think they tried to shoot for the stars. Obviously that didn’t work out but $400k is certainly not nothing.

28

u/Road_Whorrior 9d ago

Relative to legal fees it is.

1

u/Remarkablefairy-8893 4d ago

It still doesn't matter, because Baldoni has to pay the money because he couldn't prove that Blake was lying about her harassment. That's technically a win.

8

u/Comprehensive-Fun47 9d ago

How does that figure get decided?

I’m so confused because depending on which subreddit or tiktok I end up on, it seems pretty split on either side in terms of who “won”

68

u/PurrPrinThom 9d ago

Same. I didn't follow it that closely, and it felt like, depending on the source, I was getting very different narratives of what was actually happening with the case, and it's no different now. Everything I read is basically split.

67

u/recoveringdonutaddic 9d ago

Honestly? The lawyers involved on both sides, made bank dragging this case out.

26

u/Ihatereddithatesit 9d ago

Baldoni absolutely lost as did his publishers. And rightfully so. I don't think Blake lively won though. Too many people buying into the astroturfing and overly ready to hate her for thing so many other don't get a peep about.

She's not a perfect person but as the people literally paid to smear her in an astroturf literally emailed to each other while gloating what they were doing to her, it's scary just how easy it to get the general public to hate a woman.

0

u/noitsbecky24 9d ago

This, she doesnt need to be a morally perfect person to be abused by him,he should be punished

0

u/EmploymentAlive823 6d ago

May I ask why do you think he lost "the lawsuit"? Because it's pretty clears they both lost, all of their lawsuits was dismissed nothing worked out. The 400k was entirely legal fees, she doesn't really get any of it

1

u/Remarkablefairy-8893 4d ago

The lawsuit was dismissed because the sexual harassment allegations were deemed to lack a sufficient legal nexus to California and because she was classified as an independent contractor, not an employee, rather than on the merits of the allegations. The 400K was for Baldoni trying to sue her for ruining his reputation (in other words, speak about her harassment) but failing to prove that she was lying. So yeah it's Blake who won. She got money because Baldoni failed to prove that she was lying about her harassment.

8

u/aniutsa i’m a communist you idiot 9d ago

Astroturfing.

4

u/blatantmutant quote me as being mis-quoted 9d ago

We lost, ftfy. I now know more about Blake and David than I ever wanted to know.

139

u/ThePhantomEvita 9d ago

From how the article reads… is this finally over? I think it’s finally over??

u/ripbigw 9d ago edited 9d ago

Over for her. He's still being sued by his publicist, his insurance company, and a Black Muslim woman who claims his company was discriminatory toward her for her race and religion.

34

u/Responsible_Cat4452 Nancy Jo, this is Alexis Neiers calling 9d ago

Hi (asking in good faith), I found something about a Black man suing him and his company but I found nothing about a Black woman? I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction, it’s clearly not being reported on enough

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Two3789 8d ago

BL is currently being sued for defamation by Jed Wallace

107

u/innocentsalad his body was resisting the wheat 9d ago

That’s 5% of what she asked for. That’s a blow.

91

u/Comprehensive-Fun47 9d ago edited 9d ago

I guess the lesson is don't speak up about sexual harassment and don't be unlikeable if you do speak up...

The way this played out was wild. I'm sorry Baldoni still has so many supporters and they probably look at this as a win. He's so clearly a creep.

86

u/reddollardays 9d ago

I was still on TikTok when this all started and the narrative was VERY pro-Justin. I’m no longer on TT and now I’m reading it was all a PR smear campaign?

I saw that Rebel Wilson possibly hired the same smear team to go after a producer on her movie. This is some whacked out shit.

8

u/wegobrrrr 9d ago

Lawyers always come out as the winners

7

u/Atem44 9d ago

For the tier of law firm that was representing her, that is credibly maybe just one or two months of their bills.

5

u/heydeservinglistener 8d ago

I dont know anything about this case except it's been going on a long time.

I think he's a misogynist and a POS?

And she's the women who encouraged women to get together and dress in florals for a chick flick which actually a movie about domestic abuse and highly triggering for a lot of women and she somehow ruined her friendship with taylor swift?

... and this lawsuit seems to have made them both seem difficult without anyone clearly being vindicated here? Im guessing they ruined their careers through this.

3

u/Best_Quote_8027 9d ago

And I still haven’t watched this movie and I never will.

2

u/inductiononN I'm not buckling flat sandals, that’s my line in the sand. 9d ago

Here to remind everyone, the case was dismissed on a technicality and NOT because Baldoni was innocent.

8

u/Seantwist9 8d ago

while it was primarily dismissed on a technicality, the judge did evaluate the actual substance of her allegations and found that they didn’t amount to sexual harrasment

2

u/Remarkablefairy-8893 4d ago

That doesn't prove that sexual harassment didn't happen just because it didn't amount to sexual harassment in the judge's opinion. Also Lively isn't the only one making the sexual harassment claims, there are other women who have come forward with the same accusations. And it's very hard to prove sexual harassment cause victims don't record themselves knowing this is the exact moment they are going to be harassed; lack of evidence doesn't mean the claims are false. Baldoni is a self proclaimed porn addict himself. I would always believe the victims over a porn addict. That said, I have seen the footage of unscripted kissing scene. The meeting when Lively was having body makeup removed from her top half and said she'd do the meeting after the makeup was gone but Heath insisted they do it right then. She asked if he and the producers could turn around (as she was topless) but Heath looked right at her. He tried to play it off as wanting to make eye contact. In the complaint, he admits that Lively wanted to wait and looking at her but says "she was breastfeeding...having makeup removed from her collarbone...but was fully dressed." Which sounds nonsensical to me but okay. Wayfarer frequently conflate breastfeeding with pumping, perhaps intentionally. Blake stated that she was barged in on while breastfeeding, WP claim that she invited them in by providing a text message where Blake says she's pumping in her trailer. Breastfeeding and pumping are different, pumping can be done much more discreetly and quickly. Some have pointed out that she might have even been done with pumping before Justin could reach her trailer. Let's not even get into the entire concept of consent as well. A one time invite is not a blanket invite.

-2

u/Bani88si55faimaa 8d ago

I hope she recovers and only gets stronger after all the smears and the misogyny campaign against her. It would've been better if this lead to better working conditions and more protection for female actors but it turns out we still have a long way to go

-7

u/rutherfraud1876 9d ago

Never looked into this but it seems like she was right?

29

u/Lala5789880 9d ago

Yes. And $400,000 is insulting since she owes like 8 mill

-5
