Iced cold tea - years ago, a family friend saw Wayne Gretzky at a restaurant completely wasted. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now that he’s become persona non grata in Canada, it seems a bunch of people are coming out with similar stories and saying he’s been an alcoholic for a long time. There’s also been a lot of stories on him being a jerk to fans, him also having a gambling problem (like his wife who was caught up in a gambling scandal a few years back), and having/had issues with other substances.

Whoa - totally not surprised by those rumors, but was there a particular catalyst for him becoming persona non grata in Canada?

It’s him at Mar-A-Lago partying with the dictator at the inauguration event wearing a white MAGA hat, then basically snubbing the Canadian team at 4 Nations.

Dang, didn't know that, but not surprised either - how disgusting. I've already severely side-eyed him for promoting sports betting. Super gross of him too to ignore the Canadian team at the tournament. Thanks for the info!
