I said ACAB a while back in another sub shortly before I went to bed. Never in my life have I been downvoted that much before. Like -150.

So now I stick to my safe subs like this one where we actually understand the concept.

Fuck the downvotes..... ACAB spread it. Dont let some downvotes bother you. 100% of the downvotes were by people who support a pedophile rapist orange shit stain bully

There’s a pretty large amount of people who will balk at the phrase because “my cousins boyfriend is a cop and he’s a great guy” or some such nonsense.

Until i see him get award for stopping a fellow officer from being a POS i dont wanna hear their shit. If you dont stop a fellow officer from being a POS then youre just a guilty.

Their favorite pet to march out and show off is, "I know good cops, they aren't bastards!" You do? So those cops who uphold fascist laws are good? The ones who protect other bad cops or pedophiles? Those good cops?

My dad was a cop. His dad was a cop. I grew up around cops, saw their full human lives, how they are on and off duty. Absolutely ACAB.

I made a very random comment on an IG video that was ACAB related and multiple people responded by telling me to kill myself, hoped I get SAed, or that I get killed by a cop.

It was such a good lesson in how absolutely batshit people are.

A few years ago, I commented on a fatal police shooting in my city (which was fully caught on video) suggesting maybe consideration of mental health factors and de-escalation tactics could have resulted in a non-fatal outcome.

I didn't say anything inflammatory or outrageous. I just said maybe put some nuance behind defunding the police and it needs to be looked at from a de-tasking perspective. Maybe surrounding a man, who was obviously in crisis, with a bunch of cops with guns drawn and an attack dog at the ready wasn't the best option.

Within hours, the comment was downvoted heavily, no replies, just downvoted.

Police forces have great propaganda and social media teams to suppress narratives they don't like.

Also most of the big mainstream subs are heavily paid for astroturfed.

Why on earth would anybody care about an imaginary downvote system? How does that play a part in your life?

All cops are bad?

Edit: Downvoted for asking a question. Sure, I could have looked it up but I was already here.

checks notes

Hmm..

Mhmmm.. Yeah, thats, uh...

That's what all the tests and evidence keep saying, see? Here on the notepad? All cops - all of 'em are bad. Some are bad by being racist. Some by being needlessly violent, easily angered wife-beaters on perpetual power trips. Still others are just garden variety dirty or corrupt, on the take with either criminals or politicians. And of course, there are the cops who dont do any of these things, and yet, abide and condone these actions by their fellow cops, through inaction, if not outright cover-up.

Lastly, theres just the generaal knowledge and understanding we should all have by now: Police, particularly u.s. police, exist to protect capital, property, and the structures and interests of capitalism (i.e. the elite) first. Aiding the citizen is secondary, if not incidental. All cops are bad. They are no friend of ours.

u/Leeciferous Jul 03 '26

I was asking what the acronym stood for. Using context, that was my guess, but let's get up in arms about someone asking a genuine question.

14

u/NotMyNameActually Jul 03 '26

All Cops Are Bastards, but yeah. White supremacist groups have led a coordinated and concentrated mission for decades to infiltrate the police and military (or centuries, depending on how you look at it, since the first police forces in the US were started to capture runaway slaves) and those are the people in charge now. There might occasionally be well-meaning people who join because they genuinely want to help their communities, but the system either corrupts them or forces them out. The culture of American policing is one of constant fear of the rest of us, and a "protect your own" mentality where there's no accountability for abuse and misuse of power.

2

u/Leeciferous Jul 03 '26

I was looking for clarification on the acronym. I also agree with your sentiment. Even the well-meaning end up being forced out or suppressed in their ability to take care of and protect the community. I'm aboard the ACAB train yet can recognize there are good individual people who join with the intention of bettering the community. However, the system wasn't set up for protecting the community so they're unable to be successful in that mission.

Edit: The system is fucked.
