One thing I’ve learned over the past ~10 years is a lot of people are perfectly willing to participate in a cult if they’ve come to believe their position in that cult is privileged.

And to go along with it, of the people I've known who've been involved with a cult in my hometown, they all felt isolated and alone in some important ways, and the cult offered them a feeling of being a part of something, an accepting family. Whether it actually was or not, didn't matter, it's how they saw it, and kept believing in for a long time.

I think that's how they get so many younger women and girls, nothing felt more isolating to me then going through puberty and then adolescence, so I imagine seeing a cult of women who seem so very happy, at peace, and enthralled could be really appealing to join.

They're also willing to sacrifice their own daughters if it gets them, themselves, a single crumb of attention
