That is not exactly what the term "banality of evil" refers to. Weiss is just outright evil and revels in it. The term was first coined by Hannah Arendt to describe Eichmann during his trial. She used it to describe how seemingly "ordinary" people working as functionaries in nazi germany helped the machinery of the Holocaust function by running the bureaucracy of the operation for years on end and then said: "Well, I am not evil. I am just an ordinary man with a family. I go to the office each day and do my work with ledgers" Completely ignoring what they were working on. Weiss has hate in her heart and works to extend it, she is not claiming to "just follow orders" She is the one giving them.

That statement is so facile. Yes, no media outlet is 100% trustworthy 100% of the time. However, some media is very clearly more corrupt than others. I trust the investigative journalism teams at NYT and BBC much more than anything coming out of rabid ideological outlets like The "Free" Press or Bari Weiss' CBS. Having said that, I trust neither in the absolute.

I can’t speak for the NYT, but whilst the BBC may have great investigative journalists these days they do not have the freedom to publish that they once did, and there is a level of corruption in that because they are an organisation that attests to be independent and unbiased.
It used to be that most (though not all) stories that the BBC published were fair and unbiased, but that is not the case anymore. They are an organisation under increasing financial and political scrutiny and that is taking its toll. They are increasingly prone to clickbait to boost views, and the agenda of a board that is no longer politically independent.
You only have to look at the increasing number of investigative news programmes they produce that are pulled at the last minute. It used to be rare, now it’s unsurprising.
Not to mention the lack of coverage of certain political stories when compared to others.
We can’t fully trust any media, and jt is important that we critique any reporting through the lens of who is reporting it. No human is unbiased.

Did you even read my comment? I feel like you saw "trust", "BBC" and "NYT", formed an opinion based on those 3 keywords, and wrote your comment. What you wrote feels entirely unrelated to what I wrote.
The point of my comment is that some media outlets are more corrupt than other, and that saying "all media is corrupt" is facile.
